Thanksgiving Ritual
Ritual and Poem by Lady of the Shadows
While preparing your thanksgiving feast for your family, remember that it is Mother Earth who takes care of us. Without her love, none of the food we eat would exist. As a way of thanking her for a fruitful harvest, bake some cornbread or pumpkin bread. Use less sugar than you normally would and add birdseed and eggshells.
The bread can be prepared before Thanksgiving as the holidays get hectic for everyone.
Then, on Thanksgiving during the day, go outside and break it into pieces. Throw the pieces on the ground as an offering.
For each piece you break off, thank Mother Nature for one of the many blessings she brings to your life. Not only will you please her, but your feathered friends will be happy as well.
For those of us who don't celebrate Thanksgiving, this ritual can still be used to thank Mother Earth. For those of us that do, Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I Am Thankful
I am thankful for the cool wind blowing threw my hair
because it means that I am alive to feel it.
I am thankful for the yard of leaves I have to rake
because it means that I am healthy enough to do so.
I am thankful for the birds who don't fly South in the Winter
because it means that I can hear them sing.
I am thankful for my roses that bloom until the first snow
because it means that I have flowers to enjoy.
I am thankful for the apples that I picked at the orchard
because it means that I will have something sweet to enjoy.
I am thankful for all the food on this table
because it means the land takes care of me.
I am thankful for the family I have to share it with
because it means that I am not alone.
I am thankful for all the gifts the Goddess brings
because it means that I am truly blessed.
