Tablero De Jesus

The is a gambling game. To make it non-gambling, or to set a limit on how long it can go on, play with a specified number of pieces instead of personal coins.

It is played on a 7 x 7 grid board placed between the players. The closest row to each player is considered his "home" row.

General Rules:

There should never be more than 1 coin in a column.

Setting up the Board:

Players decide who will go first. The first Player (#1) places 5 coins (one each space) in his home row in his right-hand 5 columns. Player #2 places 2 coins in the right hand 2 columns of his home row. The game should look like this:

Play:

There are several phases to a turn:

Phase A: Player decides if he wants to capture coins. If he does this, he collects all of the coins that are lined up in a horizontal row (there must be a minimum of 2). He can only collect one row and it can not be one of the home rows. His turn is now over. His opponent must begin with Phase C.

If he chooses not to capture coins at this time, he rolls the dice (Phase B).

Phase B: If he rolls a 7, 11, or 12, he looses his turn and must pass the dice to his opponent. He may not capture any coins at this time.

If, however, he rolls something else, he moves his pieces the number indicated by the dice. For example, he rolls a 2 and a 3. He may move one piece 5 spaces (taking both dice on one piece), or two pieces 2 and 3 spaces respectfully. He cannot split up a die like moving one coin 1 space and another 4. He can not "bounce off the walls" or change direction of his move. If he can not move all of the spaces indicated by the dice, he moves what he can, and his turn is over. If he moved all the spaces on the die, he begins again at Phase A deciding to capture or not.

Phase C: When a capture is made, the turn reverts to the other player. However, before he can proceed to Phase A, he must first refill in the board. This is done by placing fresh coins in the home row of the columns they were removed from. The board must always have 7 coins in play before anyone can roll the dice.

This keeps on until either one player is broke, or chooses to leave the game. The one with the most coins wins!
