From Vicki by way of Sally: Sally went above and beyond to get me a copy of my grandparents', Adolphe and Emma Lague's, 25th wedding anniversary photo, taken in 1931. They and most of my aunts and uncles have passed on now. However, Eugene and Simone, both in their 90s are still holding on while Claire and Robert, in their seventies, are as active as can be. As Sally put it, "You will agree with me....they are a handsome crew...Enjoy!!!

New Cousins!

From Alberta and Shaynee: There is a new cousin that would like to get in the mailing list. Her name is Margaret Marie Lague-Hobler. She lives in St. Marys Ohio. Her e-mail address is: [email protected]. Margaret Marie Lague married Richard Winston Hobler. Margaret's parents: Harry Charles Joseph Lague married Emily Lafort. Harry parents: Louis L. Lague married Margaret Caisse. Louis parents: Jean-Baptiste Lague married Zoe Suprenant.

From Andree: Found a new cousin, she contacted me because of an entry I had left on the Lahue name on some web site. Turns out she links up to my Lague guys in upper state NY and will be helping me to find more data in that area. I'm thrilled! She would like to be part of the family circle and be included in our communications, she has already visited Vicki's web page!! Her name is Tammie Lahue True and address is [email protected].

Lague.net Portal

On August 30th, Ken Lague announced the Lague.net portal. He wrote: "Many moons ago my savvy sister-in-law Charlene was able to buy the domain, www.lague.net A very desirable URL indeed! Since then, the two of us have been using lague.net as a neat way to access our own family web pages and enjoy lague.net email addresses.

"Well, as it turns out for some time now we have been talking about the idea of turning lague.net into a family portal for all Lagues to enjoy. We see the potential for a lot here, news, chat, etc., but thought we could start small . . . say by putting up a list of hyperlinks on the home page that point to each of the Lague personal pages.

"A neat second feature is using the lague.net domain for email. The server can accept virtual email addresses (up to 200 of them) meaning that each of you could have your own lague.net email address that automatically redirects messages to your inbox . . . this is very cool & I'm sure you will want to show off your new lague.net email address to all your friends. ;-)"

This wonderful idea is now a reality! The portal is working and so is the email redirect. Ken's last email, Sept. 5, says, "The site itself looks pretty threadbare right now... I put a green banner at the top to give it a bit of identity. If you have suggestions for content on the homepage, things that I can do to spice it up and make it friendly, I'd really like to hear them."

The portal provides email and web site links for individual members, a link to The Lague Gazette, and a quick sign up link for Lagues who would like to join.

You may have noticed that the home page for The Lague Gazette now provides a link back Lague.net. Be sure to visit sometime soon.

Hobbies: Jim Lague

Before retiring, Jim Lague's hobbies were photography, backpacking - hiked the John Muir Trail. Since retiring in 1971, he became more interested in his family tree and now is historian and genealogist for the Yuba Feather Historical Association, for the area and people of the foothills around Forbestown in Butte and Yuba Counties in California.

He contacted relatives of early pioneer families for photographs and stories, and now has over 300 family group sheets in his computer.

He writes stories and family histories for the Yuba Feather Historical Association (the "Gold Mountain Record", a monthly newsletter), the Butte County Historical Society and the Paradise Genealogical Society.

He also works as a volunteer for the Butte County Library in Oroville, California, mainly on genealogy requests for Butte County.

In 1986 he published a book on the Forbes of Forbestown, California. In 1993 he published two books about his mother's side of the family, the Clarke's and the Zink's.

He made a loose-leaf story on grandfather, Dominique Lague and on Major William Plaskett, whose son Peter married Julia Lague: Dominique's daughter.

On the first Saturday of August, Forbestown has a Forbestown Daze at the Museum and many relatives of the early families show up. This year two Forbes relatives came: Joe Dittmann and daughters and Shirley Forbes Moore and children and grandchildren. Joe Dittmann's grandfather was Harris Ellwsorth who served in the House of Congress from Oregon, 1943-56. Shirley Forbes Moore was President Ronald Reagan's Traveling Secretary on Air Force One until 1983.

Note from Alberta: Jim has been very active for many years in the Forbestown Museum.
