| Lake Cumberland Corvettes, Inc.
Club History In August 2003, a group of Corvette enthusiasts got together and wanted to form a club made up of people with a similar passion for Americas sports car, CORVETTE. From this desire came Lake Cumberland Corvettes. The founding members are: Jim & Cindy Stringer Alvin & Brenda Neal Eugene & Dianna Davis Ron & Maylene Gann Dale & Jill Parker Dallas & Freda Elmore We are located in Somerset, Kentucky, home of beautiful Lake Cumberland. Our mailing address is 126 Halcomb Dr., Somerset, KY 42501. We currently have 35 members from across the Central Kentucky area. The main objectives of our group are enjoying our Corvettes, meeting new friends, going places, and having a Great Time. We also participate in car shows, drives, parades, and of course eating. To date, we have had numerous cruises and have participated in 5 parades. We have been featured in the Commonwealth Journal newspaper numerous times concerning various activities. Our first newspaper article included a front page picture featuring five C3 Corvettes taken on beautiful Lake Cumberland at Pulaski County Park. This picture was made prior to a picnic at Cumberland Point. (Our website homepage features this picture.) We are a non-profit organization involved with our community thru yearly charitable events and other financial assistance for needy organizations. This has included Toys for Tots and Toys for Iraqi Children at Christmas. We have also worked to raise money for the American Cancer Society thru the Love Lights a Tree and Relay for Life programs. We became incorporated on May 25, 2004. We have General Motors approval for our club. We joinedthe National Corvette Museum, as a club, on March 14, 2005. Within our club, we have one lifetime member and several family memberships to the museum. One member, Ron Gann, has had his 1980 Corvette on display at the museum. Member, Jack Randolph, serves as our Ambassador to the museum. Our club meets the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at Cumberland Valley National Bank, located at 1520 South Highway 27 Somerset, Kentucky. On the 4th Saturday of each month between April and October, you will find us at Somernites Cruise, which is a HUGE car show downtown Somerset. To attend, we normally meet at 2:00 p.m. at Monticello Bank, which is located on Hwy. 80 By-pass across from K-Mart. We would like to send a Special Thanks to Somernites Cruise for creating the opportunity for us to meet and create our club. |
