CHAPTER 21: Dude, Dude, Dude, Dude
"You're still coming wit me to New York right?" he asked about 5 minutes later.
"Yeah. Of course." she assured him. "Did you think I hated you and that I didn't want to go with you?"
"No. I just...I dunno."
She looked away from him and picked up the stereo button pusher and turned on the radio. She turned down the volume to about "3" and flipped through the stations, trying to find a song that she liked. Then she felt Matt's arms around her. She smiled as her tummy filled with butterflies. Lori laughed when she heard Ryan Cabrera's "On The Way Down" come on 107.1 (WERZ).
Once again she 'lip-synched' to the song and she looked back at Matt, who was singing the song. She turned back around and laughed at him. "So cute." she whispered to herself.
"You suck." he told her.
Lori burst out laughing when a sick-perverted thought filled her mind. She looked back at Matt and started laughing harder. He eyed her and said, "You're sick."
"Hey, you're the one who brought it up Matty boy." she smirked at him.
"I didn't expect you think that I meant THAT." he said putting stress on that.
"Neither did I, but hey, I'm 17 years old......it was bound to happen." she said giggling.
"Rrrrrrright." he said. He laughed at her.
"Don't be an ass!" she hit him playfully in the arm and he laughed even harder.
"You really think that hurt me?" he asked.
"Well, I don't want to hurt you severely because you're so cute and sweet and everything."
"Uh-huh."
"Are you guys like making out or is it safe for me to come in?" a voice from the doorway asked.
"No. We're not making out. We ...have never made out." a sweet, angelic voice told him. It was Lori. "It'll be a while. I'm not rushing into anything." she added to herself.
"You can come in dude." Matt told him.
"OK." Greg walked into the room and saw them sitting next to each other on the bed with their legs dangling off of the edge. Matt had his arm around her. Then he felt people staring at him. He looked around the room and he was shocked when he saw all the posters of Dream Street. Looking at her, he said, "You're definitely a devoted fan. Or you were."
"I haven't lost complete interest yet." She laughed.
"It's like looking in a mirror." Greg said not prepared for Lori to start laughing her ass off at the comment he had just made.
"Obviously Greg." she said stifling her laughter.
"Tell your girlfriend to stop being mean." Greg said looking at Matt as he sat down on the sleeping bag.
"I'm not his girlfriend." she said.
"She's just being her crazy, whacky self Greg." Matt told him. He shrugged. "If that's part of who she is, I'm not gonna ask her to be somebody else."
"Thank you. At least SOMEBODY appreciates my crazy, whacky self." Lori said.
"You're welcome." Matt smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.
"But I don't need you sucking up to me either." she said.
"Oooh." Greg laughed.
"I don't think I'll ever be able to understand you." he said.
"I told you that you would NEVER find another girl LIKE ME." she reminded him.
"Nope. He definitely won't." Greg agreed. He tried to control his laughter, but he couldn't so he started laughing harder than before.
"Dude, you're a loser." Lori told him.
"Dude, no I'm not." Greg smiled and laughed.
"Dude, shut up." Matt joined in.
"Dude, you two need hobbies." Lori said.
