Species name: Gritto The Double-Jello Pokemon Type 1/ Normal Type 2/ Poison Height: 2' 11" Weight: 66lbs General Pokedex data: Due to certain chemicals in the water and soil of Lake Eerie, there have been reported various grimer mutations. Noteably, experimental Penicillin variants ingested while eating chemical wastes in and around the lake in years past when there was a high level of waste present in the environment in that area. One of these mutations is a weakening of the Neucleus that has allowed it to meld with that of other grimer, Muk, and in some cases, Ditto. There have only been a few reported sightings of this latter case. They tend to retain the transformation ability of the ditto, and yet, secrete chemicals and absorb matter in the same manner as a grimer. Grimer and Ditto do not, on thier own, produce true hybrids being Grimer exclusively bud, and Ditto, even when mating other species, produce clonal versions of their partner by reproducing thier DNA as exactly as possible. Hence this mutation is of particular interest. However, none have ever been captured for further study. An evolved form was never seen. Upon testing the soil and water in and around the Lake Eerie region before the new resort was set up, it was determined that the level of these neucleus weakening chemicals had reduced to a low enough level not to pose any further threat to wild Grimer and Ditto. There may still be affectedmembers of these species abroad, however, none have been found recently, despite the area being monitored for signs of similar mutations. Noteably, experimental Penicillin variants ingested while eating chemical wastes in and around the lake in years past when there was a high level of waste present in the environment in that area. The grassy grimer is the result of a grimer who has absorbed such chemicals, and become a fertile environment for plants to grow in. Grimer absorb wastes from thier environment to grow and multiply, and are usually too toxic to sustain any kind of growths bar the hardiest moulds and fungi. This particular variant has absorbed enough nutrients, expended enough toxins, and grown with the grasses that have somehow found thier way into its system. My theory is that the first to do this, evolved, causing the grasses to become further entwined into thier anatomy, in much the same matter as the evolution of mushrooms on the body of Paras - Parasect. The relationship is only mildly symbiotic... there is no true give and take. The grass draws on the enzymes produced by the grimer for its food and water intake, but produces nothing for the Grimer in return, bar a convenient way of disposing of wastes. However, the Grass has such a slight nutritional need, that the Grimer is hardly adversely affected by its presence. They are gentle herbivores, ingesting only plant wastes, as opposed to sucking in toxins. The diet of wild grimer has long been the subject of debate; Grimer in human heavy areas tend to ingest so many toxins that they can become very aggressive, and mentally instable. Grimer fed on more natural fare, as they would have eaten before the industrial revolution, where pollution became more common place, usually, have quite a sunny, easy going nature. And a far more pleasant aroma. Simply put, these creatures SHOULD have been a different type of 'eon. Due to chemical substances in the blood stream that should never have been there in such a high density, upon evolution, an entirely new form was created. Apparently, however, it did not last long. The instability of this evolution soon had it reverting back to it's previous form as so few pokemon have ever done without any kind of human intervention. Pokemon watchers are the only reliable sources of live Opaleon data, and of course, DNA sampling of a strangely colored Eevee corpse filled in a few blanks. The water of Lake Eerie, with a high level of silica and heavy metals due to the dumping of e-waste (Used, and obsolete computer parts.) caused an increase in both aforementioned groups of non-organic compounds in the eevee's bodies that affected thier already fragile cellular structure upon exposure to evolution stone radiation. In this case, however, we are unable to assertain exactly WHICH stone was used. E-waste is one of the largest causes of wild pokemon, and even human, heavy metal poisoning in areas where the dumping of old computer parts has not been outlawed. And the stories barely ever end so happily as the creation of a new eeveelution. And its creation is similar to Opaleons, in theory. The build up of various inorganic minerals in the Eevee's system eventually built to a crisis point, and upon evolution, a new form was created. However, little to nothing is known about the Egypteon. It was decked out in jewels, which leads us to believe that it is perhaps a malformed Espeon, being that Espeon is the only eeveelution to produce 'jewels' from chemical compounds in the bloodstrem upon evolution. This is a matter of the bodies natural defenses, converting possibly harmful chemical build ups, into something far more benign. Several of these growths have been found, shed from the original Egypteon, and whatever DNA samples were available from them have been tested... but it leaves us with a lot of gaps that may never be filled. Where to begin? Humans have tried to recreate this pokemon many times over... training thier Eevee only at dusk and dawn to try and evolve it at that exact moment where day and night meet... and so neither Espeon, nor Umbreon is formed. But, invariably, there is no 'right time' for this evolution. So, what you get, is a normal Umbreon, or, a normal Espeon. Or, worst comes to worst, your Eevee stays an Eevee. Psycheon, however, is a perfect mix of Umbreon, and Espeon. This is possible only with very, very specific circumstances. The only ever recorded appearance of this pokemon is quite old, now, and surrounded in no small amount of 'local legend' as it were. However, i have been able to assertain this much; The highly toxic surroundings of the Eevee from Lake Eerie pokemon reserve, before it became miraculously clean, caused an upswing in the amount of free radicals in thier bodies. Upon recieving many stat increasing candies and pills from various 'kindly' humans, not knowing any better than to feed wild Eevee things they should not be eating, the reaction between Zinc (A chemical given to pokemon to increase Special Defense), and an overabundance of free radicals caused a huge increase in the Eevees Zinc Oxide levels. Found naturally in small amounts throughout the body anyway, this surge of Zinc oxide, coupled with stat increasing chemicals and candies caused a freak reaction in the Eevees body. Penetration of Ultra Violet radiation, needed to create an Espeon was blocked to a degree, and so the evolving cells became 'confused' and so mutated into something inbetween the two forms, which, beforehand, had existed as nothing but hearsay. And will probably remain as such from now on. This is the reason why i advise against giving such items to wild pokemon. Unless you are willing to train it and be responsible for its welfare, do not feed it items intended for specimens in training. The experimental testing of Agent 22 resulted in a lot of interesting happenings, but this is perhaps the strangest. Agent 22 is an experimental drug that has the power to de-evolve pokemon. It is temporary, to my knowledge (However, any kind of information of it has dropped off of my radar. Or maybe i am just looking in the wrong places.), and in being so temporary, it was predictable that there would be trouble with wild Eevee. An umbreon, subjected first, to Agent 22, and then to the radiation from a fire stone at the exact moment of the Agent wearing off, mutated into this Umbreon/Flareon hybrid. The reversion of the Eevees cells into an evolved state became 'confused' by the fire stone radiation, and so merged the two forms in a similar manner to Eclipseon. This form was temporary. Over exposure to water, and electricity purged the fire element from this creatures body, leaving it in its original Umbreon state. I will resist the temptation to use this entry as a soap box to state my opinions on Agent 22. However, it's probably likely that this particular eeveelution hybrid will never surface again. Apparently, it's appeared in several places... There are rumoured sightings in the North Pole, if my sources are correct. However, it is believed to have originated in Lake Eerie, and the surrounding tropical rainforrest regions. If the reports of it weren't so old, it would possibly be considered something worthy of Lab Escapee status. ACHI Labs, with thier experimentation into the Psychic type could have explained this away nicely, as there have been reports of thier lab animals going feral. But there are older reports of a very similar creature, in the region of 100 years ago. Whether the two are concretely related or not, can't be completely assertained. Until further evidence comes to light that disproves it, however, we'll go with what we know. Lake Eerie mining villiage was formed over 200 years ago when gold, evolution stones, and other precious metals were prospected for by travellers eager to seek thier fortune in the rich soil around the peninsula. Volcanic activity played a huge part in shaping the landscape of the region, and so there were many igneous mineral deposits to be uncovered, many of which were extremely valuable, hence, the villiage thrived for nearly a century. The deeper the underground tunnels became, the more minerals and metals were discovered, including Uranium deposits. Kadabra and other Psychic pokemon have used Alpha particles for millenia to enhance thier Psychic powers, and it would seem that other pokemon were able to adapt to do the same thing. One of which is Sentret. Nogalli, upon first sightings, looks very similar to an Arctic variety sentret that has strange coloration and markings. Whether the Sentret line had interbred with other pokemon, and this was a factor, we're unable to tell, however, the likelihood of this theory is enhanced by sightings of Nogalli at the North Pole. Considering reports of other strange variations in the Sentret and Furret in and around the Lake Eerie peninsula, this shouldn't come as too large of a surprise, and certainly isn't too large of a stretch. Even though wispwing do not live near the water, thier prey sometimes does, and this is a perfect example of toxins making thier way up and down the food chain. Which chemicals were involved, again, can not be completely assertained, however, it is believed that a small independant laboritory, doing research into evolution stones was to blame. Evolution stone manipulation is abhorrent. Simply because now we understand how these compounds work, there is no need to press those boundaries. Psystone, and fighting element stones have been created, but they, and thier effects, are far too unstable. What is even more abhorrent, is that dumping these stones once the research is done, tends to be the norm when it comes to the disposal of such things, and wild pokemon are the ones who come out worst off. Reports of early experimentation into the creation of 'drakestone' coincide nicely with the first appearance of Zaurus. Defective 'drakestone' dumped into Lake Eerie is believed to be the cause of such a mutation. Particles of this completely unstable compound made thier way into the food sources of water-loving bugs, birds, and small mammals, which later became food for the localities very small Wispwing population. The Zaurus story doesn't quite end there. Upon further exposure to evolution stone radiation, Zaurus was revealed to have an evolution. There are, at this point, very few true dragon types that evolve via stone, and Zaurus isn't supposed to be one of them - being Zaurus is simply a malformed Lilthing. However, the particles of Drakestone within Zaurus body were immediately re-activated upon exposure to moonstone radiation. Out of all the evolution stones, Moonstone is the most reactive, and its radiation is the most versatile. The new evolution appears to have skipped the Lilthings natural second phase, and moved right onto Wispwing. The shift is one of the more dramatic I've encountered in my studies... but that's what comes with the manipulation of evolution energies. Not everything is known about evolution because it differs for every pokemon. Every single one has its own unique DNA shifts between one form and the next, and these can be changed and manipulated in laboritories, and thankfully, this sort of thing rarely happens in the wild. Amphiptere was found and studied only after its death by natural causes.
