Truth Comes Out- Chapter One

Alex H., Jessica and Kristin were three beautiful girls from Laguna Beach and they were rich. Even though they were rich they weren't your typical spoiled rich kids. You know- the stuck- up snobby type. Of course outsiders thought they were, but they didn't really care. People were going to think what they wanted to think.

"Do you guys know Kristin?" Greg was asking his best friends and bandmates, Chris, Jesse, Matt and Frankie.
"Kristin as in Kristin Cavalleri, the most snobby girl at our school?" Jesse repeated.
"Kristin as in Kristin Cavalleri, the most hottest girl at our school?" Chris asked.
"That would be her." Greg replied.
"What about her?" Frankie asked.
"Well." Greg hesitated.
"You like her don't you?" Matt eyed her.
"Can you blame me?" Greg asked him. "She's so beautiful. She's so- I know I barely know her or whatever, but I really like her a lot."
"How are you gonna get her to like you though or whatever? I mean, she's one of those rich snobby kids that thinks they're hot shit." Jesse said.
"I don't know. I have no clue." Greg admitted.
"Just go up to her and talk to her." Chris suggested.
"Yeah, but she's always with her clique." Greg told him.
"She's one of those popular girls." Jesse reminded him.
"I know. Believe me. I just---" Greg got cut off.
"Does she work?" Matt asked.
"Probably not. Her daddy's paying for everything." Jesse said.
"Do you like hate Kristin or something, Jesse?" Greg asked sounding very annoyed. He thought for a minute then said, "Wait...Matt....aren't you good friends with Kristin?
Matt smiled. "Yeah I am."
"You're so lucky. I mean, Kristin doesn't even know I'm alive."
Matt still had a smile on his face. "That's what you think dude."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Greg asked suspiciously.
"She knows you're alive dude." Matt assured him. "And to be completely honest with you, she likes you."
"She likes me? Are you kidding me?"
"Yes and no."
"Kristin Cavalleri likes me?" Greg asked in complete shock, making sure he heard his friend right.
"Don't rub it in." Matt told his friend.
"I'm sorry. I just can't believe that Kristin actually likes me." Greg said.
"Kristin can be such a snob." Jesse cut in.
"She's down-to-earth and she's really cool." Matt said. "She just seems like a snob because you don't hang out with her."
"Even if I did hang out with her- OK. I probably would think differently if I hung out with that particular clique." Jesse confessed.
Changing the subject, Frankie asked, "So Chris are you still into Jessica?"
Chris nodded. "Yeah I'm still into her."
"Do you think you could hook me up with Kristin?" Greg asked Matt.
Matt, not wanting to admit that he had feelings for Kristin (or that he was getting feelings for Kristin), said, "I guess I could."
"Are you going to ask her out?" Frankie asked.
"Matt do you like Kristin?" Jesse inquired.
Matt froze on the spot. All of a sudden all the attention was on him. Denying it, he said, "No. Of course not. She's just my good friend. Nothing more. Nothing less." I love Kristin and if you hurt her Greg I'll hurt you, he thought to himself.

*With Jessica, Kristin and Alex H.*

"I heard that Matt likes you." Alex told Kristin.
Kristin just looked at her as if she was crazy. "He doesn't like me. I mean, I heard him talking to his friends about some girl named Kelsey or whatever the hell her name is."
Alex shook her head. "He doesn't like anyone named Kelsey. He does like you though."
"But he's just my good friend." Kristin reminded her.
"Didn't you and Matt 'hook up' in Cabo a couple years ago?" Jessica joined in the conversation.
Kristin nodded. "Yeah but we were both drunk."
"So. You still hooked up." Jessica insisted.
"OK. We hooked up in Cabo." Kristin finally gave in.
"Hooked up as in kissed or hooked up as in---?" Jessica broke off.
"Hooked up as in....hooked up." Kristin said.
"So you guys did more than kiss?" Alex asked.
Kristin shyly said, "Yeah."
"Oooh." Alex and Jessica teased.
"Shut up. I mean, I thought we were together in Cabo but then as soon as we got back to Laguna he started hitting on other girls. It was just a fling." Kristin said.
"I take it you're upset about it being just a fling." Jessica said.
"You really care about him don't you?" Alex said.
"Yeah I do really care about him. He's like...I don't know...like...he's always there for me and I can talk to him about anything. He's just-- he's not your typical guy from Laguna Beach. You know what I mean?" Kristin said.
"I do. I mean, guys from Laguna Beach usually like girls like us because we're beautiful, rich and all that....they don't really care about us. But Matt- he cares about you. He really cares about you." Jessica said. "Right?"
"Yeah." Kristin agreed. Changing the subject, she asked, "What do you guys think of Greg?"
"He's hott." Jessica admitted.
Alex nodded her head in agreement.
"Do you like him or something Kristin?" Jessica asked.
"I don't know." Kristin shrugged her shoulders. "I hang out with Matt constantly and I just- I don't know. I barely see Greg and I think...like...I'm starting to like Matt...like really like him."
"So tell him." Jessica and Alex told her.
"I'm gonna call him right now." Kristin said. She pulled out her cell phone and disappeared into the house. She sat down on the couch and flipped through Vogue magazine. Then she dialed his number. Within seconds somebody picked up.
"Hello." The voice on the other end said.
"Hi Matt." Kristin said.
"Kristin?" He asked.
Yeah. It's me."
"What's up?"
"I need to talk to you."
"OK. About what?"
"Are you in a room alone?"
Matt left the living room then disappeared upstairs to his bedroom. "Now I am. So what's up?"
"Would you like wanna hang out with me tonight?" She asked hopefully.
"Yeah. Definitely." He smiled.
"Do you wanna go out to eat then the movies or do you wanna come over my house?" She inquired.
"I'll come over your house." He finally said after he debated between the two choices. "So um do you like Greg still?"
Silence answered him.
Then she said, "I don't know. Why?"
"Well I kinda like told him that you did." Matt confessed.
"Why'd you do that?" Kristin asked suspiciously. She sounded extremely pissed off.
"Because you like him, don't you?" Matt asked.
"I don't know how I feel about anything right now Matt." Kristin told him. I like you Matt, she thought to herself. You're just too stupid to realize that.
"But the other day you said that you liked him." Matt pointed out.
"I like him as a friend. I mean, I barely spend anytime with him. I don't know him. It's more likely that I'll like you because I spend so much time with you and everything." She spilled. "And you really know me and I know you. Matt, you know me better than any other guy I've dated."
"What are you saying Kristin?"
"I'm saying that- I don't know. We'll talk later, if you still wanna come over that is."
"I'll be over at 8."
"Promise?"
"I promise beautiful."
"Beautiful?" She repeated.
"Yeah. You're beautiful."
She giggled. "Well thank you."
"Anytime."
"So umm...."
"Kristin do you like me?"
Kristin froze on the spot. "Umm...as in a friend...or as in a boyfriend?"
"Boyfriend."
"Honestly?"
"Yeah honestly."
"You'll find out later. I'm not gonna tell you on the phone because there might be people listening in."
"Promise me you'll tell me later?"
"Promise."
They talked for a few more minutes then Matt went back downstairs after he had thought about what just happened. He didn't know how to tell Greg the bad news. He finally got it out of her and he found out that Kristin liked him, not Greg. She only liked him as a friend. Greg was gonna be so upset when he found out. Of course Matt decided to play it cool for a little while, but he didn't know how long that would last. He felt very guilty.
"Who was on the phone?" Chris and Frankie asked in unison.
Matt hesitated. "It was Kristin."
"Really? What'd she want?"
"She just wanted to talk to me." Matt said simply, not wanting to tell them that she invited him over her house and that he had agreed and that she liked him and not Greg.
"About what?" Greg asked.
"Nothing in particular. She just missed me and wanted to talk to me." Matt said, wondering when the interrogation was going to end.
"But you guys see each other all the time." Greg pointed out.
"So she can still miss me." Matt told him.
"I know." Was all Greg said.
"So what'd you guys talk about?" Chris inquired.
"Didn't I already answer that question?"
"Matt, are you OK? You're acting really weird." Frankie said.
Matt smiled when he realized that Kristin Cavalleri didn't like Greg. She liked him. "I'm fine. Never better."
"Does Kristin have a boyfriend?" Greg asked.
No, but she's going to go out with me, once I ask her out, seeing how we both like each other, Matt thought to himself. "No she doesn't have a boyfriend."
"Do you guys think I should ask her out?"
"Did she talk to you about Greg?" Chris asked.
QUIT INTERROGATING ME!!!, Matt thought to himself. "Am I on trial or something?"
"No. We're just making conversation." Chris said simply.
Suddenly Greg got a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. He frowned. "She doesn't like me, does she?"
"I-" Matt's voice trailed off.
"You can be honest with me. I mean, I shouldn't have expected a girl like Kristin to like a guy like me." Greg said.
"She- She likes you as a friend." Matt finally said.
"Oh. Well I guess that's better than nothing. So um, does she like anybody though? Like...you know..anyone that she wants to go out with." Greg said.
"Yeah." Matt admitted.
"Who?" The guys asked.
"Me." Matt said hesitantly.
Greg stared at him in disbelief. "Are you kidding me?"
"No. She told me that she liked me." Matt replied. "I'm sorry Greg, but----"
"I can't believe you." Greg said sounding extremely pissed off.
"I had nothing to do with it. I mean, it's not like I made a move on her or whatever. And I can't control who she likes and her feelings. It's just we're really good friends and I just- I don't know. I didn't even know that she liked me. I thought she liked you because she said that she did, but I misunderstood her and thought that she liked you more than just a friend. Greg, I'm really sorry, but the truth is, I had nothing to do with her decision or whatever."
"I knew it was too good to be true anyway."
"But she did tell me something interesting, if you care." Matt said.
"What'd she tell you that was so interesting?" Greg asked him.
"She told me that her friend Alex likes you...and that she wants to go out with you." Matt said.
"Alex H?" Greg inquired.
"Yeah."
"Alex H likes me?"
"Yeah she does."
"Well that's cool. I mean, she is gorgeous....and sweet...and funny...and fun to be around, but I don't hang out with that clique so I don't know what she's like." Greg said.
"We're all going to the beach tomorrow. Maybe you and Alex could hook up." Matt suggested.
"Hook up?" Greg repeated. "Don't you use that term for when you kiss or do something that's more than kissing?"
"Yeah." Matt said. "Hook up...kiss or umm...hook up hook up." He laughed.
"Do you like Kristin, Matt?" Jesse asked.
"Y- Yeah. I love her. I've always loved that girl." He smiled.
"I don't blame you. She is pretty amazing." Greg agreed.
"Are we cool now?" Matt asked Greg.
"Yeah we're cool." Greg assured him. "Just don't go after Alex."
"Nah. I won't. She's all yours."
Suddenly the sound of ring tones from the guys' cell phone started filling the room. They all whipped out their cell phones and answered them.

* With Matt *

"Hello." He said.
"Hi Matt." A sweet, angelic voice said.
"Hi Kristin." He smiled.
"What's up baby?" She asked flirtatiously. She grinned even though he couldn't see.
"Oh you know.." Matt laughed.
Kristin giggled. "So um are we still on for 8 o' clock?
"You bet sexy."
"Sweet."
"So what are we gonna do?
"Well I was thinking I could make dinner...set up some candles and have some romantic music playing and we could have a little fun." She joked.
"Don't tease." Matt told her.
"Who said I was teasing?"
"Nobody."
"OK then."

* With Greg *

"Hello."
"Hi Greg. It's Alex." The girl's voice said.
"Hey Alex. What's up?"
"Nothing really. I was just wondering if you would like to come over later to hang out." Alex said.
"What time?"
"Any time. You could come over now if you wanted to. I'm not really doing anything...just hanging out. I just got back from Muse a couple minutes ago." Alex said simply.
"Do you want me to come over now or would you rather have me come over a little later?" Greg inquired.
"It doesn't matter to me. Whatever you want to do."
"I guess I could come over now."
"OK."
"See you in a few minutes Alex."
"OK. See you later."
"Bye."
"Bye."
"Are you gonna hang up?"
"No." She asked, "Are you?"
"No."
They both laughed.

* With Frankie *

"Hello."
"Hey Frankie. It's Jessica."
"Jessica Smith?"
"Yep. That'd be me." She giggled.
"What's up cutie?"
"Nothing really. I'm home by myself."
"Where are your parents?"
"They're in Cabo on vacation."
"And they didn't take you with them?"
"No because I go to Cabo all the time. I love it there. It's awesome."
"I've never been to Cabo."
"You've never been to Cabo?"
"No I haven't."
"Well the next time we go you're coming with us. You...Chris...Jesse...Matt and Frankie. Wait...I think Matt's been. Oh yeah. He went a couple years ago."
"Yeah he did. He hooked up with Kristin didn't he?"
"Yeah, but don't tell anybody."
"Nah. I won't."
"So umm do you wanna come over and keep me company?"
"I'd love to."
"Will you come over now?"
"You want me to come over now?"
"Yeah."
"I'll be over soon."
"OK."

* With Chris *

"Hi Chris. It's LC."
"Hey LC. What's going on beautiful?"
