Road Trip, Summer 2002
Here are some photos from my recent road trip, June-July, 2002.  I started out in Texas, where I visited my cousins and nephews and then did some work (the *original* purpose of my trip!). Then I flew to Tulsa and from there drove through Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and back to Oklahoma. I'll add more photos later, but here's a sampling of what I saw:

Will Rogers Birthplace - Claremore, OK.

No wonder he had such a great disposition -- this place was beautiful and serene!
World's Largest McDonald's - Vinita, OK

How many accidents has this little surprise caused on Interstate 44?  Of course I stopped in... you don't see the world's biggest McDonald's every day!
Squirrel Cage Jail - Council Bluffs, IA

Also known as the "lazy Susan jail," this is too weird to explain here.  Neat tour, though.  Here I am in the slammer with my new buddy.  I'll call him "Fred."
Upstream Brewing Company - Omaha, NE

One of the few nice dinners I treated myself to took place at this microbrewry. The third in the row of tasters is their Dundee Scotch Ale, a smooth and potent (16 proof, yes, 16!) beer. Sorry, Chris, no take-home packs available!
Somewhere, anywhere - Green Country, OK

Somewhere near Tulsa... they don't call this Oklahoma's "Green Country" for nothing... it's gorgeous!

Convention Center - Sioux Falls, SD

All dressed up and somewhere to go! My road trip wasn't all casual, as it included attending the US Jaycees national meeting - more photos from this coming soon!
Woolaroc Ranch, Museum and Wildlife Preserve - near Bartlesville, OK

Tatanka! Talk about a drive-thru!  Nice place where you can see the animals VERY up-close... My camera had no zoom -- this is truly how close you can get!
Philbrook Museum of Art - Tulsa, OK

VERY pretty place. And talk about deja vu!!  It reminded me of Viscaya in Miami!  Great art and nice grounds.
