Mission 2: "Battle of Naboo"
Epilogue Part 4 of 8
"Troubled Dreams"
What happened? Geldar asked as everyone stood in the medic bay watching the medic droids place Lialla in a bacta tank.
Tarrsk and I were fighting and she stepped in the way, Satchal muttered under his breath. Thats it.
Geldar raised an eyebrow to indicate his curiosity. What were you fighting about? he wondered.
Look! said Satchal as he turned on Geldar. Dont patronize me. I know you think you know everything about being a Jedi and I dont, but guess what, Geldar. You arent a Jedi any more than I am. I know I lost control. I know shes in there because of me, so just get off my back. Then he turned and stormed out without another word.
Geldar stared after him in disbelief. What did I say? I only asked what you were fighting about.
You didnt say anything, said Tarrsk gruffly. Hes probably just looking for an excuse to go tell the Trade Federation where were at.
What? Geldar asked as he turned to face Tarrsk, and Tso and Nyarchagga both turned as well.
Whats going on? asked Nyarchagga.
Ill tell you whats going on, said Tarrsk. We need to keep our eye on that one. Hes obviously been hiding some dark secret that he doesnt want the rest of us to know. I caught him telling Lialla about some dreams hes been having lately. These dreams are about him as the Dark Jedi that killed his master and kidnapped Brintacs family. He even went into detail about putting on a six-fingered robotic claw on his hands. Seemed too realistic to me. It had to be him confessing to the crime.
Geldar thought about it a moment. Easy, my friends, he said. Sometimes Jedi dream about things that are indeed prophetic. However, it doesnt mean that Satchal is this Dark Jedi. The Force may be simply aiding Satchal in his quest to find him.
Tarrsk stared at him in bewilderment and then snorted derisively after a moment. I give up. Ill never understand you Jedi.
Tso moved closer. Did Satchal do this to her? he asked.
No, said Tarrsk. It was an accident. Still, he was shaking her violently out in the garden, and pushing her around a little. Not exactly what Id call the work of a Jedi.
Geldar sighed. Now at least I know why Satchal is acting the way he is. With dreams like that, I can understand why he might be lashing out at people. We have to give him some time and help him through this.
I say we need to blast him while he sleeps, said Tarrsk under his breath.
Dont give up on Satchal yet, said Geldar. He may be the key to finding the Dark Jedi that has brought us all together.
**********
Lialla felt herself floating and opened her eyes to look around. In the midst of a sea of bacta she thought shed heard a voice calling to her. Looking around, she saw outside the tank a group of people yelling and arguing about something. Maybe they had called her name.
Lialla, came the voice again. It was soft and sweet, like her mothers.
Whos there, she said, or at least thought she said.
The womans face suddenly appeared in the glass, but it was almost completely transparent. Its me, Kylarra.
Kylarra? she responded. But how?
Kylarra smiled sadly at her. Im dead now, Lialla. I am visiting you in spirit.
Lialla became alarmed. No. What do you mean youre dead? You cant be dead.
Im sorry, Lialla, she said. But its true. When you are out of the tank ask Geldar about my demise.
Tears would have formed in her eyes were she not already floating in liquid. I dont understand.
Lialla, Kylarra continued. You and your new friends are in grave danger. You must go with them to help them. The Dark Side of the Force grows stronger, and it is surrounding all of them; especially Satchal.
Satchal? she asked fearfully. Yes. Ive seen it in him. The Dark Side is growing stronger in him.
Lialla, Satchal is being consumed. The Dark Side has built a barrier around him. He cannot even see the light. The darkness deceives him and twists his mind. You must be the light that shines in the darkness, Lialla. Take the light to him.
But I dont have the Force, she said.
Just be there for him, Kylarra replied. Help him sort through his problems.
But I know nothing of the Jedi, Lialla pointed out. What good will I be to him?
You and Geldar are helping him more than you could possibly imagine, she said. Just dont give up on him.
And then, as quickly as shed come, she faded away. Just dont give up on him... were her final words, and Lialla slipped back into unconsciousness.
