Dear Mr. Woody Allen

I imagine that it is very very very very difficult that you ever know about this website, let alone about this first comment, but
nevertheless to dream is free so I continue writing.
I am a Barcelona citizen that loves New York and loves your films - specially the one of the
biscuits ... - so that I am incredibly happy not
just that you shoot a film in Barcelona but what it is more fascinating to me that you stay
in Barcelona for some time.
When I return from my only trip to New York I was during some months very sad to be in Barcelona. I missed and missed New York. And that made me search for things in Barcelona that
make me happy. So I rediscover again the old gothic streets of Barcelona and I wonder if you will find them so fascinating as me. There is a kind of mistery in old Barcelona especially
AFTER MIDNIGHT (this is my hint ...)
Well, I won't be long. I just wanted to say that while you are in Barcelona you will not only have opened all public buildings for you
but in general the whole Barcelona. You just ask

Desde hace años vivo cerca de la Estació de França. Casi siempre voy caminando a los sitios y normalmente eso significa ir al centro de Barcelona. Es por eso que durante diez años paso a diario por las calles que rodean a la catedral de Barcelona. Sólo paso dos veces. Una vez por la mañana para ir hacia el eixample barcelonés
y otra vez por la noche para ir a dormir a casa. Una vez estoy en la calle Argenteria con Via Laietana sería más sencillo continuar por Laietana hacia arriba pero como a´quel que le gusta lo dulce yo tiro para el monte Táber - la pequeña colinita donde esta la catedral - Empiezo subiendo la cuesta por la calle de la cereria antigua y pronto me planto por la Plaça del Rei. Pero el momento mágico es cuando llego a la parte trasera de la catedral! Es uno de los lugares más bonitos que he visto nunca y siempre me trae recuerdos de Venecia. De hecho hay una chimenea muy veneciana.
Además de la belleza del lugar una de los grandes alicientes del lugar son los cantantes de la esquina de carrer de la pietat con el carrer del bisbe. Si alguien alguna vez se ha sentido emocionado o emocionada per el Ave Maria que canta la soprano Pilar Rodríguez siempre puede dejar sus impresiones en pilar.tk , donde también
hay un video magnífico, creo que hecho por un venezolano, donde
se une la belleza del lugar, la voz y el arte de Pilar.
También podría hablar de la plaza Felip Neri y el magnífico hotel Neri y de la calle Santa Eulàlia y de las enormes columnas romanas escondidas en el Centre Excursionista de Catalunya pero prefiero centrarme en las calles de la catedral.
DE hecho cuando voy para el centro suelo ir por la calle del Museu Marès.
Y cuando vuelvo por la noche hacia casa hago algo muy raro!
Dependiendo de la hora voy por un sitio u otro.
Mi lugar preferido para pasar es por el carrer del bisbe pero esto sólo lo hago si es muy muy tarde y las calles estan muy solitarias.
Por ejemplo a las nueve de la noche nunca se me ocurriría volver por el carrer del bisbe! La razón es que para mi pasar por estas calles es algo que me produce muy buenas vibraciones y me da mucha paz y alegría. Quizá suene egoista pero necesito que estas
calles esten vacias para poderme deleitar. Es como si entrara en un lugar sagrado que merece respeto y no puedo pasear por estas calles con gente hablando en voz alta y ajena a la belleza que les rodea.
O sea que de vuelta a casa muy pocas veces paso por el carrer del bisbe. Sólo cuando es tardísimo.

Una vez me acuerdo que al ir por el carrer del bisbe me di cuenta que el carrer de la pietat estaba a oscuras porque fallaba la luz eléctrica. No dudé un momento en adentrarme en la oscuridad
medieval de la calle y me acuerdo que se veía un cielo estrellado -cosa difícil de percibir en una ciudad -
Me pregunto si en la nueva película de Woody Allen de este verano veremos algo de esto ...

Hi, this is a message for people living in Barcelona and abroad. I will try to improve my English writing a lot in English about the shooting of the new film by Woody Allen in Barcelona.
Since the start of the film will take place in mid June I just wonder what could be do in www.woodyallen.tk meanwhile.
I also have realised that being Woody Allen so famous there will be so much talk about Woody Allen in all the places that it is difficult to imagine that somebody may get interested on this site.
We have the advantage that we begin quite soon but we have the disadvantage that we are unknown.
At first I imagine that in woodyallen.tk there will be links to youtube videos related to Woody Allen and made by people from Barcelona for the whole planet. But now I realise that there will be a lot of media news each day so that maybe we will have enough footage.
So what I am figuring out is just to create a site that gives something extra to the visitor.
So maybe here we could talk about the following things:
A - GUESS A TITLE
B - GUESS THE PLACES OF SHOOTING
C - GUESS SCRIPT

OR WHY NOT:

D - SUGGEST A TITLE

Another idea I have in mind in this world of too much information is to create something that is precious and related to the shooting

Something that we will want to visit in some year's time. Something short but lovely too.

A lot could be done and www.woodyallen.tk could have a much better design but in order to do that is necessary to have some audience.

Today I have read that Javier Bardem will be part too of your new film in Barcelona.

While reading the comment about this news all that I read are insults against Catalan people.
For example I read comments that they are very happy that Penélope and Bardem will play in your film but they dislike it to be filmed in
Catalonia.
I will try to explain to you my point of view.
There are some people in Spain that they are very used that Madrid should dictate the future
of Barcelona.
So for example in Madrid they decided that the
the train of great velocity should arrive to
Barcelona from Madrid 15 years later than to Seville.
The Estatut, a kind of Catalan constitution is decided in Madrid.

So the fact that you shoot in Barcelona without
having asked first Madrid for the consent is very bad seen by the ones who have a strong
France ideological heritage!

I even read that it would be a good idea that you have a Catalan actor or actress on the film.
Maybe la Sardà ...?

I do not know.
As you are very important director your
film is very important for Catalonia and Spain
because the image you give of Barcelona will
be the image that people will have of Barcelona
in some places of the planet.
For example if Catalan is heard in your film people will know that Catalan is spoken in Barcelona.

Also the places that will be seen in your film will be important to Barcelona city.

I have been thinking about places inj Barcelona where you may shoot and I will put here so that
when I see your film completed I can know how many places I guessed:

1.EL LICEU
I am almost sure that the Barcelona
Opera House will be on your film. As
Barcelona is a Wagnerian City maybe
we hear some Wagner. I wonder if some
action will take place in the Prosceni.
2. LA RAMBLA.
There is an illegal game in La Rambla that
will suit your film a lot. I even can imagine
yourself as the one wanting to cheat the
tourists! It is played with three recipients.
You have to dicover under which recipient
there is a dice or something ... The funny
thing is that most people playing the game
are not playing the game but acting! So that
some tourists believes they are playing! I
find it one of the most fascinating things
to shoot in Barcelona!
Besides you could shoot an scupture of Woody
Allen ( I am the one doing it!!!!!)
3 . STREETS OF BORN The gothic streets of Born
cannot be found in Manhattan and for me are
the best thing of Barcelona. You seem to be
in the Middle Ages. It is in the shooting of
these streets and showing to your audience
the atmosphere there that you will convince
me of your geniality! I think that these streets are the thing that can make understand
the people worldwide why you film in Barcelona.
4. GAUDI PLACES
This is a very difficult part. Gaudi buildings
are very famous and your shooting of them
has to be very spacial in order to convince me. Maybe you could film La Pedrera terrace in Black and white. Or people could run through the
stairs of Sagrada Familia pinnacles. I am afraid
that your shoot of Gaudí buildings may be too
touristic. I just would change all that for a
shooting in Carrer Ros de Olano. There is an old
small theatre by Berenguer, a disciple of Gaudí.
This theatre is not in the guides but it has a
very special shape. A jewel of intimacy.
5. AFTER MIDNIGHT. This is not only the title for the film I propose but also the time to shoot in Barcelona: 2 in the morning ... Penelope Cruz walks through carrer del bisbe.
There is a misterious singer playing a flute.
Then the music suddenly stops and a the singer tries to rob Penelope Cruz at carrer de la pietat ( by the way in carrer de la pietat there is a wonderful panoramic flat where you
could perfectly stay ... or why not in Pensió Domenech del Call, the Jewish quartier of Barcelona, next to the old Synagogue ...)

6. WHITE HOUSES OF PORT
I have not seen them in any guide. You just go to Torre Sant Sebastià. You continue furthermore
and you will see some very pretty white houses, very Mediterranean where nobody lives. They are perfect to recreate a village next to sea ...
7. COLLSEROLA.
In Collserolla, the mountain where you find Tibidabo I may mention Hotel Florida. There is also an abandoned hose somewhere with some stone lions. There is a magical place where on one side you see vinyards and forest like in the countryside and on the other side you see
Barcelona and the sea.
8. BAR MARSELLA.
No need to comment ...
9. OLD ENTRANCES
One of the things I love more of Barcelona are
the old entrances. Maybe your star needs at midnight to change her underwear and for that she needs to enter an entrance.
There are very pretty entrances like the one in Carrer Comerç 15.
10. SANT PAU DEL CAMP CLAUSTER.
This little romanic clauster is of course not
so known as Sagrada Familia but I prefer it
to one milion Sagrada Familias. Its simplicity
and antiquity make me cry.
11. TORRE DEL REI MARTÍ.
This is a clear example of a Gothic Skyscraper.
I think it is one of the most beautiful skycrapers I have ever seen. I have never been on it but I am sure they will open it for you.
Seen form the mediaval surroundings I always have the feeling that if I could be there I would see medieval Barcelona.
12. VIA LAIETANA.
I dislike this street very much because it is full of cars and without treets. But who knows
it crosses medieval Barcelona and maybe with an aerial shooting ...
13. METRO TUNNEL PASSEIG DE GRACIA.
If you need an unpleasant place and a very claustrophobic place this is the best place.
It is a very horrible not pretty small tunnel
coonecting different subway lines. You need maybe 3 minutes to go from one place to the other. It only has exits at the ends and it is
a very disgusting place. The worst of Barcelona.
14. PLAÇA REIAL.
Maybe the protagonist could sit in the middle
of the square where the fountain is and then something falls inside the water ...
15. EL PARAIGUA O PARAIGUES ...
It is a bar next to Plaça Sant Jaume.
In has a kind of celler and you see the brick walls and it plays classical music
16. POBLE ESPANYOL
I am sure the ones surrounding you will tell you about it.
17. MONTJUIC CEMENTERY AND CACTUS PARK AND CASTLE
Montjuic seems to mean Jewish Mountain. The cemetery is an enormous place with lovely views and very inspiring. The cactus are ideal for shouting. The castle entrance could be used maybe ...
18. PALAU NACIONAL OR MNAC
Here you need to make some changes. I will transform the entrance (the outdoor part) into
a big terrace bar with a view of the city. By the way one problem for these vies id that
sometimes pollution makes city not so pretty.
19. BELLESGUARD BY GAUDI.
Bellesgurad is Gaudí but not so known. As a hotel will do well ...
20. TORRE AGBAR.
Here I just mention it. I like it but I am not so sure that it suits your film. Nevertheless if
you are interested in it please ask that they do
some kind of lights show on purpose for you! You
can see in youtube.com the TV3 CAMPANADES! It was incredible. I made even a video of it.
21. HOSPITAL SANT PAU
This modernist hospital surrounded by gardens with pines is a perfect place for a morning
shooting. If you go there remember to go to
the Cafeteria! Never an entrance to a Cafeteria could be better ( before it had been a church ...) ( I forgot to tell before that
Pensió Doménec del Call has a church entry too!!!)
22. MONTJUIC LIGHTHOUSE
Very few people of Barcelona had ben there. I once climbed the mountain from the lighthouse
to the castle!! The only disadvantage is the know of the road below but the views are incredible.
23. BEACHES
I do not like beaches in Barcelona. Beaches of
El Prat are much better. Waters are polluted so they are almost empty! They are solitary and they are wild, even protected (there is even a lake)

It was shot in 1992 in Los Monegros, a moon-like place near Zaragoza. The director was Bigas Luna.

WOODY ALLEN WILL SHOOT IN ASTURIAS TOO

I just have read that Woody Allen will also shoot in Asturias.
It will happen in the second half of July. The city will be Avilés and maybe Oviedo too.
In 2003 Woody Allen received Premio Príncipe de las Artes. In this way Mr Allen will support the Centro Niemeyer, being himself an assessor of this center. Woody Allen could be in Asturias
between ten and fifteen days. His activities will spport new space Niemeyer, the only one in Spain by the architect from Rio de Janeiro.
So in woodyallen.tk or elju.eu we welcome any person from Asturias who will tell us about the shooting there!

Some days ago I saw Javier Bardem with Isabel Coixet in Berlin. Now I know Penélope Cruz is going to act for Isabel Coixet too. Isabel Coixet shoots films in English. She speaks Catalan. Why not let her some minutes act in your film? It is not necessary too much time. Just taking advantage of her look. Maybe selling something on a shop. I have met her sometimes and I am sure she could do it very well - if she agrees of course -

It would be great that Woody Allen brings together people from Madrid and Barcelona.

Today in La Vanguardia, one of the main newspapers printed in Barcelona, there was a whole page about Woody Allen. So now a lot of people are talking about the film. Here I read from people coming to Barcelona for the summer and friends of mine tell me not to leave the town for this summer!
I just wonder if tourists will come on purpose to Barcelona to see Woody Allen.
I am very worried about the image that Woody Allen will give of Barcelona and Gaudí.
Each day I walk through the old streets of Barcelona and I must stop a lot of times because someone is taking a picture. The Ramblas
has been for decades a place mostly for the tourists. So one has the feeling that the locals
of Barcelona are really the tourist and not the ones like me that live in this town. I am not complaining. Maybe it is not wonderful that the
center is so full of people that you almost cannot walk but it would be far worse the opposite. And as I like to visit others cities and lands and I like to feel welcomed I also like people from other places to come to Barcelona.

Although I like watching films in the original version (especially if I know the language ...) most cinemas of Barcelona show the films dubbed into Spanish and sometimes into Catalan. For example you could watch Scoop in Catalan. The local government pays for that. As most films are dubbed into Spanish I understand that the Catalan government tries to have translations into Catalan. Neverthelss, I think it would be much better if the money was spent in teaching English ... so that the Catalan people can move around the planet with easiness.

Fot twenty years Woody Allen has been dubbed into Spanish by an actor called Joan Pera. He also has dubbed into Catalan. Woody Allen likes
him for that job and now Woody Allen has given
to Joan Pera a paper for the new film in Barcelona.
As you can imagine that it is a nice thing to do
as Joan Pera is quite famous here (he played La Extraña Pareja, ...).
It seems that Joan Pere won't say a word!

So the reason why I am writing this and in English is to say that I think it would be funny that Joan Pere speaks in the film!
It could be one of the funniest parts of the films! Woody Allen could dub him into English!
I do not know but I think there is a great opportunity to play with languages. I find it would be quite hilarious to listen to the voice of Woody Allen by someone who is not Woody Allen but his dubber!

In Catalan TV we have a series called EL COR DE LA CIUTAT. It is funny because there is a phrase from Joan Pera that I always have on mind and now I realise that the reason is because of his superb intonation: " ... a nosaltres no ens ha de demostrar res ..."

LLOLL BELTRAN. This is the new actress that Woody Allen has also chosen for his new film in

... because WE HAVE WONDERFUL AND ORIGINAL RECENT PHOTOS OF HER!

HOW COME? Well, let me explain ... In Barcelona, like in Catalonia, we celebrate one day called Sant Jordi (Saint George) on April 23rd. The streets are full of people, books and roses. La Rambla is a crazy place.
This year, 2007, for the first time, in Plaça Sant Jaume, on the gothic quartier, somebody had the idea to prepare an event: It consisted in reading shorts parts of books by different people. As I was passing there I just saw José Montilla. Then Ms Carulla, And then I saw LLOLL BELTRAN. I felt in love with her at once! I do not remember the name of the piece of reading but I remember that LLOLL BERTRAN made it wonderful! And the good thing now is ...
that I took a lot of photos from her!
And the photos are very special because you see her face above a bouquet of red roses. Her dress
was also a red one so everything is red. I also loved her short head!
I can assure you that she is an extraordinary person.
I hope in the film you can see that! in the film she will play as friend of Joan in a cafeteria and Joan is Javier Bardem.

To end let me tell you that LLOLL BERTRAN is quite famous in Catalonia at least and that her image has been for me always that of someone playing always crazy parts.

I just have read that Lloll Bertran was playing a play with Joan Pera (the dubber of Woody Allen into Catalan and Spanish) in Teatre Condal
called Una Maleta, Dues maletes, ...
As you may know we will also see Joan Pere in the new film but he won´t speak a word ...

Jaume Montané will appear also in Woody Allen's film! He will be a friend of the main character played by Javier Bardem. You may know Jaume Montané from the film The perfum with shootings also in Barcelona.

It seems that the shooting will start at the end of July, start of August 2007.

Woody Allen llego ayer a BCN,se hospeda en el Hotel Arts y el cuartel general de la pelicula sera en la Torre Agbar.

Woody Allen is a three-time Oscar winner
US director Woody Allen has held a secret premiere of his new film Cassandra's Dream in Spain.
Allen was in the northern city of Aviles to introduce the film to 600 invited guests, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais.

The film, starring Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell, will be officially unveiled at the Venice Film Festival.

Allen said: "I hope you like the film, but if you don't, you can ask for your money back," reported the paper.

Charmed

The director moved on to the nearby city of Oviedo with a film crew to scout for locations for his new film starring Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.

Work on the picture is due to start later this year in Barcelona.

Allen first visited Oviedo back in 2002, when he was awarded Spain's prestigious Prince of Asturias arts prize.

He said he was charmed by the city's Romanesque and medieval architecture.

The city has since erected a bronze statue of the Oscar-winning director.

Woody Allen debutará en la dirección de ópera con la obra Gianni Schicchi, de Puccini, en la Ópera de Los Ángeles (EEUU), según ha confirmado el director general del teatro, el tenor madrileño Plácido Domingo.
Gianni Schicchi, la ópera que dirigirá Woody Allen, es la primera de las tres obras que componen Il Trittico, del compositor de ópera italiano Giacomo Puccini.

Il Trittico está previsto que se estrene el 6 de septiembre del 2008 en la sesión inaugural de la temporada 2008/2009 de la Ópera de Los Ángeles.

El precio de ida y vuelta en rodalies renfe es de 5 euros.
Es la estación después de Mataró y antes de Caldetes.
Después me parece que has de caminar unos tres kilómetros.
