On Septemter 12, 2005 Kayla went on her first out-of-state vacation. My mom, Kayla and I drove to Wilmington, NC from Wisconsin, an 18 hour trip each way. We weren't exactly sure how Kayla would handle 9 or more hours in the car, but everything turned out alright. It took 3 days to get there because we had to make several stops for Kayla. A couple days before we left we found out that Hurricane Ophelia was scheduled to hit land on the exact day we were to arrive in Wilmington. Since it was only a cat. 1 we weren't overly worried about it and drove straight through it. It was a fun and relaxing vacation...it's too bad Kayla won't remember it. We stayed for about a week and got home on the 21st.
