LMC Prayer Ministry
Our Prayer Ministry is led by Dave and
Naomi. We meet on Sunday evenings at
6:00pm for a time of praise and prayer.
Psalms 100:1-5
"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye
lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come
before his presence with singing. Know ye
that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath
made us, and not we ourselves; we are his
people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter
into his gates with thanksgiving, and into
his courts with praise: be thankful unto him,
and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his
mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth
to all generations."
Our worship and our prayers of
thanksgiving and praise usher us into the
presence of God our Father. Once in His
presence, the 'things' of this world quickly
lose their importance. Instead of praying
'gimmee' prayers, our prayers take on the
desires and will of our Heavenly Father. He
desires that "all should come to repentance."
(2Pe 3:9), so we pray for the salvation of
those in the world.
God desires that we be ready at
all times to send up a prayer for other
Christians. Any time we hear about a fellow
believer who has needs, we are instantly ready
to pray. "Be kindly affectioned one to another
with brotherly love; in honour preferring one
another...continuing instant in prayer."
(Hebrews 12:10-12) As we follow God's desires
to place the needs of others before our own, we
develop a network of Christians praying for
each other. You pray for my needs and I pray
for yours.
And finally, in the presence of our
God who is our example of what is good and
acceptable, we pray for all those in postions
of authority. It doesn't matter if we agree,
or disagree with their politics; or whether
we like, or don't like the way they exercise
their authority. God says to hold them up in
prayer, and to do so with 'holy hands'. That
means to pray from God's viewpoint of love for
all men. "I exhort therefore, that, first of
all, supplications, prayers, intercessions,
and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For
kings, and for all that are in authority; that
we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and honesty. For this is good and
acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who
will have all men to be saved, and to come unto
the knowledge of the truth. For there is one
God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a
ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an
apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie
not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity. I will therefore that men pray
everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath
and doubting." (1 Timothy 2:1-8)
