More about Mops...
What Is Mops?
- Mops is an outreach to mothers of preschoolers that provides an open, accepting atmosphere where specific and significant needs of today's preschool mothers are shared. - Mops is a haven for soothing frazzled nerves and forming lifelong friendships. - Mops meets preschool moms where they are, and offers instruction and nurturing in a relaxed atmosphere of caring, sharing, and fun. - Mops is not a Bible study, but uses the Bible as a source for answers to the current family issues in our society. - Mops is a safe place to explore the deeper principles for life building and to learn of the wonderful blessing God intended in being a mom. - Mops is primarily led and coordinated by the mothers themselves, with the addition of a few "seasoned ,veteran" moms who lead the teaching from time to time. - Mops' purpose is to nurture all mothers of infants up to kindergarten-age children by meeting their distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ.
The format of a Mops meeting includes food and fellowship, a teaching time(related to womanhood, marriage, parenting or home management), small group discussion, and creative activities. Quality and loving care is provided for the children during the meeting through our Moppets ministry: a preschool-like program with a spiritual emphasis. Signs and greeters help direct moms to the children's rooms and the Mops meeting hall.

Our Mops group is chartered with Mops International, Inc. This was established in 1996, after a small group of moms, who met for playgroup decided they wanted more. They went to Larry Dennis, HPN's Senior Pastor, who enthusiastically supported them. In September 1996 there was an informational meeting, and a Steering Committee was formed from the moms attending. Our first Mops meeting was in October 1996. Today we have the privilege of being able to provide this opportunity for a life-changing experience to mothers of preschoolers in our church and our community.
