The Rhinelander was first bred in Germany in the early 1900s, and accepted in 1905. In 1923 Rhinelanders were first imported to the USA. During WWII, the Rhinelander's popularity and population plummetted. Luckily, they regained enough of what they lost to be recognized b ythe ARBA in the '70s.
Rhinelanders have an arched body type, and their bodies are also more cylindrical. However, there is no distinct arch type for the Rhinelander.
