General Pokedex data: Since the mother alone is left to raise the young, in the first stage of this pokemon's life is the most dangerous they'll ever face. Seeing as their mother must eventually go and hunt down food to keep providing milk to her young, kittuft are left defenseless in the den until they're capable of following her outside of the den. As a result, though their mother will constantly shuffle them from one den to the next, most are killed before their eyes are even open. Once they are able to head out alongside thier mother, they rarely leave her side again until their evolution. Though extremely playful and curious, this is their most impressionable stage and when they learn the crucial hunting skills they'll need to survive. This pokemon, when captured, is rather easy to tame and makes a rather good pet. Though be wary; kittuft might not be the speed demons their evolution is, but they can still be pretty quick when they want to be. Discovered by: Coral Breeding group: Juvenile (Non-breeding) Replaces in Ecosystem: Cheetah Eats: Carnivore. Takes what its mother provides and when older brings down smaller prey of its own (rattata, nidoran, etc.). Social structure: Live with siblings and mother until evolution. Habitat: See Cheetuft. Rarity: Uncommon Brief comment: Breeding method: N/A ----------------------------------------- Species Name: Cheetuft No: 314 The Fast Dash Pokemon Type 1/Normal Type 2/Dark Height: 3'4" Weight: 100 lbs. General Pokedex data: One of the world's fastest land animals, from its light build to the blunt, unretractable claws on its paws, the cheetuft is build to run in a way no other feline can. Its speed is said to rival that of even of the rootachi! Though unlike the rootachi, the cheetuft cannot keep this speed up for extended periods of time (only lasts three minutes at the very most). But it's usually more than enough to insure whatever they're hunting won't be escaping. If they can help it, cheetufts will almost always be seen hunting in the daytime -- they rely extremely heavily on eyesight to spot their prey. Their typical method of hunting involves creeping close to the prey, chasing them down, toppling them with their paws, then latching onto the throat and suffocating them. If they can't manage to trip them, a strategically placed shadowball usually does the trick well enough. Unfortunately, once its burst of speed is spent, the cheetuft is left completely exhausted. What the cheetuft has gained in speed, its lost in sheer brute strength. Its not an uncommon thing to see pokemon such as mightyena, persian, and kunarl stroll off with a cheetuft's kill in its jaws. Once its regained the strength to do it, cheetuft have been seen to drag their kill up into trees (if there's one nearby) and try and prevent thieft. As earlier evidenced, female cheetufts at least are solitary creatures. Males, on the other hand, are known to form bands of several at a time. If brothers survive into adulthood, they will stay together in this fashion for the rest of their lives. These bands of males establish territories overlapping that of the females'. Whichever band resides there will have the right of mating with the female whenever she goes into heat. A wounded leg could permanently cripple a cheetuft. Something which in the wild would be a fatal blow. With no way to chase down prey, the cheetuft obviously wouldn't last long. Again, unlike most felines, cheetufts are incapable of sounds such as roaring or yowling. They can however hiss, purr, growl, bark, yelp, and even chirp to their cubs (or in some rarer cases, they'll use this to lure creatures such as pidgey and spearow towards them). Cheetuft are also a surprisingly passive species. In the instances where humans have caught them to tame them (rather than skin or just simply slaughter them, blaming them for murders of livestock), they've easily adapted. Those for obvious reasons, they'd probably be better off as a pet or something along those lines than a battler. Discovered by: Coral Breeding group: Feline Replaces in Ecosystem: Cheetah Eats: Carnivore. Has been known to go after things as small as nidoran and as large as young or weakened stantler. Social Structure: Mostly solitary, though if male siblings survive to adulthood they become inseperable. Habitat: Most commonly seen in wide open plains, but can live in forests and mountainous areas as well. Rarity: Uncommon Brief comment: Breeding method: Sexual
