Holland - Fall 2003
Here are some of the first photos of my visit to Frank in the Netherlands!  These photos were all taken in his hometown of Utrecht, about 30 kilometers south of Amsterdam.  Photos of Amsterdam, The Hague, and other places coming soon!
In Frank's home a few hours after my arrival -- I'm not much of a jet-lag victim, am I? A nice and sunny day!  The day of my arrival we biked over to Utrecht and stopped at a couple of bars (such as this) for a beer or two before returning to Frank's for a yummy homemade dinner!
Cool cat!  This bar kitty really took a liking to my coat and I almost couldn't leave since I didn't want to "disturb" it.  This scene is not uncommon.  I saw other "resident cats" at other bars!

My friend Frank! (with the bar kitty, of course).  Frank and I have known each other for over 10 years, since our days in Gainesville at UF.  He now looks like a younger, Dutch version of David Letterman!
My first few days here we had great, NOT-typical Dutch weather for fall... not too cold and rather bright and sunny!  We went for a hike at a park near Frank's house and saw pretty scenes such as this.
Sunshine Girl!  Here I am in the Dutch countryside enjoying the bright, sunny day! (this is in that same park by Frank's house)
Patty and Frank... Go Gators!  Really, I *should* send this photo to the UF alumni magazine to show the real bonds made in school.  Despite time, distance, and many changes in our lives, a large number of my very best friends are the people I met at UF! Another sunshine shot!  Good thing I enjoyed it while it lasted, because a few days later I was in Den Haag (The Hague) and walking along the beaches in Scheveningen, where it was cold, wet, and windy... in other words, typical Dutch falltime weather.  BRRRRRRR!!!!  ;->
