We are delighted to announce the first annual HCI PIC symposium at Watson, bringing together HCI researchers, faculty members and select PhD students for a day and a half of talks, sharing, brainstorming, and networking . The symposium will run from 8:30 am on the 28th to noon on the 29th and will include a an enjoyable reception with colleagues and guests on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
The HCI PIC committee has spent a lot of time and energy lining up a series of terrific speakers; featuring keynotes, talented PhD students and a few of our very own researchers. Please see the list of speakers, abstracts and bios in the Program. We have also budgeted a fair amount of HCI PIC funds to cover travel expenses for our speakers, food for the breaks as well as the reception on the 28th. We did this because we feel that creating the opportunity for the community to come together to learn and share - to exchange ideas with some of our top faculty contacts - and to make connections with talented HCI students, is vital to the long-term health of HCI Research at IBM.
The symposium this year is something of a trial - if we have a low turnout, we won't be organizing it again next year. Please vote with your feet and support our HCI community (plus it will be fun :-)
Attendance at the symposium is free, however registration is required.
