Merry Dooking.   My name is Sulley.  I'm a ferret. 

I live with a Witch and have served as her familiar for several years now.  My magickal name is Artemis' Snuggle Bug. 

I know what you are thinking, usually familiars are cats.  But that's not true.  Ferrets make excellent familiars. 

And it's not as easy as it may sound.  Being a familiar is a very important job.  In fact, the familiar is the key to all successful rituals and spells. 

For this reason, I've decided to share my knowledge with other pets who have chosen this path.

1.  Tools of the Craft.  The most important thing a familiar must do is get to know the tools of the Craft.  You can do this by tasting them, biting them, and stashing them away in your hidey hole for your own personal consecration rituals.  Make sure to leave teeth marks in them to claim them as your own.

2.  Flying Lessons.  If your Lady takes out her besom and starts cleansing the ritual area, grab on and go for the ride.

3.  Circle Casting.  If she moves her athame deosil, make sure to keep the pace by chasing it.

4.  Raising Energy.  If your lady is chanting, you can help by dancing and dooking up a storm.  Be careful though, you don't really want a storm.  They are hard to control.

5.  Meditating.  If your lady appears to be sleeping in a sitting position, she may be possessed.  Go over and nip her on the arm.  If she starts yelling at you, you have successfully exorcised any evil spirits.

6.  Candle Magick.  If you see candles burning, make sure you put them out quickly by knocking over the wine-filled chalice.  Sheesh!  You would think humans would know not to play with fire. 

7.  Dream Pillows.  Sleep inside pillowcases.   Sweet dreams.

8.  Chakras.  Familarize yourself with these spots by licking or nipping.  Both work.

9.  Herbs.  Knock over potted plants or dig in the dirt to give them more room to grow.

10.  Book of Shadows.  Last but not least, when your lady sits down to write in this book, you should help.  Turn the pages for her by scratching at them or sticking your head under them.  When she's done, keep the pen safe with the other tools you have stashed away :)

So, that's it.  The ten most important things all familars should know. 

I must be doing a good job.  There's eight of us living here now. 

We have even formed our own little ferret coven.  Its called the Coven of Artemis' Snuggle Bug.

If you are a ferret interested in being initiated, study the above for a year and a day, and then bring cheerios and raisins as offerings. 

As the High Priest, when I invoke the Gods, I must eat these treats - a lot of them :)
