This information came to
light in a conversation Bradmon Weerakoon, a former Secretary
of the Prime Minister, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena and
former Norwegian Ambassador Westbourg had with
Pulidevan of the LTTE. The telephone conversation revealed
how Mr. Weerakoon, who served as the then Prime Minister
Ranil Wickramsinghe’s secretary, had extended facilities for
the LTTE to secure this equipment. Information on many
transactions of Mr. Wickramsinghe with the LTTE leadership was
disclosed in this conversation. Another plan by Mr.
Wickramasinghe to grant an interim administration to the LTTE
via the parliament was also mentioned. It was disclosed that
Norway had footed the bill of the satellite equipment. Several
newspapers had reported the information, which surfaced in this
discussion. Meanwhile, Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle in an
interview with the “Rivira” newspaper said a CD of the
conversation was secured from a shop in London loyal to the LTTE.
