The Flowers in the Crevice

Once upon a time high up in the mountains there was a tiny plant that grew beautiful tiny flowers. the mountaintop was covered with snow for most of the year but there were a few short weeks when the warm sun would creep into the crevice where the tiny plant lay asleep. The hot sun would also warm the north wind and together they would wake up the tiny plant from its winter slumber. And again as it has done for thousands of years the tiny plant would thank them by bringing forth her beautiful tiny flowers. The sun would shine brighter to warm her and the north wind would gently caress her tiny little flowers.

One summer day, a woman hiker climbed up the snow-covered mountaintop. aside from the shadows of the ridges that shaded the trail all she could see
for miles around was the white soft melting snow. As she turned to look for her companions her eyes caught a flash of bright color inside a small crevice in the snow. She carefully walked towards it and peeked and saw the most beautiful tiny flowers she had ever seen in her life.

"Hello, little flowers, you are the loveliest thing i've ever seen in my
life! why are you hiding all alone up here where no one can see you? I
have a beautiful garden filled with many beautiful flowers that are a joy to
me and my friends who come to look at them. They will be very surprised and
envious to see you in my garden. come, my dear, i'll take you home with
me."

Wth great care she wrapped the plant with the beautiful tiny flowers in her bandanna and placed it in her backpack. As soon as she got home she took the plant out of the bag and planted it in her garden. But the plant was sad for it missed her mountain crevice. She had lived in it for thousands of years. She kept thinking of the warm sun and the north wind that would be looking for her. all night she cried for her home and friends. The next morning the woman found her all withered and dead.

There is a crevice high up in the mountains. The sun still peeks in and the
warm north wind blows gently into it but there is no tiny plant with the
beautiful tiny flowers anymore.

All because one godly woman thought it was useless where it was...and not
doing its thing!
