The Wise King and
the Tsunami
![]()
Once upon a time in a tiny island in the South Pacific, there lived a Wise King and his loyal subjects. The people always looked up to him to explain to them the secrets and mysteries of the Universe that befuddled them in their daily lives. He was the only Wise King they have known and he always had the answers for everything.
One day a strange-looking and noisy bird with 2 whirling wings above its huge body sat on its legs on the island's beach. Some strangers with blue eyes and light-colored skin jumped out of the belly of the big bird and tried to force the islanders to run up their mountain. They ran to get their Wise King instead.
The Wise King strode slowly to the beach in all his royal splendor,
surrounded by his Medicine Man and his brave warriors. He listened to the frantic strangers but could not understand their language. He could only hear one word which they kept screaming - TSUNAMI! TSUNAMI! TSUNAMI!
The Wise King has seen strangers before from the many islands around them. He remembered they wanted to steal his island and people from him but his brave warriors always drove them away and kept his loyal subjects safe. He was about to order his waiting warriors to rain arrows upon the strangers who wanted to steal his island and people from him but before they could do so the strangers ran back into the belly of the big bird in disorderly retreat and flew away. The Wise King thought to himself, "I thought they would at least give my brave warriors a little fight for it before running away. Cowards!" and smiled.
He commanded his people assembled on the beach to kneel down and thank God for their safe deliverance from the Evil Men who wanted to drive them up to the mountains inhabited by Evil Spirits and steal their island. They were still humbled prostrate on their hands and knees on the beach when they heard God's powerful voice rumbling in the distance moving closer as rolling thunder to where they were. They were very happy and rejoiced at God's unfailing love for them.
And they all lived happily ever after, sitting around God in Heaven.
