I do not have much information on Peter Zepher Chevalier who married my great grandmother Melanese LaGue. I was hoping that some of our Canadian relatives who live in the Sutton area might come up with some answers for me.
Peter's father was Edward Chevalier - wife unknown, but I do have a picture of Edward and his wife. They were in the area of Sutton, or at that time it may have been called Sutton Flat, Canada.
From what I can understand Edward & Peter owned a foundry, it was either Brass or Iron. The remains of the foundry are still there from some information I have received about five years ago.
If there is a grave stone in the area with the name of Peter Zepher Chevalier, I would love to have the date of birth and the date of death. What I do have is the year of death, as 1875. Again my understanding was that Peter died at an early age from an epidemic.
Thanks for any help you may give.

In my spare time (LOL) I got our Stevens Family webpage up and running.....we are going to link it to our adoption agency's page, so that prospective birthmoms could see it......please check it out, and feel free to pass it along to

From Al and Barb:. ". . . the Leon Lague home across the road from the school [see the June issue] . . . . we have been told that the Lague house has been moved to Highgate, Vermont by an Aiken family member. One of Leon sons, Narcisse, married a Mabel Aiken of Mansonlville which is approximately 10 miles from Rieter Brook."

From Alberta: This is a picture of Horace Andrew Hawkins the second husband of Melanese (LaGue) Chevalier Hawkins. From Jim Lague's notes: Horace Andrew Hawkins was born July 29, 1859 in Hancock, New York. Died December 22, 1922 in Richmond, California. The wedding date of Horace Andrew Hawkins and Melanese has not been found. On February 9, 1891 a son Horace Leon was born at Sisson, California. In 1923 the name of Sisson was changed to Mt. Shasta City, California. Melanese and Horace Andrew are shown in the 1900 U.S. Census of Forbestown, California as being married 13 years, so they must have gotten married around 1887-8.
