Rove-Amilious stared glumly out the port window of his spaceship and sighed. His second-in-command (and the only other living thing on the ship) glanced over to where his captain was sitting with his face placed on his two left hands.
"Something wrong sir?" asked Wil-Vilios, as he fiddled with the control panel.
"No Wil-Vilous," Rove-Amilious replied. "I'm just bored. Trade missions are always so dull - I wish something exciting would happen." As if on queue, the control panel suddenly made a loud whirring sound, and an alarm began to sound.
"Warning. Warning." the computer declared in its flat, emotionless voice. "Ship has sprung a leak in leaf number 9. Fuel is dangerously low."
Rove-Amilious rushed over to where Wil-Vilious was quickly tapping away at keys to bring up the hologram of the rear of their ship. The image flickered as Wil-Vilious brought it up, but they both could plainly see the damage done - and more importantly, the fuel streaming from the torn tank. Desperately struggling to keep hold of the ship, Wil-Vilious turned to Rove-Amilious.
"We have to find a place to land, or we'll be stranded in the middle of space!" he cried. Rove-Amilious nodded absently, as he was already looking at a map of the galaxy blue tacked to the side of the hull.
"There!" he pointed to a small blue planet in a remote solar system nearby.
"Hold on to your tails," Wil-Vilious muttered as he tugged on the joystick controlling the ships flight pattern. Pulling out of hyper-space, the blue planet Rove-Amilious had selected suddenly loomed in front of them.
"Where do you want me to land?" Wil-Vilious asked through gritted teeth.
"Anywhere!" Rove-Amilious cried as he glanced at the virtually empty fuel tank o-meter. Using all his skills as a pilot, Wil-Vilious managed to land their ship on the dark side of the equator, so they wouldn't be spotted, in an area that wasn't too populated. Once the smoke had cleared, Rove-Amilious stepped out of the ship onto the foreign planet, hoping that the air was breathable for his species. What he saw took his breath away.
"Wil-Vilious!" he cried, beckoning over his shoulder. "Come and look at this!"
Wil-Vilious scurried over beside his captain, and together they stared in disbelief at the field of wheat that stretched before them as far as they could see in the dark night. A grin lit up their faces simultaneously as Wil-Vilious said, "I don't think we need to worry about fuel captain."
"There must be enough fuel here to supply an entire fleet to Phluton and back!" Rove-Amilious exclaimed, referring to a planet on the other side of the galaxy.
"Definitely enough to get us home," Wil-Vilious pointed out. The two glanced at each other, then dashed back inside and grabbed their gun-shaped energy phasers. They stepped out into the field, and once they were far enough away from the ship, began blasting energy rays around them. The result was several large, neat looking circles - most commonly known as crop circles. Suddenly, two heads popped up above the wheat stalks right near where Wil-Vilious was standing.
"Kachoonga!" he swore loudly.
"Arrrggghhhh!" the two men yelled, looking at Wil-Vilious' and Rove-Amilious' elongated necks, four-armed chest and thick spiked tails.
"Arrrggghhhh!" the two aliens yelled, taking in the weird pink skin, large eyes and tailless bodies. Wil-Vilious and Rove-Amilious turned and bolted back to their spaceship, pausing only to quickly empty their energy phasers into the fuel tank before taking off.
Wil Anderson and Rove McManus looked down at the whiskey bottles in each of their hands, then up to the sky where the carrot shaped spaceship was quickly vanishing into the night sky in a blaze of light.
"I told you we shouldn't have got something so strong," Rove pointed out to his companion. Wil nodded in agreement.
"Next time, we stick to beer."
