Chapter Ten- Holding Onto You
As they walked into the hotel lobby, Matt said, "I really wish I could spend more time with you."
Glancing over at him she said, "We can spend more time together."
"Can I stay with you?"
"When?"
"Tonight." He stopped walking and turned towards her.
"Matt, I'dl love it if you could stay with me, but...my parents won't want me to."
"Hi." a voice said. It belonged to Lori's dad.
"Hi sir." Matt greeted him.
"Did you have fun with Matt, Lorr?" her dad asked.
"Yeah. He's a great guy." Lori replied.
"Can she come over?" Matt asked.
Lori looked over at him then looked at her dad.
"I don't know." Donnie told them.
"Don't know what?" a woman's voice asked walking over to them.
"Matt wants to know if she can come over." Donnie said looking at his wife.
"Who? Lori?" Jackie, Donnie's wife, asked.
"Yeah." Donnie replied.
"When does he want her to come over?" Jackie asked. She looked at Donnie then at Matt and kept on exchanging looks with the two of them, every once in a while taking a glimpse at Lori.
"I don't know. Matt, when do you want her to come over?" Donnie looked at Jackie then at Matt.
"Tonight." Matt said simply.
"You want her to spend the night at your house?"
Lori looked at Matt then at her parents and back over at Matt, who was looking at her parents.
"Yes, I do, if it's OK with you guys though. I could always meet up with her tomorrow." Matt suggested.
"IF she spends the night at YOUR house, where would she be sleeping?" Jackie asked eyeing him.
Lori rolled her eyes because she knew exactly what her parents were thinking. Well, at least her mom anyway.
"My brother David is spending the night at a friends' house so she could stay in his room."
"They're going to be in separate rooms. What do you think?" Jackie whispered to Donnie. Donnie broke eye contact with Matt then looked at his wife.
"If they stay in separate rooms I'll be fine with it. If they're not going to be staying in separate rooms that's NOT OK with me."
"Nothing's gonna happen. Please." Lori pleaded.
"If we're in the same room we'll only be talking." Matt assured her parents.
"So, there'll be no kissing, no making out and NO....sex?" Jackie double-checked.
Lori looked over at Matt who looked over at her then he looked back at her parents. He hesitated for a moment then remembered what she had said about that. "Right."
"Go ahead. Get out of here."
"I can go?" Lori asked excitedly.
"Yes you can go, but Matt I want her in one piece. If anything happens to our daughter, I'll be holding you personally responsible." Jackie told them.
"Nothing will happen to your daughter, I promise. I'll take good care of her."
"I'll be holding you to that." Jackie said before Lori pulled Matt away from her two overprotective parents.
"He seems to really like her." Jackie said as she watched the two teens walk away and head to the elevator.
"Yeah. He does seem to really like her." Donnie agreed.
"We should go check on Nick. He's still in the pool." Jackie told him.
"I'm so glad you get to come over." Matt said as they got into the elevator.
As the elevator doors shut, he turned his body towards her and took her hands in his. She looked at him and said, "Yeah. Me too."
"Are you feeling any better?"
"Egh. My stomach still hurts."
"I'll try to make soup for you when we get to my house, OK?"
She smiled at him and said, "OK."
"What kind of soup do you like?"
"Hmm....chicken noodle."
"I think I can manage making chicken noodle soup. I hope I can anyway."
"I can try to help you, if you want."
"You can take it easy, beautiful."
She stroked the side of his face and said, "You're too sweet sometimes."
"So are you."
The elevator stopped and they started leaving at the same time, but Matt said, "Ladies first," and let her get out of the elevator before he did. When he put his hands on her hips she jumped, which made him laugh.
"Don't scare me!" she told him.
"I..I'm sorry." he tried to control his laughter, but he smiled and laughed. "I never meant to scare you."
"Quit laughing at me." She pouted which made him laugh harder.
"You are too adorable babe." He smiled at her and she said, "Don't suck up to me."
"Uh oh. She's pissed. What am I going to do?"
She laughed and said, "You are the biggest loser ever!"
"Yeah but you love me anyway."
"Whatever you say sunshine."
"Go ahead and deny it all you want."
"I'm not denying anything. I just don't want you thinking that I love you when I don't."
"Then why would your brother say that you love me? Was he just saying that to try and embarrass you?"
"My brother's a loser. Don't listen to him."
"You are such a pain."
"And you're an asshole. I guess we're even."
"HEY! THAT WASN'T NICE!"
"I was just kidding. I think you're an amazing, hot, sexy, sweet, fun-loving guy who can be a total ass sometimes. I think you're a gentleman too." She grinned and laughed.
"Keep it up and see if you get your soup." He smirked.
"I feel better. Laughing really helps ease the pain and when I'm with you...I feel like I'm with Adam Sandler, except you're hotter." She grinned.
"You think I'm hotter than Adam Sandler?" He laughed.
"I just wanted to boost your ego. Don't take it to heart."
"You are such a punk."
"Yeah, I know. We got something else in common, too."
"Like what?"
"We're both into each other."
"How do you know I'm into you?"
"'cuz you're looking at me like you love me and because you're holding me like I could get away any moment."
"Do you believe in love at first sight?"
