Little Blessings

by Lady of the Shadows

The soft glow of the rising sun on a frosty, Winter morning,
Freshly fallen snow sparkling across the land in a blanket of white,
gentle snowflakes still swaying back and forth like glitter in a snowglobe,
ice-covered trees whistling the season's song everytime the wind blows,
Frequent visits from a family of deer eating frozen apples in the garden,
the excitement in a child's eyes when Santa remembers a favorite toy,
a warm fire burning on the hearth on a bitter, cold day,
stockings hanging on the mantle filled with candy canes and chocolate,
Icicles cascading along the rooftops of every home,
blinking lights illuminating the landscape in the distance,
the Moon briefly greeting the fading sun and reflecting off a frozen lake,
millions of stars returning to the sky and dancing for the world,
a soft, snuggle from a furry friend before you go to sleep -
Sometimes, the little blessings in our lives
bring us the greatest joy and comfort.
May we never forget them,
so they live on in our hearts forever.

I wrote this for Stuart because I consider him a little blessing in my life that I will never forget.

Stuart is playing at the Bridge with all my other furbabies until we meet again (December, 2000 - December 23, 2003).
