Get you latest copy of ffmpeg from the website above.

Trick #2:
If you keep getting the error message as below or your audio is jerking when playing movie in Linux using MPlayer, you audio source might be in 44.1KHz sampling rate

alsa-space: xrun of at least 0.077 msecs. resetting stream 1.0% 14 0 49%
alsa-space: xrun of at least 0.094 msecs. resetting stream 0.9% 20 0 49%
alsa-space: xrun of at least 4.613 msecs. resetting stream 0.9% 23 0 49%
alsa-space: xrun of at least 0.099 msecs. resetting stream 0.9% 26 0 49%

We try to check the input with ffmpeg and we found:

Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, 352x288, 25.00 fps
Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, stereo, 128 kb/s

Indeed it ia at 44.1KHz, this stream might play well with AC'97 Audio system but most of the time will not work well on HD Audio system. So let quickly fix our video
What we need to do is to change the audio sampling rate to 48KHz matching the native sampling rate for HD Audio system

ffmpeg -i myvideo.avi -ar 48000 -ab 128 -ac mp3 -vcodec copy myvideo48Khz.avi

Here we set audio: codec = mp3, audio sampling rate = 48000Hz, audio bitrate = 128Kbits
After done with the conversion, the audio should be fixed ;)
