| L.A.I.R. is a non-profit organization that specializes in the more exotic types of animals. LAIR has been in the process of opening for over a year, and we officially opened in December of 2001. We take in sick, injured, wild, or abandoned animals and nurse them back to health. When the animals are healthy enough to survive on their own, we place them into good homes. We depend on donations to help us buy food, cages, and other things to meet the needs of our exotic pets. So, please send donations. Please refer to our Donations Page. |
| L.A.I.R was founded by a Registered Nurse named Helen Hammonds. The idea of starting a non-profit organizaion had never occurred to Helen until her best friend, Peggy, found an albino ferret that was nearly starved to death. The ferret had been left behind by Peggy's neighbors who rented the house right next to her. Two weeks after the couple was evicted, Peggy cleaned out the rest of the old house and found the ferret in a cage with no food or water. Fortunately, the little guy was found just in time. The ferret was named "Critter", and nursed back to health with the help of Helen's two daughters, Cassidy and Brionna. |
