Chapter 1: Quite The Challenge
As Lori and Jessica made their way through the hotel lobby, Lori got a nervous feeling in
the pit of her stomach. She just knew something amazing and wonderful thing was going to happen to her
and her friend. Butterflies started a rave in her tummy. She put her hands in the back pockets of her
jeans and entered the elevator.
"That was a great concert." Jessica said with a HUGE smile on her face.
"Yeah it was. The guys are getting hotter and hotter." Lori agreed. The elevator door closed and
they were now headed to the 10th floor of the Ramada Inn. For the next few weeks the girls would be
staying in the hotel. Lori was scared but happy at the same time. NO MORE PARENTS!!!! She had to be
thrilled about that. What teenager wouldn't be happy about being on their own?
"So, Lorr, you still crushin' on Matt or are you back to crushin' on Chris?" Jessica asked
starting a conversation. She looked at her friend who was off in a daze. When she didn't get an answer
she said, "Lorr! Hello! Earth to Lori!"
"Huh? What?" Lori asked slowly coming out of her daze. She shook it off and looked at her friend
who was laughing. "What are you laughing at? Is there something on my face?" Lori began to panic.
"No. There's nothing on your face. I was just wondering if you were crushin' on Matt or if you
were back to crushin' on Chris." Jessica said still laughing. For some strange reason she couldn't stop.
"Oh. I dunno. It's still a little hazy to me right now." Lori said. She giggled. "I wish Chris
would stop gellin' his hair. It looks good when he doesn't gel it." Nice change of subject Lorr.
Very good, Lori thought to herself.
The elevator finally stopped at their floor and when they got out they saw the guys heading
in their direction. Lori panicked and said, "I'm going back downstairs."
"Oh no you don't." Jessica grabbed her friends arm before she had a chance to escape. She couldn't
run from the guys forever, especially when seeing them in a hotel would only happen once in their whole
entire life. They had to take advantage of it!!!
"I have to go down to the lobby. I think I left my purse on one of the tables." Lori insisted.
"What's that hanging off of your arm?" Jessica asked eyeing the purse that Lori had in her hand.
Lori looked down and saw the purse there. "I'm such a blonde sometimes."
Lori looked back up and realized that the guys were getting closer and closer. Her palms began to
sweat and her heart started racing. The feeling that had taken over her scared her and made her even
more nervous.
"Do you two ladies happen to know where 1077 is?" one of the guys asked. It was Chris, the flirt
out of the five guys of Dream Street.
"It's the room right across from ours. We're in 1076." Jessica told them. "We were headed there
right now."
"Is it OK if we walk with you?" Chris asked looking at Jessica. Then he looked over and noticed a
more shy, quiet girl standing there staring at the ground. He looked back at Jessica. "What are your
names?"
"I'm Jessica and this is my friend Lori. She likes being called Lorr though." Jessica answered.
Matt, Jesse, Greg and Frankie looked from Jessica to Lori and back and forth.
"Does she talk?"
Matt asked looking at Lori then at Jessica and again at Lori.
"Yeah she talks. She's just....a little shy." Jessica hesitated. She didn't want to make Lori mad,
but she figured that she had to be truthful.
"We'll have to change that." Chris joked.
"I'm going to the vending machine Jess. I'll be back in like an hour." Lori said.
"An hour? What are you planning on doing, buying everything in the vending machine?" Matt joked.
Lori rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah. I'm planning on gaining about 10,000 pounds." Lori exaggerated.
Matt laughed.
Lori rolled her eyes for the second time and started walking off, but stopped when Matt
asked, "Can I go with you?" Then he said, "I need to buy a soda."
"Whatever." She shrugged and walked off.
Matt watched her then looked at Jessica. "This is going to be a challenge. She's tough."
"Nah. She's not tough. She's sweet and down-to-earth. She's pretty cool once you get to know her."
Jessica told him.
"I'm sure she is." Matt laughed.
"Lorr, wait up." Matt called after her.
Lori stopped when she heard her name and turned around to find Matt jogging towards her. In her
mind, she was laughing hysterically, but on the outside, she was petrified. When he stopped a few feet
away from her she could feel her heart start pounding even more. She felt as if she was going to faint.
"So, what are you getting?" he asked.
Lori stared at him like a deer caught in the headlights.
"At the vending machine." he added.
"Oh yeah right. I dunno what I'm getting. I'll have to see what they have first." Lori choked out.
"I recommend candy. The sugar will probably get you hyper." He laughed.
"It's like almost 10:00. I don't want to be hyper." she said sounding extremely irritated.
Matt stared at her and said, "OK." He thought for a minute then asked, "So, do you ever get
hyper?"
"Yeah." She said simply.
"When do you get hyper?" he asked out of curiosity. He waited patiently for an answer.
Lori thought for a minute then said, "When I'm alone in my room listening to music and I feel like
making a total fool out of myself. But that's only when I'm really in the mood to act like a fool."
"Hmmm....so, what do I have to do to see the hyper, crazy side of you?" he asked still staring at
her.
She shrugged. "Can we please just go to the vending machine?"
"Sure, but I want an answer tonight." He said.
"What happens if you don't get an answer tonight, will you be mad?" she challenged him.
"I won't be mad because I know I'll get an answer tonight." He smiled.
"You keep thinking that." She rolled her eyes and walked off.
"My name's Matt." he said when he caught up to her. He stood beside her as she stood in front of
the vending machine, debating about what to buy.
A shy, quiet, annoyed Lori said, "I know who you are." Then she went back to looking at what they
had for snacks.
"You know who I am?" Matt asked.
She quickly looked over in his direction and said, "Yeah" then the shy 15 year old girl went back
to looking at the semi-big selection of chips, candy and poptarts. She finally decided on Reeses Pieces
and when she was just about to put the dollar bill in the slot, Matt stopped her.
"What do you think you're doing?" she asked looking at him. She wanted to glare at him, but she
knew that she couldn't. He was way too cute!!!
"How do you know who I am?" Matt inquired.
Lori put the dollar bill in her pocket and looked at him. "You want the truth?"
"Yeah, I want the truth." he said shocked that she would even ask such a question.
"I'm a Dream Street fan." She shrugged. "So is Jessica. We're both fans."
"You're not like other girls." He said looking at her.
"What is that supposed to mean?" She eyed him.
"It's supposed to mean that....well, usually fans are all over us asking for autographs and
pictures....it's just nice to run into a fan who isn't like that." Matt said in a serious tone of voice.
"I'm not like other fans. Jessica isn't like all the other fans either." Lori told him.
"So, if you're a Dream Street fan, you were at the concert, right?" Matt asked.
"Y-yeah we were. We had balcony seats." Lori replied. She thought back to when she and Jessica
first left for the concert...all the fans surrounding them...she shuddered at the thought.
"You two should have found us before the show." Matt joked."We could have given you front row
seats."
"We did see you before the concert. You guys were surrounded by a bunch of fans." Lori said. She
took out her dollar bill and asked, "Can I please buy my snack now?"
"What are you getting?" Matt asked out of curiosity.
"I wanted to get Reeses Pieces. Is that OK?" She asked looking at him.
"I'll get it for you." He offered.
"Thanks, but I can afford a 75 cent candy." She told him. She put the dollar bill in the machine
while Matt stared at her then he bought his own drink, every once in a while glancing over in her
direction. She bent over to get her candy and she took it out of the dispenser. She stood up straight
and started heading back to the room. Matt grabbed his soda and hurried to catch up to her.
"Do you and Lorr want to hang out with us?" Greg was asking Jessica when Lori and Matt showed up.
Matt looked over at Lori and he glanced down at her hand. It was shaking and he took his soda in
his other hand then, surprising Lori, he took her hand and held it. She looked down and saw that he was
holding her hand which immediately made her let go. She slid her hand in the back pocket of her jeans.
"Hey, um, Jessica, can I have the key to the hotel room?" Lori asked.
Jessica turned around and said, "The guys want to know if we want to hang out with them."
"You can, but um, I need to get my beauty sleep." Lori told her.
"You don't need beauty sleep. You got to learn to loosen up and not be so uptight." Matt said.
"I'm not uptight. I don't need to learn to loosen up. I need...I don't know what I need. I just
know that I need to be alone right now." Lori retorted. "Can I please have the key Jessica?" she asked.
Then she added, "We have two keys. We can each have one."
"You can go back to the hotel room on one condition." Jessica answered looking at her.
"And what condition is that?" Lori asked dreadfully.
"You hang out with Matt." Jessica said. "It'll be fun. He doesn't bite. He's a nice guy and if he
tries anythhing just yell and I'll be over to kick his ass."
"That's very reassuring. Thanks Jess." Lori said dryly. "And I doubt he'd try anything."
"Have confidence Lorr. Have confidence." Jessica advised.
"Do I really have to hang out with Matt?" she whined.
"You'll have fun hanging out with Matt. He's a cool kid." Chris said.
"Hmm...that's what they all say." Lori rolled her eyes.
"If you get to know me, you'll see that I am a cool kid." Matt said.
"Fine. I'll hang out with you. Jessica, I want the key." Lori said caving in.
CHAPTER 2: One Tough Chic, One Not-So-Tough Chic
When Jessica tossed Lori the hotel room key she caught it in her hand and headed
straight to the hotel room, Matt on her heels. Once she came to their room she clicked the door open
and pushed it open. She went in and accidentally shut the door in Matt's face. She knew she was trying
to piss him off.
"Sorry," she said apologetically when she opened the door.
"You're so difficult." he said shutting the door behind him.
Lori walked over to the bed and flopped down on it. She grabbed the remote off the nightstand and
flicked on the TV. For a few minutes she channel surfed until Matt sat beside her and took the remote
control out of her hand. He turned the TV off.
"Are you trying to torture me?" she asked. "Why can't I watch TV?"
"Because I want to talk to you, that's why." He said.
"And why do you want to talk to me?" Lori asked half-heartedly.
"Because I do. I'm sure there's a sweet, sensitive side in there somewhere." Matt answered. "And
how come you don't want to talk to me? How come you're acting like I got a disease or something?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" she asked dumbfounded.
"I'm talking about how you're being mean to me for no reason." He replied.
"If you think I'm being mean to you then leave." She snatched the remote control out of his hand
and turned the TV on. She rested her head back on the pillows and said, "I'm sure you have better things
to do than hang out with a bitch like me anyway."
"I don't think you're a bitch. I just don't understand why you're shutting me out." Matt said
honestly.
"Neither do I. Maybe when I figure it out I'll let you know why." Lori said, her eyes glued to the
TV.
"You are one difficult chic." Matt said. He shook his head.
"If you think I'm difficult, then why are you here, WITH ME, in MY HOTEL ROOM?" she challenged
him.
"Because you're intriguing." Matt said simply. "I want to get to know you better."
"I'm sure you do." She said sarcastically.
"I DO." he insisted. "Can you please shut off the TV so we can talk?"
"What do you want to talk about?"
"YOU."
"ME? Why the hell would you want to talk about me?"
"Because I want to get to know you better."
"Aren't there other girls who you can get to know better? I'm sure all the other Dream Street
fans would love to spend time with you."
"I'm sure they would, too, but the only thing we'd talk about is pictures and autographs. I doubt
I can carry on a REAL conversation with them." Matt said seriously. "Fans can be pretty shallow."
"How do you know I'm not shallow?"
"I don't know, but most girls just like me and the guys because we're members of a boy band."
"How do you know I'm not like that?"
"I just have a good feeling about you. It's hard to explain."
"It's true that I'm not shallow and only like you guys 'cuz you're in a boy band, but...how did
YOU know right away? Do you know what's in my heart and soul? Are you some sort of a mind reader?'
"I'm not a mind reader and as much as I would love to know what's in your heart and soul I'm sure it's
going to be a while before you open the door and let me in."
"You're right about that. It's going to take a long time." she agreed. She sat up and looked at
him. He looked at her then he ended up staring into her eyes.
As the two teens continued to stare into each other's eyes, Lori had no clue that Matt had taken
her hand and was now holding onto it like a child holding onto a lolipop. Getting scared, Lori turned
away and didn't look at him. She stared up at the ceiling. She knew that if she looked at Matt she
wouldn't be able to stop. She could stare at him till the end of time. She was beginning to like him,
which aggravated the shit out of her. This wasn't supposed to happen. I wasn't supposed to fall for
him, she thought to herself. Or even like him for that matter. I was supposed to be a bitch to
him her inner voice said.
Then she heard his voice softly ask, "Can I hold you?"
She closed her eyes and prayed that it was some sort of dream...that Matt wasn't really there...
that he hadn't just asked her if he can hold her and that she would wake up from this 'nightmare'. It
happened though and she had no control over it. He did just ask her if he could hold her and he was in the
hotel room, sitting next to her on the bed.
"Lorr." he softly whispered.
"Hmm?"
He took her hand in his and looked out the window. He saw a lonely star in the big black sky and
wished, "I wish she would open up to me." He closed his eyes and a few seconds later he opened them.
Lori was sleeping like a little baby. He let go of her hand and went around to the other side of the bed
and got closer to her. He wrapped his arms around her and breathed her in. Her hair smelled like Pantene
Pro-V and her body smelled like Hawaiian Ginger. She moved around a little bit in his arms and then she
stopped when she found the comfortable spot. She put her hands on his and continued on sleeping like an
innocent baby. Soon Matt fell asleep.
CHAPTER 3: CHANGE OF HEART???
When Lori woke up the next morning she was shocked to see that Matt was laying beside her. Especially
when she realized that he was holding her in his arms. She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
It was too early to wake him up and start bitchin'. As soon as she closed her eyes, images of Matt
floated around in her mind. Get out, Get out, Get out, she repeated to herself over and over
again. No such luck. Matt was officially stuck in her mind and there was probably no way of him ever
drifting out of her mind.
A couple minutes later Matt woke up and he could hear Lori breathing. It was too quiet. He smiled
when he realized that he had just held her in his arms all night long, without one complaint. Matt
learned that she could be quite the softy, given a chance and time. He just hoped that his wish would
come true..the one about her opening up to him. He continued to watch her sleep, he couldn't wake her up
when she looked the way she did. She looked like an angel.
5 minutes later Lori woke up and rolled over so she was facing him.
"Good mornin' angel." he said smiling at her.
Lori groaned and said, "Good mornin' sunshine." She giggled.
Matt smiled and said, "That's the first time I've heard you laugh."
"I giggled." She said sweetly.
"OK. You giggled." He caved in.
"I take it you slept here last night."
"Yeah. I did. Is it OK if I did?"
"Is this some sort of a trick question?"
"No, it's not a trick question. Just be honest." Then he asked, "Did you like waking up in my
arms?"
She stared at him then shook her head. "Yeah."
"So you liked waking up in my arms?" he double-checked.
"I already answered that....yeah I did." she told him.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked as he looked at her. She was laying on her back, staring
up at the ceiling.
"Just stuff." she said simply.
He took her hand in his and she rolled over so she was facing him. She was drawn to him, but she
knew that she had to keep her distance. She couldn't get in over her head just yet. Then again, she was
in over her head. She had just met Matt yeseterday and today she was waking up next to him. Amazing yet
weird all at the same time.
"What kind of stuff?" he asked.
"Girl stuff."
"What kind of 'girl stuff'?"
"Hmm...I dunno. School. Friends. Family. Guys. Summer vacation. Shopping. Going to the movies."
She listed a bunch of different things. She wasn't about to tell him that she was thinking about him and
had been dreaming about him the night before. She couldn't let him know just yet. She had to keep him
guessing.
"Speaking of going to the movies, would you want to go with me to the movies?" he asked.
She stared at him and said, "I'll have to think about it."
He frowned. "Aww. OK." Then he asked, "So, um, what are you and Jessica doing today?"
"We were supposed to go bowling." she replied.
"You girls want company?" he asked.
"I'll have to talk to Jessica although she probably told the other guys about it, seeing how she didn't come back to the hotel room last night or whatever."
"Can I go bowling with you, Lorr?"
"Are you serious, why would you want to go bowling with me?"
"Because I think it'll be fun and we'll get to hang out. AND yeah I'm serious."
"Oh goody. Just what I want...to hang out with you." She said jokingly. She rolled her eyes.
"You're such a pain." He joked.
"So are you!"
The two just laughed at one another, but they stopped when they heard a knock at the door. Lori
let go of his hand and slowly walked over to the door. Matt sighed and rested his head against the
pillows and he stared up at the ceiling.
"Hey Lorr, is Matt here?" Greg asked.
"Yeah. He's here." Lori replied sweetly. Leave! I want to be alone with him!", she thought
to herself. Then her inner voice started yelling at her. OH MY GOD! You're not supposed to like him!
You're supposed to hate his living guts! Don't like him Lorr! If you start liking him you could end up
falling in love with him! You don't want that do you? NO I don't want that! Quit liking him! You don't
want to be alone with him! You want him to LEAVE!
Then she felt somebody's eyes on her. She glanced back at Matt and he was staring at her.
"Is it OK if I talk to him for a minute?" Greg asked.
She shrugged. "I guess."
"So, did you like hanging out with him?" he asked looking at her.
"No. He's a geek." she said dryly.
"Haha. Get to know him. He's not a geek. He's a cool guy." Greg told her.
"I'm sure he is."
"Well, um, I'll let you talk to him." Lori said before she walked off. She went over to her suit
case that was over on the other side of the room and started digging for an outfit to wear. I got to
wear something that will impress Matt, she thought to herself. No you don't! You want to scare
him away! You don't want anything to do with him! He's a loser!, her inner voice yelled at her.
Finally she agreed to low rider jeans and a pink baby-tee.
"So, Lorr tells me that she thinks you're a loser." Greg said still standing in the doorway.
"She doesn't think I'm a loser. I think she's beginning to like me." Matt assured his friend.
"Don't count on it Matt." Lori told him before she disappeared into the bathroom. She shut the
door behind her.
"She's warming up to me." Matt said in a serious tone of voice.
"Yeah, it um sounds like it. So, what are you and Lorr doing today?" Greg asked.
"I guess we're going bowling." Matt replied.
"Cool. We're going bowling too. It looks like we'll have to have teams." Greg joked.
"Girls against the boys." Lori said walking out of the bathroom. "We'll kick your ass."
"Haha. You wish baby." Matt teased.
"Don't ever call me baby and I'm a good bowler so you two freaks better watch out. You wouldn't
want to get beaten by a girl would you?" She said eyeing them.
"I wouldn't, but seeing how it's you I don't think I'd mind." Matt played along.
"You'll mind." She assured him.
CHAPTER 4: The Question Game
A few minutes later all the teenagers met down in the hotel lobby. The only problem was the guys
were surrounded by Dream Street fans, which made Lori get extremely irritated and jealous. She wished
she could be outgoing and all up in their face but she knew that wasn't her. It just wasn't her thing.
Matt sneaked his way over to Lori and walked up behind her. He slipped his arms around her waist and she
turned around.
"Hey cutie." He said with a grin.
"Oh boy." She rolled her eyes and got out of his embrace when a couple of girls started walking
over to them. "I'll let you hang out with the fans." She walked off and disappeared into the hotel
restaurant.
Matt sighed and muttered, "I want to hang out with you! I don't want to hang out with the fans."
"Hey Matt." a pretty girl with long blonde hair said. She had an extremely short jean skirt on and
she was wearing a halter top.
"Um, hi." Matt said nervously. He looked into the hotel restaurant to see Lori staring at him
through one of the windows.
Once Matt and his friends signed a ton of autographs he went into the restaurant and saw Lori
with her head in her hands sitting at a table. She looked hurt and upset about something. That much was
obvious to Matt. He just didn't know why. He sat down across from her and said, "Hey Lorr."
With her head still in her hands, she said, "H-Hi."
"You OK?" he asked.
"I'm fine." she lied.
"No you're not. Tell me what's wrong." He could see right through her.
"Nothing's wrong, Matt." She got up and walked off, but she didn't get far. Matt had grabbed her
arm. She turned around and saw him looking at her. "Let go of me NOW."
"If I let go of you, will you stay with me and not leave?" he asked looking at her.
"You're such a loser." She shook him loose and stood there for a few minutes before deciding to
leave.
"I may be a loser, but you love me." he said as he followed her.
"Don't flatter yourself Matt." she retorted. She rolled her eyes.
"So, Lorr, did you have fun hanging out with Matt last night?" Jessica asked when Lori walked over
to her.
"He's a loser." she told her.
"No he's not. Give him a chance." Jessica said.
"I don't wanna give him a chance." Lori whined.
"Sure you do." Jessica insisted with a laugh.
*~*~*In the Vehicle*~*~*
Lori, Matt and Jessica were sitting in the first row of seats. Frankie was driving and Chris was in the
passenger seat. Jesse and Greg were in the back row of seats.
"Who wants to play a game?" Jessica asked.
"What kind of game?" Lori asked.
"The questions one." Jessica replied.
"Oh yeah I remember that game. It's pretty cool." Lori said.
"So, who goes first?" Chris asked.
"It's so bright. Anybody have a pair of sunglasses?" Lori asked.
"Here ya go. Be careful with them." Chris said handing her a pair of his famous sunglasses.
"Thanks Chris." Lori said taking the sunglasses out of his hand. She slipped them on and
said, "This is much better."
"You look good babe." Chris complimented.
Lori giggled and said, "Thanks, I think."
"So who wants to go first?" Jessica asked.
"I will..." Greg said.
"OK. You can go first." Jessica agreed.
"This question is for Matt." Greg started.
Matt rolled his eyes and said, "Oh goody."
"Did you and Lorr kiss at all last night?" Greg finished.
"Oooh." Everyone joked.
Lori and Matt rolled their eyes.
"No we didn't kiss last night." Matt answered.
"Did you want to kiss her?" Greg asked.
"You already had your turn Greg." Matt said. "Now it's my turn." He turned to Lori.
"Lori." he said.
Lori rested her head on the seat, closed her eyes, and wished that he didn't pick her. "Ask away."
she said.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked keeping it simple.
"Nope." she said with her eyes still closed. She opened them and looked out the window.
Matt was hoping that she didn't, he was starting to like her.
CHAPTER 5: The Competition: Boys Vs. Girls
Greg, Chris, Frankie and Jessica walked into the bowling alley; Lori, Matt and Jesse following close
behind.
"So, what are the teams?" Jessica asked as she sat down in the chair. She pulled her sneakers off
and slipped on her bowling shoes.
"Girls versus the boys." Lori said.
The guys snickered.
"Be prepared to lose Lorr." Jesse said confidently.
"Be prepared to lose Jesse." She retorted.
"I don't think we'll lose." Jesse told her.
"Guys are going down." Jessica put in.
"Yeah!" Lori high-fived Jessica and they giggled.
"So, who's going first?" Greg asked. "Guys...or the two ladies?"
"Ladies first...as always. We can see what we're up against." Matt replied. He looked over at Lori
and said, "Good luck sweetie. You're going to need it."
"Good luck Bally. YOU'RE DEFINITELY going to need it." she retorted.
Matt and his friends laughed.
"Do you want to go first Lorr or should I go first?" Jessica asked.
"Um...you can go first." Lori said hesitantly. She finished lacing up her bowling shoes and she
took a seat that was across from Matt.
Jessica got a strike and she did a victory dance. Lori high-fived her as she took her seat.
"You're up Lorr." the guys told her.
They snickered.
"Sweet." She said excitedly.
She stood up and picked up a bowling ball and positioned herself. She heard snickering and smart
ass remarks behind her. They're going to wish they've never been born, she thought to herself
, Concentrate Lorr. You can do it
The first ball she got a gutter ball and the laughter began. She got extremely mad so she knocked
down all the pins except for two with her second ball. Two pin split. She knew she couldn't do it.
"Go Lori! Go Lori! Go Lori!" The guys chanted.
Then they all burst out laughing which eased into snickers.
She knocked the two pins down with her third ball. She pushed the button which set the pins up
again then she went back to her seat, practically shaking.
"Good job Lorr." Matt complimented.
"Save it Matt." Lori snapped. She sat down and watched him get up.
"It happens everytime when I see you, It happens everytime when I think of you," Jessica sang,
hoping it would distract him.
First ball Matt knocked down 2 pins, second ball he knocked down 3 pins and the third ball he
knocked the rest of them down.
Halfway through the game Lori and Matt walked off to go buy french fries.
"You're a good competitor Lorr." he said.
"This is coming from a guy who was snickering at me, laughing at me, and making smart ass remarks
about me with his friends." she said not sounding very amused, let alone happy. "Oh well. It isn't the
first time. I might as well get used to it."
"We were goofing around." Matt told her.
2 1/2 hours later the group left after a good game of bowling, which Lori and Jessica won
by 10 points.
"Good game Lorr. Good game Jessica." Greg said.
"Thanks." Lori and Jessica said giggling. They ran off and started doing little victory dances,
singing "We beat DS! We beat DS! We beat DS!" Halfway through the celebration though Matt picked Lori up
in his arms and walked away.
"Put me down!" She said squirming in his arms.
"You had your fun now I'm going to have MY fun." Matt told her.
"Are you going to kidnap me?" she asked.
"No." he answered.
"Then what are you doing?" she demanded.
He put her down and she glared at him.
"Do you think Matt likes Lorr?" Jessica asked the guys.
Jessica, Chris, Greg, Jesse and Frankie were all watching Matt and Lori, waiting to see what
would happen next.
"I dunno. He might like her." Chris said.
"Does she like him?" Jesse asked.
"I dunno. She could. It's been a while before we've talked about who she likes." Jessica admitted.
"She's mean to him though." Greg said.
"She isn't mean to him. She's playing hard to get." Jessica said.
"Is that what she's doing? Playing hard to get?" Jesse asked. He laughed.
"I have no clue. She could be. I haven't talked to her since yesterday." Jessica said.
"Matt spent the night in your hotel room." Greg said looking at Jessica.
"Nothing happened though." Jessica said. "I doubt Matt and Lorr did anything. They met each other
yesterday."
"I think he likes her." Greg said. "You can just tell that he does."
"We'll have to talk to them. We should all go back to our hotel room, order room service and play
Truth or Dare." Jessica suggested.
Without a second though, everyone agreed.
"You were right. You are a good bowler." Matt was telling Lori.
"You're a good bowler too." she told him. "NOT!" She giggled.
"Oh now you're really going to get it." He said. "I'll give you to the count of three to run...1
.....2......."
Lori began to run for it.
"3." Matt said. He chased after her and when he caught up to her he grabbed her arm and she
tripped. She fell down on the green grass and he knelt beside her. "You OK?" he asked.
She reached up and hit him in the face. "JERK." she said.
He grabbed her hand when she was about to hit him again and he closed his eyes, leaning in to kiss
her. She moved out of the way and he ended up kissing the grass. Matt heard a slight giggle which made
him open his eyes. Lori was giggling a few feet away.
"You're so cruel." he shook his head trying hard not to laugh.
"You've got to be cruel to be kind." she said in a sing-song voice.
Matt laughed and crawled over to her. He took her hand and said, "I like you."
"Yeah. I like you, too." She burst out laughing.
"I'm serious." he insisted.
"I'm serious too." she said sardonically.
Matt shook his head and asked, "What am I going to do with you?"
"I dunno. Ignore me?"
"With your attitude and appeal, I don't think I can ignore you." he said seriously.
"Uh-huh." she laughed.
"Lorr, how long are you and Jessica staying here?" he asked changing the subject.
"A few weeks." she replied.
"Awesome. This gives me enough time to persuade you into going out with me." he said happily. "And
it gives me time to persuade you into going to the movies with me. Things are working out great." He
smiled, which made Lori's heart melt.
"You got your work cut out for you." She told him.
"Yeah, I do, but it's worth it." Matt said honestly.
"If you say so." she said.
"I do say so."
Before she could stop him or do anything he kissed her quickly on the lips. He slowly backed away
after. She stared at him in complete shock. She was nervous, scared and petrified all at the same time.
Being this close to him frightened her and she could only imagine how close she would be getting to him
in the few weeks she was there.
CHAPTER 6: TRUTH...OR DARE? I CHOOSE....DARE! (Getting Too Close)
Back at the hotel, the group of seven teenagers made their way into the elevator. Lori loved elevators,
but when she got stuck in it she wasn't very thrilled. It stopped between the 9th and 10th floors. She
sunk down in one of the corners and started hyperventilating. Matt noticed and sat down beside her,
slipping his arm around her shoulders.
"You OK?" he asked.
She looked over at him and said, "No."
"You smell good." he said trying to get her to think about something other than being stuck in the
elevator.
"Um...thanks." she choked out.
He took her hand and said in a whisper, "Don't be scared. It'll be OK. The elevator will start
moving any second."
She started shaking and she curled up into a little ball. Matt wrapped his arms around her and
held her. Then he started to sing to her which made her fall asleep in his arms.
"Look at Matt and Lorr." Greg whispered to his friends.
"She's warming up to him." Jessica said.
Then the elevator started moving a few minutes later, Lori still fast asleep. When the elevator
doors opened Matt picked Lori up in his arms and got out, following his friends. She moved around in his
arms and she buried her head in his chest, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Somebody's making themselves comfortable." Greg joked.
"As long as she isn't upset with me, she can make herself as comfortable as she wants." Matt said.
He brushed the hair out of her face and said, "She's starting to warm up to me."
"I knew it'd be a matter of time. I just had to have patience." he added to himself.
"Are we still playing Truth or Dare?" Jessica asked.
"Definitely." Greg said with a smile.
A few minutes later they came to Jessica's hotel room. Lori opened her eyes and Matt looked down at her
in his arms when he felt somebody watching him. He kissed her on the forehead and said, "Hey you."
"Hey to you too." she said sleepily.
Everyone entered the girls hotel room and Matt sat down on the bed with Lori still in his arms.
She rested her head on his shoulder and asked, "So, what game are we playing now?"
"Truth or Dare." Her friends replied.
"Great game." She yawned.
Matt looked at her and thanked God in his mind for making his wish come true. He hoped that it
wouldn't change.
"Who wants to go first?" Jessica asked looking at all the victims.
"I'll go first." Matt said. He smoothed back Lori's hair and ran his fingers through it. It was so
soft, shiny and silky. Then he rubbed her back.
"OK Matt. Truth or Dare." Jessica said.
"Truth." Matt said as he continued to rub Lori's back.
"Is it true that you have a crush on Lori?" Jessica asked.
"Hmm....y..yes." He said nervously.
"Oooh." Everyone said. Everyone except for Lori and Matt.
Lori stretched out her legs and waited for her turn. She was going to choose dare.
"OK. So who wants to go next?" Matt asked.
"I will." Jessica volunteered.
"Truth or dare." Matt said.
"Dare." Jessica said cheerfully.
"I dare you to kiss Greg for 3 minutes." Matt looked at Jessica.
"3 minutes? Are you kidding?" Jessica whined.
"At least I didn't dare you to make out with the wall." Matt told her.
"OK. OK. Fine. 3 minutes." Jessica said. "So where do me and Greg have to kiss?"
"Hmm....closet." Matt said.
Greg and Jessica got up and went into the closet. At first they just stared at each other but then
they ended up kissing. 3 minutes later they came out.
"Who's the next vict--who wants to go next?" Greg asked.
"I'll go." Lori volunteered.
"OK Lorr. Truth or Dare." Greg said slyly.
"Dare." she said in a serious tone of voice.
Everyone ooohed and aahed.
"I dare you to go in the closet and make out with Matt for 10 minutes." Greg said.
"10 minutes?" Lori asked in complete horror.
"It'll go by fast." Greg assured her. He lied through his teeth.
Lori rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah right."
She stood up and went into the closet. Matt shot his friends a dirty yet happy glare then went
into the closet. He shut the door behind him.
"You want the light on or off?" he asked.
"Off." she replied. What Matt didn't know was that she never kissed a guy before so this was going
to be her first kiss. She was so scared.
He turned the light off and said, "I can't see you."
She took a couple steps towards him and rested her hands on his shoulders. Once his eyes adjusted
to the darkness he could see her. He rested his hands on her hips, closed his eyes and leaned in to kiss
her. When their lips touched Lori had no clue what she was getting herself into. She was so scared!!!!
She had no kissing experience whatsoever. Before she knew it she was kissing him back and he was getting
into it, REALLY into it. It was too intense for her to stomach. It was passionate and long and sweet and
just...perfect. But then the 10 minutes were up and they heard knocking on the door. They were still
kissing..making out...whatever. She was laying on top of him and he reached up underneath her shirt and
started rubbing her back. Her skin was so soft and smooth. A shiver ran up and down her spine at the
slightest touch of his hand.
"Time to come out you two!" a voice shouted from the other side of the door.
"I...I..I think...." she tried to catch her breath. "our time is up." she finished.
He stared at her and brushed the hair out of her face. He kissed her once more on the lips and
said, "It's up for now but it's not up officially."
"Keep thinking that." she whispered. She kissed him on the cheek as she got off of him, but he
pulled her back on top of him and started kissing her all over again. She responded to him and ended up
kissing him back.
"What are you two doing in there?" another voice demanded.
"They're probably...." the third voice drifted off.
"They met each other yesterday. They wouldn't be...doing that." a fourth voice said. That voice
belonged to Frankie.
"You never know. They like each other. A LOT." the second voice told him.
"Lori's not like that. She's not going to sleep with a guy on the second day. She's not a slut."
The voice belonged to Jessica.
"It could change though. She does like Matt. A LOT." The first voice said. The voice belonged to
Chris.
"How do you know she likes Matt a lot?" Jessica asked.
"Because it's obvious. She's playing hard to get." Chris answered.
"Shut up you guys!" Matt shouted at them.
"Get away from the door!" Lori yelled at them.
Matt and Lori were standing up and listening to their conversation. Lori fixed her shirt that was
all messed up and ran her fingers through her hair. Matt glanced over at her and said, "You're so
beautiful."
"Thanks. You're beautiful too." She giggled.
He took her hand in his and pushed the door open.
CHAPTER 7: TWO GOOFBALLS
"You guys were in there for a long time." Frankie said when Lori and Matt joined them.
"What were you guys doing in there anyway?" Chris asked.
"What do you think we were doing? We were doing the dare." Lori said.
"Yeah. We didn't....well, you know. You guys worry way too much." Matt added.
"You guys actually thought we were having.....?" Lori choked out.
"It's an hour later." Jessica told her.
"What were we supposed to think?" Greg asked.
"Well, we weren't having sex. I'm not that easy." Lori replied in a serious tone of voice. "Plus,
I'm waiting."
"How long are you waiting?" Chris asked.
"Wedding night." She shrugged. "I'm saving myself. I'm only 15. I can barely take care of myself.
I can't take care of a baby."
"That's good to know."
"You guys really thought we were----?" Lori broke off. She burst out laughing.
"I don't know why they would think that. Do they really think I would force you to do something
that you didn't want to do?"
"Who said that I didn't want to?" She joked. "Just kidding!" She quickly added.
Matt looked at her in complete shock. "Somebody's opening up."
"Don't get used to it." She told him.
"Why not?" he asked.
"'Cuz I just don't want you to get used to me opening up." she shrugged.
"So are you two going out?" Greg asked looking at Matt and Lori as they continued to flirt.
"No." Lori and Matt said together.
"Well, I think it's safe to say that they like each other." Chris said.
"And why do you think that?" Lori asked eyeing him.
"Because you guys were in that closet making out for more than 10 minutes." Chris said.
"Do you have to keep reminding me?" Lori whined.
"You know you liked it." Matt teased.
She hit him in the back of the head and said, "SHUT UP! I DID NOT!"
"Now I know you did!" He joked.
"You're such a loser." She said jokingly.
"If I'm a loser what does that make you?" he asked.
"Not interested." She laughed.
"HEY! That wasn't very nice!" He said. He started tickling her and she squirmed in his arms.
"Quit it! Come on Matt! Quit it!" She shouted at him. She kicked and screamed.
"Match made in heaven." Chris said as he watched his friend and his new "girlfriend".
"Apologize and I will." Matt told her.
"I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry." she said. She got out of his embrace and held his arms
behind his back so he couldn't tickle her anymore.
"This isn't very nice. I can't move my arms." Matt said as Lori continued to hold his arms behind
his back.
"Ha. Ha. HA." She laughed. "You're not supposed to."
"You're so mean to me." He whined.
"You two are losers." Jesse said.
"If we're losers then you're a loser." Matt said.
"Very funny." Jesse rolled his eyes.
"Come on babe. Let me go." Matt said.
"SUCK IT UP." Lori told him. She laughed. "You're a guy. Aren't you supposed to be tough and not a
....how do you say it? ....Wussy?"
"I'm not a wuss." Matt said.
"Then suck it up. You're a guy. You're supposed to be tough and strong. Isn't that what you were
singing about in 'With All My Heart'?" she asked him.
Matt looked back at her and said, "Yeah, but still....my arms are really starting to hurt."
"Better?" She asked as she sat behind him, letting go of his hands.
"Yeah. Thanks." He replied.
She traced letters onto his back and a shiver ran up and down his spine. He couldn't believe she
had opened up so much. She was actually being herself...the crazy, whacky, goofy side was coming out of
her. Matt couldn't be happier. She ran her pointer finger down his back and another shiver ran up and
down his spine. He reached behind him and took her hands in both of his and he had her wrap his arms
around him. She rested her head on his shoulder and held him tighter. And closer.
When their friends noticed what was going on they left and went back to the guys hotel room.
Jessica went with them. Lori watched the door close and she let go of Matt and curled up in bed. Matt
looked back at her and cuddled with her.
"Well that was fun." he said.
"Which part? The dare part or the part where they thought we were having sex?" she asked.
"Kissing you." he said.
She glanced back at him and said, "Y...yeah. That...It was pretty fun."
She closed her eyes and images of Matt danced around in her mind.
"So you liked kissing me?" Matt asked.
"Mmhmm." was all she said.
"Lorr?" he asked in a whisper.
"Mmm?"
"Can I keep you?" he asked in the same low whisper. He knew he got that from Casper, but hey, he
thought it'd be cute. And it was.
"Mmmhmm."
He wrapped his arms around her and she smelled just as good as she did yesterday. She soon fell
asleep.
About an hour later there was a knock on the door so Matt got up, being careful not to wake her up
and answered the door. It was Jessica.
"Hey Matt." Jessica greeted him with a friendly smile.
"Hi Jessie." Matt said.
"Is Lorr sleeping?" Jessica asked.
"No. I'm not sleeping." Lori said sitting up in bed.
She walked up behind Matt and put her arms around him. "Hey Jessie."
"Hey Lorr." Jessica smiled at her.
"What's up?" Lori asked.
"The guys want to know if you two wanna join us down at the pool." Jessica said.
"You feel like going down to the pool?" Matt asked looking back at Lori who still had her arms
wrapped around him.
"If you go." She blurted out. She couldn't believe that she was starting to show Matt that she
liked him. It was beginning to piss her off.
"Yeah, I'll go, if you go." He mocked.
She hit him in the head and said, "Don't mock me!"
"I wasn't mocking you." he said innocently.
"So are you two coming?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, if she wants to." Matt answered.
"SHE has a name." Lori said.
"Haha. OK. We'll go if Lorr wants to." Matt corrected himself.
"Thank you." Lori smiled.
"She's difficult, Matt. Are you sure you can handle her?" Jessica joked.
"I think I'm doing a good job so far." Matt replied confidently.
"Don't go getting a big head on me now." Lori told him.
"OK. I won't. She's probably...Lorr's probably going to keep me grounded." Matt said, correcting
himself halfway through his sentence.
"She probably will." Jessica agreed.
CHAPTER 8: SURRENDER
Down at the pool Lori sat down in a chair and listened to her disc man. Matt watched her and then sat
down beside her. He shut off her disc man and said, "Come on cutie."
"Where are we going?" she asked taking off her headphones.
"In the pool. Let's go." he told her. He took her hand, helping her up and he walked with her
over to the edge of the pool. She jumped in and splashed Matt. "Thanks sweetie. I was dying to get
wet before I even went in the pool."
"I'm sure you were." she joked. She stuck her tongue out at him then swam over to the other
side of the pool. "Come get me." she muttered to herself. "If you can."
"Don't stick out your tongue unless you plan on using it." he muttered to himself. He smiled to
himself.
"I think she wants you to go get her." Chris joked. He walked up behind Matt and shoved him in
the pool then started laughing his ass off.
"You are so gonna get it." Matt snapped at him.
Lori swam up behind Matt and jumped on him and brought him under. Chris, Frankie, Greg, Jessica
and Jesse burst out laughing when they saw Matt's face. It was priceless.
He splashed her and said, "Very funny Lorr."
"I thought it was. The expression on your face was priceless." She giggled.
He swam over to her and said, "You better watch your back. I'm gonna get you so bad." He grinned.
"You wish." She smirked.
"Just watch your back cutie." He smiled at her and took her in his arms. He kissed her and she got
out of his embrace and said, "Don't try to butter me up. It isn't gonna work." And with that she stuck
her tongue out at him.
"Don't stick out your tongue unless you plan on using it." He thought out loud.
Lori burst out laughing and said, "I won't be using my tongue anytime soon."
"I can dream can't I?" he asked.
Lori laughed even harder and said, "I guess."
"You're so mean to me." Matt whined. He splashed her and said, "Now I really wanna get you back."
"I'm teasing you. I didn't know you'd get offended." She rolled her eyes and went under the water
and swam to other end of the pool. Matt swam over to her and he snuck up and put his arms around her
waist. Then he picked her up and tossed her.
"You're so mean to me!" Lori shouted at him.
"You got to be cruel to be kind." He mocked.
"You're an asshole." She retorted. She splashed water at him and climbed out of the pool. She
wrapped a towel around her and sat on the edge of the pool. Matt swam over to her, grabbed her hands and
pulled her in. He laughed and said, "And you're....."
She glared at him and he said, "Special."
She laughed and said, "Nice save Matt."
"Thanks." He kissed her cheek and hugged her.
"So, um, are you always like that?" he asked.
"Always like what?" Lorr asked confused.
"Are you always mean to guys you like?" He smirked.
"What are you talking about Matt?"
"Well, you're mean to me and I was just wondering if you were mean to guys you like."
"Don't you even think that I like you because I don't."
"You do like me. I know you do. It's obvious."
"You sound very sure of yourself, but the truth of the matter is, you just met me yesterday so you
don't know what's in my heart or what's going on in my mind."
"But I would like to."
"You'll have to figure me out." She shrugged. "Now can I please get out of the pool?"
"Wanna go in the hot tub?"
"No."
"Please?" he begged.
"No."
"Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top?"
Lori giggled and said, "NO."
"Pretty pretty please with a cherry and whipped cream on top?"
"Ok. Fine. You win." She surrendered.
"About time you surrendered to me." He smiled at her.
"I didn't surrender to you." She stuck out her tongue.
"Why do you keep sticking your tongue out at me?" he whined.
"'Cuz I feel like it."
"Good reason."
"You don't have to be sarcastic."
"You don't have to be sarcastic either."
"I'm not being sarcastic. I'm being me..and I have a sarcastic attitude sometimes."
"Sometimes? Try all the time." he corrected.
"You're cruel." She started to swim away but Matt grabbed her around the waist and pulled her in
close to him.
"You're cruel too."
"You got to be cruel to be kind."
"You got to be cruel to be kind."
"Jerk." She tried to get out of his embrace but he just held her tighter and closer.
"I'm not a jerk."
"Then quit being mean to me."
"You're being mean to me, too."
"No I'm not. I'm being me."
"So you're mean to everyone?"
"I didn't say that. I'm not mean to everyone."
"I wish we could go back to last night."
"Why?"
"Because you basically surrendered to me. You didn't complain once about me holding you."
"I'm not complaining now."
"No....you're not," he agreed, "I just hope that you don't start complaining."
"You have a lot of faith in me don't you?"
"I do."
"Uh-huh." She rolled her eyes.
"You are so difficult sometimes." he laughed.
"Hmm..." She closed her eyes and got lost in a deep thought. Then she opened them. "Did you use a
line from Casper last night?"
"I asked you what Casper asked that girl....he asked her if he could keep her and I asked you. You
said Mmmhmm."
She wiggled his way out of his arms and turned around to look at him. "We should watch that
movie."
"You want to go to Blockbuster or something and rent it?" he asked her.
"If you want to." She smiled then she hugged him. He was surprised but didn't object. He put his
arms around her and asked, "Is this your way of surrendering?"
"It'll be a while before I completely surrender." she said looking at him.
"Good thing you're here for a few weeks. I can spend time with you so I can get you to surrender."
"You'll have your work cut out for you."
"It's cool. I like a challenge, that's why I haven't given up on you."
"Cute Matt. Very cute." She smiled at him.
He smiled back at her then gently kissed her on the lips. She kissed him back then broke away.
She climbed out of the pool and wrapped a towel around her. He climbed out of the pool and walked over
to her. "Lorr, I need to tell you something."
CHAPTER 9: THE FEELINGS COME OUT
"What do you want to tell me?" Lori asked eyeing him.
"I really like you a lot." he said truthfully. "When I'm with you....I don't know....I just..love
being with you. I love spending time with you. You're fun to be around. You keep things interesting and
you're unpredictable, which I love."
"Matt." She began. She took a deep breath. She couldn't believe she was going to say what she was
about to.
"Yeah sweetie?" he asked.
"I- I love spending time with you, too. And I love the fact that you haven't given up on me." She
spilled.
"Really?" Matt asked surprised.
She nodded. "I haven't..." her voice trailed off.
"Don't shy away now. Tell me what you were going to say."
"I haven't felt this way with anyone before. I mean, I haven't felt this way about anyone before."
she stopped for a minute then said, "I like you Matt."
Matt smiled and said, "I was hoping you did."
He gave her a hug then draped his arm around her shoulders. "Come on." he said.
"Where are we going?" she asked.
"I'm gonna walk you back to your hotel room so you can change then I'm going to take you to a
movie rental place so we can watch Casper and....I asked if I can keep you when you fell asleep earlier
today."
"What'd I say?"
"You said Mhmmm like Christina Ricci did."
She looked over at him and said, "I got the better deal though."
"And why do you say that?" he asked.
"Because you're alive and Casper wasn't." she said looking at him. She looked into his eyes and
got lost in them.
"You mean you rather have a guy alive than dead?" he joked.
"I'd rather have you alive than dead Matt."
"Well thanks babe. That was sweet."
"Glad you think so." She giggled.
Matt stared at her and said, "I love your giggle."
"Thanks." She smiled at him.
"Your giggle just gives me another reason to love you."
"This is great."
"What is?"
"Just....I dunno." she shrugged.
"Sure you do."
"I like being with you."
"I like being with you, too babe."
He slipped his arm around her waist and she put her hand on his. She laced her fingers with his
and he kissed her cheek. "I could easily fall in love with you." he said.
Lori looked over at him in complete shock. "Are you kidding me?"
"No. And how do you know that I'm not already in love with you?"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"I mean, I could be in love with you and you don't even know it."
"You're tricking me, aren't you?"
"Why would I trick you?"
"I dunno....to get me to like you even more than I already do and then you could end up breaking
my heart."
"I wouldn't want that to happen, would I?"
"No because Mr. Ballinger you really don't wanna see me pissed off."
"I'm sure you're sexy when you're pissed off even though I don't want you to get mad at me."
"Well, thanks, but whether I'm sexy or not when I'm mad doesn't matter."
"Where are you guys going?" Greg asked.
"I'm going back to her hotel room so she can change and then we're going to rent Casper so we can
watch it." Matt replied.
"Oooh. Have fun you two." Greg teased.
"Can we watch Casper with you?" Jessica asked walking up behind Greg.
"Hmm....sure." Lori and Matt hesitated. They glanced over at each other and they both knew what
the other was thinking.
CHAPTER 10: HOOKED ON YOU
"They look so cute together." Jessica gushed as she watched Matt and Lori huddle together. They were
looking at Dude Where's My Car? in BlockBuster.
"Do you want to get this one?" Matt asked looking at her.
She looked over at him and quickly gave him a kiss on the lips. As she backed away, she shied
away. Matt looked at her and said, "You're so cute."
"You are too." she told him.
"Do you want to rent Dude Where's My Car?"
"Yeah. Ashton Kutcher is so hot." Lori gushed.
Matt rolled his eyes and said, "You like Ashton better than me."
"No I don't."
"You like me better than Ashton?" His whole face lit up.
Lori laughed, "Ashton's way older than me. You're around my age. I have more in common with you.
"Do you like Sum 41?" he asked randomly.
"I love Sum 41." She smiled.
"Awesome. What's your favorite song?" he asked looking over at her.
"Just guess." she smirked.
"Fat Lip?"
She sang part of the song and Matt joined her. They started dancing around and acting like fools,
but neither one of them cared too much to stop. They were having fun.
"They're having fun." Chris said as he watched Matt and Lori.
"She likes him." Jessica said. "Yep. She definitely likes him."
"That was obvious yesterday." Greg joked.
"You're sexy." Matt complimented as he looked at Lori.
"You're sexy, too." She grinned.
Matt laughed and said, "You really think I'm sexy?"
"Yep. I do." She had a smile on her face.
"Thanks dollface."
"Anytime baby."
He put his arms around her waist and held her, but she got out of his tight embrace.
"We can cuddle later." she told him with a smirk.
"We can?" he asked surprised.
She shrugged. "If you want to."
"Yeah I want to, but let's pick out some movies first."
"Alright. Dude Where's My Car, yes or no?"
"Yes."
"Alrighty then." She took Dude Where's My Car off the shelf and went to the romance section. When
Matt realized where she was he groaned.
"No chic flicks." he said.
"Aww come on Matt." she whined.
"OK. OK. One chic flick."
"We still have to get Casper, too." she added.
"Can I keep you?" he mocked. He started laughing his ass off, but stopped when he saw the look on
Lorr's face. "Sorry. I just..I had to get it out."
"Were you saying that to me just so you could get a good laugh?" She frowned.
"No. Of course not." He assured her. "I just....I dunno. Forget I even laughed."
"I like your laugh though. It's a turn on." She burst out laughing.
"You're a turn on." He told her.
"Oh goody. My mission in life." She rolled her eyes and giggled.
Matt started singing "Hooked On You" to her.
Oh... Yeah, yeah...
Every time you come around me
I get strange shivers up my spine
Ever since the day you found me
I can't seem to think a single thought that's mine
I've never met a girl who treats me like you do
Or makes me feel so out of control
You take me up and then you tear me down
I oughta run away but I don't wanna go (Woh yeah)
I'm hooked on you, no matter what I do (What I do)
I got it bad but I like it, like it
I'm hooked on you, on everything you do (you do)
I wanna give you up, but baby I'm hooked on you
You know I'm hooked on you...Woh yeah...
You don't know what you do to me
When I watch you dancing on the floor (dancing on the floor)
But baby you act like you see right through me
Like you've never even seen my face before (seem my face before)
No no
And then you turn around and ask me for a ride (for a ride)
You've got me so confused now, baby
Why do I love you? I'll never understand
I wanna run away but I can't let got (Woh yeah)
I'm hooked on you, no matter what I do (what I do)
I got it bad but I like it, like it
I'm hooked on you, on everything you do (you do)
I wanna give you up, but baby I'm hooked on you
I like it, I like it... Oh yeah...
I'm hooked on you, baby can't you see
But I don't understand the things you do to me
You use me, confuse me, and that's not all
You build me up just to watch me fall
I try to find another love
I try but I just can't get enough of ya
You know it's true
Baby, baby, I'm hooked on you
I've never met a girl who treats me like you do (like you do)
Or makes me feel so out of control
Why do I love you? I'll never understand
I oughta run away but I don't wanna go (Woh yeah)
I'm hooked on you, no matter what I do (What I do)
I got it bad but I like it, like it
I'm hooked on you, on everything you do (you do)
I wanna give you up, but baby I'm hooked on you
Hooked on you, no matter what I do (What I do)
I got it bad but I like it, like it
I'm hooked on you, on everything you do (you do)
I wanna give you up, but baby I'm hooked on you
(Hooked on you...Hooked on you...Hooked on you...Hooked on you...)
I'm hooked on you, baby can't you see
But I don't understand the things you do to me
You use me, confuse me, and that's not all
You build me up just to watch me fall
I try to find another love
I try but I just can't get enough
I need ya, I want ya, you know it's true
Baby, I'm hooked on you
CHAPTER 11: I'M SO SCARED!!!
"You're so sweet Matt."
"You are too."
"You know how before you said that you could ....." she trailed off. She didn't want to sound
conceited.
"Don't start shying away now." Matt told her. "Say what's on your mind."
She looked down at the ground and being stubborn, she said, "I forgot what I was going to say."
"No you didn't. Tell me." Matt insisted.
"I can't tell you. You---I'm gonna go see Jessica." Lori said before she walked off and
disappeared into another aisle.
"Hey Lorr. How are things going between you and Matt?" Jessica asked when Lori walked up to her.
As soon as she saw the expression on Lori's face she said, "Uh-oh. Something's wrong."
"Yeah. There is. He said that he could easily fall in love with me and I chickened out. I was
gonna tell him the same thing. I got scared. I'm not supposed to feel this way about him. One of these
days he'll end up hurting me. I just..I'm chickening out right now. I can't show him how I truly feel. I
just can't." Lori explained. "When I'm with him, I just, I don't know. I love spending time with him. I
love being with him. I love being around him. He makes me laugh and he's easy to talk to.." her voice
trailed off.
"If you think he's easy to talk to Lorr, how come you can't tell him what you just told me?"
Jessica asked in a serious tone of voice.
Lorr shrugged. "I'm a chicken. A BIG chicken who can't tell Matt how she feels. Any other Dream
Street fan could tell Matt how she feels, but me...I can't say how I feel."
"Matt doesn't want other Dream Street fans. He wants you. He really likes you a lot. I can tell by
the way he acts around you." Jessica said.
"What are we talking about?" Chris asked walking in between Lori and Jessica, draping his arms
around each of their shoulders.
"Lorr's scared to show and tell Matt how she feels." Jessica said.
"No I'm not." Lori said getting embarrassed. She shook Chris's arm off of her. Right at that very
moment she didn't want to be touched. She wanted to be left alone. Her eyes drifted around the store and
her blue eyes landed on Matt who was busy talking to Frankie, Jesse and Greg.
Too bad he had to be so damn hot and so damn likable, she thought to herself. If he
wasn't, I probably wouldn't be in this mess.
*With MATT, FRANKIE, JESSE and GREG*
"What should I do you guys? She won't talk to me. She's starting to shut me out." Matt was saying
to his friends.
"You should find out why she's shutting you out. Did you say something to scare her or say
something offensive?" Frankie asked him.
"I just said that I could easily fall in love with her." Matt shrugged.
"You told her that?" Jesse practically shouted.
"I can't hide my feelings....I wasn't lying so I told her." Matt told him.
"Do you think she feels the same way..that she could easily fall in love with you?" Greg asked.
Matt thought for a minute then said, "Maybe, but if she feels that way, why can't she just tell
me?"
"Think about it...yesterday she barely wanted anything to do with you and today..well, today's
your lucky day....she could actually be liking you and too scared to say anything." Frankie said.
"If she's scared, why can't she just tell me? It's not like I'm scared. I met her yesterday and I
already think I could easily fall in love with her." Matt said. "We both feel the same way. I'm just...
up front with how I feel....and I don't like the fact that she thinks she can't talk to me."
"You should talk to her Matt." Jesse advised.
"I know I should, but I doubt she wants to talk to me." Matt said. He looked around the store and
his eyes landed on Lori, who was pacing back and forth, obviously deep in thought. I wish she could
understand that I'm not a creep and that she can talk to me about how she feels. If she's feeling what
I'm feeling right now...., he thought to himself, Maybe she's shutting me out because she just
got out of a bad relationship or something. Yeah. Maybe that's it.
He got out of his daze and looked at Lori who was staring at some movie case a few feet away. She had gotten closer to him. All he wanted
to do was hold her and love her. It's not like he wanted to kill her. Then he thought back to earlier in
the day when he asked her if he could keep her....her answer was yes. He smiled at the thought.
*WITH LORI*
"That movie sounds so fuckin' lame." She thought out loud. She put the movie back on the shelf it
was on and turned around and walked over to the shelf that was near the window. It ran up and down the
store. Then she heard footsteps and she smelled cologne. She knew some guy was behind her. She turned
around and saw Matt slowly approaching her. Great. Now he's scared of me. This is just dandy.,
she thought to herself. She rolled her eyes.
"Are you mad at me?" he asked her when he saw her roll her eyes.
"No. I'm not mad at you. Why would I be mad at you when I just met you yesterday?" She gave a weak
smile.
"You rolled your eyes. I just thought...." Matt got cut off.
"I was thinking something and I rolled my eyes. You didn't do anything wrong." She assured him.
"So what were you thinking about?" he asked out of curiosity.
"Oh. Um...just stuff." Lorr said, not wanting to get into any more details.
"Lorr, come on. I hate this. Talk to me. Please don't shut me out." He begged. "You can talk to me
about anything. I need to know what's going on."
"Nothing's going on. Some things are private." she said.
"True, but still.....I care about you and I want to know what's going on in that head of yours."
She didn't flinch let alone laugh or giggle. She just stared at him, not knowing what to say to
him.
"Lorr? Please?" He knew he sounded like he was about ready to cry, but he didn't care. Knowing the
fact that she wouldn't talk to him scared the shit out of him. He couldn't handle it. He was beginning
to worry about her.
"Maybe we should skip the movie thing today." She said.
"What? Why?" Matt stared at her in complete horror.
"Because I think it'll do me some good before...." She broke off.
"Before what?" he asked. He took her hand but she let it go.
Before he could say anything she walked off in tears. She put back the movies and headed outside to sit on one of the benches.
"Matt, what's wrong?" Chris asked when he saw his upset friend. His head was down and his hands were in his pockets.
"I have one guess." Jesse put in.
"Lorr?" Chris asked.
Matt didn't say anything. He stared at the floor and then walked outside. A tear fell from his eye. A few more tears fell from his eyes when he saw Lori crying. He wished she would trust him and have faith in him. He wanted her to be able to talk to him. He wanted her to be open with him. When he sat down at the other end of the bench she moved away and stood near the door so she could see when her friends were coming out. When they came out Matt had a tearstained face and Lori was sulking. The two were extremely miserable and they wanted to talk to one another, but they were too scared of what the other one would say.
"Are you two ready to go?" a curious Jessica asked. She looked Matt up and down and then looked at her friend, who was sulking. Her head was down and her arms were folded firmly across her chest.
Lori took a quick glimpse at Matt and then looked at Jessica. "No, but I want to get out of here. I need to sleep and eat something. I feel sick to my stomach."
"OK then. Let's go." Jessica said.
CHAPTER 12: LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE! (JERK)
In the van Lori sat next to Matt after a lot of convincing and begging from Matt. Jessica sat in front with Frankie and Chris, Greg and Jesse sat in the back. Chris poked Lori in the back which made her turn around.
"What do you want Chris?" she asked looking at him.
Matt looked at her and when she looked back at him he looked away. He was too hurt to look at her. He just didn't understand her. He knew he had to figure her out and all that other good stuff, but he liked it better when she was wild, crazy and goofy...not shy and DEFINITELY NOT when she was shutting him out.
"Will you and Matt ever kiss and make up?" Chris asked.
"I don't want to talk about my situation with Matt. That's under wraps." Lori said before she turned around. She took out her CD player and she put on her headphones so she could zone out without any interruptions. She pushed play and "Hooked On You" began to come through her headphones. Matt looked over at her and looked away. As the ride continued he just stared out the window.
When they arrived at the hotel Lori and Matt jumped out and Lori raced to the elevators, immediately pressing the close button so the doors would shut and none of her friends would be allowed in but somehow Matt crept in.
"This is just great. I was hoping to get the elevator all to myself." She thought to herself.
She looked at Matt, who was curled up in a little ball with his head in his hands. "I'm such a bitch." she muttered to herself.
Matt heard her, but didn't look up. "You're not a bitch babe." he whispered to himself.
When they reached the 10th floor Lori jumped out and raced to her room, leaving Matt alone. She slammed the hotel room door shut and flopped down on the bed. She burst out crying. By the time Jessica entered with Chris, Greg, Frankie and Jesse she had a tearstained face. Matt followed. When she heard the door shut she looked up and saw her friends standing there.
"Lorr, um, can, can we, can we please talk?" Matt stammered.
"I don't feel like talking." She told him. A tear rolled down her cheek which Matt wiped away when he sat down next to her. He hated seeing her this depressed. Even though he was upset he was more worried about what was going on with Lorr.
"We really need to talk." Matt insisted.
Lori rolled her eyes and said, "FINE. I'LL TALK. WHATEVER WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY."
"Come on." He held out his hand, but she pushed it away and got up by herself.
He led the way to his hotel room and opened the door, letting Lori go in first. They sat down next to each other on the bed, but Lori moved away and sat on the other bed. Matt sat next to her and said, "Don't move from this spot."
"WHY?" she demanded.
"Because I want to sit next to you. We really need to talk. We have to get our feelings straightened out. We need to get it all out in the open."
"I didn't know I'd be so dramatic. I'm such a drama queen." She flopped down on the bed and said, "I don't know why you want to sit next to me."
"Because I like you a lot, that's why." Matt said. "And that's one of the reasons why I haven't given up on you."
"You should give up on me." Lori thought out loud. "I'm not worth it."
"I'm not giving up on you and you are worth it. That's why I'm fighting you."
Lori closed her eyes and got lost in a deep thought.
"Lorr. Come on. Wake up. Don't go to sleep on me. We need to discuss this." Matt said. He gently shook her.
"OK. OK. FINE. I'm up." She sprung up and glared at him. "Is this better?" She rolled her eyes.
"Yes." Matt said sounding satisfied.
"Great." She rolled her eyes again.
"What were you going to tell me earlier at Blockbuster?" Matt asked her.
"You're still hooked on that?" She moaned.
"I want to know what's going on wit you Lorr, aight?"
"Aight. Whatever. Fine."
"So, you wanna tell me?" he asked.
"Sure I wanna tell you, but I'm..." she broke off and before Matt could yell at her about shutting
him out she said, "Scared."
"Scared? Scared of what?"
"I'm just scared of what's going on. I mean, I'm supposed to hate you. I'm not supposed to like you. You're supposed to hate me, not like me, if you still do. I just...this isn't going at all the way I planned."
"Things never go the way you plan."
"I guess." She shrugged.
"And I still like you."
"I can't believe this. You're supposed to be running away. I'm supposed to be pushing you away. Ugh. I'm getting so fuckin' annoyed."
"So you're trying to push me away? Is that really what you're trying to do?"
"Yeah. Whatever." She rolled her eyes.
"Quit rolling your eyes!" he shouted at her.
"Then leave me the hell alone!" she shouted back at him. "Jerk." she mumbled.
CHAPTER 13: EASILY FALL IN LOVE
"I don't want to leave you the hell alone." Matt told her. "And you can call me a jerk all you want. I know you care about me and like me. And pushing me away isn't going to work. I'm going to be around until you leave, which I really hope you don't. I really want to be with you."
"Matt?" she asked sweetly. She inhaled and exhaled. All she could smell was Matt's cologne, which smelled really good.
"Yeah princess?" he asked looking at her.
She looked at him and said, "I..I really want to be with you, too."
Matt smiled and said, "I was hoping you wanted to be with me."
"Well, I do."
"Lorr.." he began.
"Yeah baby?" she blurted out. She blushed.
"Haha. I'm glad you finally surrendered to me." he told her.
"I would have eventually." she admitted. "I wouldn't lead you on."
"I wouldn't lead you on either."
"I can't believe I'm actually saying this....I mean after the fact that I totally shut you out and
was a total bitch to you, but um, about you saying that you could easily fall in love with me....well, I
could easily fall in love with you."
"You really didn't want to tell me that?"
"No. I was too scared. I mean, I met you yesterday and I just...I don't want to rush into
something and end up getting hurt. I want to take things slow. And about that dare thing....it's not
like we wanted to...we were pretty much forced to."
"What would happen if we wanted to? Would you want to?"
"I'm waiting for the right moment. I want to be with the right guy and I want to be going out with
him." She spilled. "I don't want to kiss some guy who I'm not even going out with. That dare thing....
that was one exception."
"So, what would you say if I asked you out?"
"I'd say give me a couple weeks. I have to warm up to you." She giggled.
"There's that famous giggle that I love." Matt smiled and threw his arms around her. She giggled
again and buried her head in his chest, wrapping her arms around him.
"You're skinny Matt. You have to gain weight." She joked as she poked him in the stomach.
"You're skinny, too." He poked her in the stomach and said, "You should get a belly ring."
"Why?"
"Because I think it would make you even more sexy."
"You should get a nose ring." She burst out laughing. "Or a tongue ring." She laughed even harder.
"You got to love her." He said out loud as he held her tighter.
"You got to love him." She mocked as she poked him in the sides. She was trying to find his
tickle spot and when she found it she didn't stop tickling him. He squirmed in her arms and screamed. She
laughed and said, "Hahaha. I found your tickle spot."
"Now it's my turn to find your tickle spot." he told her.
"You'll never find my tickle spot." She stuck her tongue out at him.
"Sure I will." he said.
She flopped back on the bed and said, "You wish Ballinger."
"Is that an invitation?" he joked as he looked at her.
"WHAT? IS WHAT AN INVITATION?" She sprung up and looked at him.
"Haha. Never mind." He said.
She pointed at him and said, "Don't you dare start shutting me out." She laughed.
"Oh...um...you just..you laid down on the bed and I was just wondering if that was an invitation."
"An invitation to what?" she asked confused.
"An invitation to....kiss you." he said.
She laughed even harder. "No, it wasn't an invitation." Then she added, "I'm just tired."
"Wanna wrestle?" he joked.
"Be prepared to get your ass whooped." She said.
"You really think you can beat me up?" Matt laughed.
"No. You're tougher than me. You can beat me up though." she replied.
"I wouldn't want to though. If I beat you up you wouldn't talk to me ever again."
She flopped back on the bed again and picked up a pillow. "PILLOW FIGHT!" she shrieked. She hit
Matt in the head with it and he fell off the bed.
"NO FAIR!" he yelled at her. He grabbed a pillow off the other bed and jumped to the other bed and
started hiting her with the pillow. When she fell backwards onto the bed he climbed on top of her and
started hitting her all over again. She punched him in the stomach and he hit her even harder with the
pillow.
When she got her strength back she hit him with the pillow and he fell off of her and landed next
to her then she climbed on top of him and started wailing on him with the pillow. He took the pillow out
of her hands and tossed it to the other bed. He reached up and stroked the side of her cheek and cupped
her chin in his hand and leaned in to kiss her. Their lips met and Lori kissed him back....sweetly and
passionately. It was as if she was longing for his kiss. He moved his hands to her back and then ran his
fingers down the side of her face.
When it got hot and heavy he reached up underneath her shirt and started lifting it up. He put his
hand on her stomach and started kissing and sucking on her neck. Butterflies filled her stomach and
prayed that he wouldn't go too far. She was enjoying it, but still she was nervous. She knew guys could
get carried away. She just hoped Matt knew when to quit. Lorr redirected him back to her lips and he
kissed her passionately and heatedly. She kissed him back the same way, but after a few intense minutes
of making out with him, she stopped and slid out from underneath him. He rolled over and faced her. He
glimpsed at her tummy that was showing and said slowly, "You really should get a belly ring."
Then he tried to catch his breath. Lori was already trying to cathch her breath.
"If I did get a belly ring do you think it would rip out?" she asked looking at him. She reached
for his hand and held it.
He got closer to her and said, "No 'cuz I'll be careful."
"You'll be careful?" She eyed him.
"Yeah. I mean, if we have another make out session like we just did I'll have to be careful not to
hurt you. I don't want your belly ring to rip out. That would hurt and the last thing I want to do is
cause you pain." He explained.
She kissed him on the lips, slowly backing away afterwards and said softly, "You are amazing."
"Do you want to spend the night here with me?" he asked looking at her. "And you're amazing, too."
"I have to tell you something though." she said.
"What's that?" Matt asked.
"Well, I, um, I haven't had a lot of kissing experience. Basically what I'm trying to say is that
you're the first guy I've ever kissed." She replied looking him in the eyes.
He stared at her for the longest time then said, "Well, I'm happy I was your first."
"So am I." She smiled and kissed his hand.
"Really?" He was surprised and shocked.
"Yeah." She still had a smile on her face.
"What else do I have to learn about you?" he asked eyeing her.
"I dunno, but I know you'll learn something new about me every day." she said. "I just hope you
don't forget about me when I go home."
"I'll never forget you honey."
She just smiled when he said honey.
"What?" he asked when he saw the look on her face.
"You have a lot of nicknames for me...." she said.
"Yeah, I do....dollface, princess, honey, babe, baby....sweetheart...munchkin...cupcake...sexy...
Mrs. Ballinger...hmm.....I'm sure there's more that I haven't even used yet."
"Mrs. Ballinger?" She eyed him.
"It has a nice ring to it. I didn't know your last name so I just called you Mrs. Ballinger." He
smiled at her. "What is your last name?"
"I knew you were going to ask me that eventually." She groaned.
"What is it?" he asked eagerly.
"Well, it's a language." she said, trying to make a joke out of it.
"Italian? Is it Lori Itallian?" Matt asked.
Lori laughed and said, "No. It's not Italian."
Matt thought for a minute then said, "Spanish. Lori Spanish."
"Definitely not."
"Frenchy!" he said. "Is it French?"
Lori laughed and said, "You're a genius."
"Is it French? Really?" Matt asked excitedly.
"Yeah."
"French Toast." he joked.
Lori glared at him.
"sweet and yummy." He smiled at her.
"AWESOME save." She giggled.
"Thanks." he said proudly. "So can I call you Frenchy and French Toast?"
"I guess." she shrugged. When Matt eyed her she said, "Yeah, but I only want you calling me French
Toast."
"You got it baby girl." He smiled proudly and said, "I got another nickname for my girl." Then he
said, "My girl...baby girl...Frenchy...French Toast....honey...princess...dollface...babe...baby...
sweetheart...munchkin...cupcake...sexy...Mrs. Ballinger...Ms. French...." He listed the nicknames he had
for her. He chuckled and said, "God I love you."
When he said, "Smile....you've got French's" Lori glared at him and said, "Don't you ever say that
again."
"How come?" He frowned.
"Because....I dunno." She giggled.
"You're crazy Frenchy."
"Crazy Frenchy! I got another one! Matt you are on a roll!" Matt said excitedly.
"You're a loser." she joked.
"If I'm a loser what does that make you?" He raised his eyebrow.
"Interested." She grinned.
"You're interested in a loser?" Matt eyed her.
"One loser for another." she reminded him.
"Cute Lorr. Really cute." He thought for a minute then said, "I got another one...cutie."
"How many nicknames do you have for me Matt?" She asked him.
"Hmm...17." He smiled.
"17 nicknames and I don't have one for you?" she double-checked.
"Lorr?" he asked.
"Yeah Matt?" Lori looked at him.
CHAPTER 14: I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU TOO
"I, um, really really like you." he said. "And...I....I think I'm in love with you."
She fell back on the bed and said, "I never thought you'd be......"
"You never thought I'd be what?" he asked laying beside her.
"I never thought you'd be the type of guy to fall for me in two days." she told him.
"I told you I could easily fall in love with you." he turned his head and looked her in the eyes as
he said that.
"Matt, I have to be honest with you....."
"About?"
"Well, I'm not going to say those words yet....I have to be sure about how I feel. I have to stay
true to myself. As much as I like you and wanna be with you....those three words are extremely special
and when I say them I have to make sure it's the right guy and that I do love him." she explained.
"That's cool because...I um...feel the same way. I know in my heart that I do feel that way, but I
haven't exactly said it in the way I want to say it....you know in a romantic place or whatever." He had
a hard time getting out the word romantic because he didn't want Lori to think he was a wuss.
"You're turning into quite the little softie Matt." she said.
"All thanks to you, but I knew there was a romantic side in me....I just had to wait for the right
girl to come along."
"Honey?" he asked.
"Yeah baby boy?" she asked looking at him.
"You bring out the best in me." he said in a serious tone of voice. "I never knew a girl like you
could have this kind of effect on me."
"Is that a good thing? Or a bad thing?" Lori asked.
"Good thing. Of course." He smiled at her. "I'm the luckiest guy ever."
"And why do you say that?" She eyed him.
"Because I'm with you and that makes me lucky."
"Yeah. I guess it does." She agreed.
"Can I keep you?" he asked looking at her. He stared into her eyes and he only saw one thing. He
saw...LOVE. At first it scared him a little, but then he realized he was looking at her the same way.
She closed her eyes and replayed what he had just asked her in her mind and slowly let "Forever"
roll off her tongue and out of her mouth.
"Lorr?" Matt asked softly. He smoothed back her hair and brushed the hair out of her face.
"Hmm?" she asked with her eyes still closed.
"I love you." he whispered in her ear.
She opened her eyes and turned her head in his direction. "I love you too Matty boy."
Matt smiled when he heard what she had just said. She smiled back at him and put her hand on the
side of his face. She closed her eyes and fell asleep, images of Matt dancing around in her mind. Her
heart was racing and her tummy was full of butterflies. The feeling that had taken her over was
incredible, the best feeling in the world.
CHAPTER 15:
"Have any of you seen Matt or Lorr?" Greg asked.
It was the next day and Greg and his other friends were in the hotel restaurant eating breakfast. It was
8:00 a.m..
"Well, we slept in Jessica's hotel room last night so I'm only guessing that Lori and Matt made up with
each other." Jesse said.
"They are really cute together." Jessica gushed.
"Yeah they are." Greg agreed.
"So what do you guys feel like doing today?" Chris asked changing the subject.
"Today's Sunday right?" Frankie asked.
"Yeah today's Sunday." Jessica and Greg replied in unison.
Everyone became quiet when Lori and Matt strolled into the restaurant holding hands. They stared at the
two as they made their way over to the table and took two seats at a table a few feet away. They held
each other's hands and stared at each other.
"They're in love." Chris said when he saw the way they were looking at one another.
"Yeah they are." Greg agreed.
"What can I get you guys?" a waitor asked standing beside Matt's and Lori's table.
"Chocolate milk with two straws." Matt said, not looking away from Lori.
"One chocolate milk with two straws coming right up." The waitor said before he walked away.
"Did you hear what they ordered?" Jesse asked his friends.
"No. Did you?" his friends said.
"No. That's why I was asking you." Jesse replied.
"They ordered a chocolate milk with two straws." Frankie said as he watched the waitor set down their
drink on the table.
"How cute is that." Jessica gushed. She smiled. She was so happy for her friend. She only wished she
could hook up with one of the guys. She had a BIG crush on Greg.
"They drank that fast." Greg said.
"They were thirsty." Chris explained.
"Can we get another chocolate milk with two straws?" Matt asked the waitor.
"Another chocolate milk with two straws coming up." The waitor said before he disappeared behind the
counter.
"Matt." Lori whispered.
"Yeah baby girl?" he whispered back.
"I love you." she said softly.
"Right back at ya." he smiled at her. Then he leaned over the table and gently kissed her on the lips.
When their friends saw what was going on, Jesse asked, "Are they going out?"
"Sure looks like it." Frankie said.
"I haven't seen Matt this happy." Greg said.
Lori looked over and saw her friends staring at her and Matt then she looked at Matt. "I really do love
you Matt." She whispered.
"I really do love you, too." he whispered back. He took her hands in his and said, "You mean so much to
me babe."
"You mean so much to me too."
