Nature's Answers to the Question,
"What is the Meaning of Life?"

by Lady of the Shadows

I asked the wind this question
and he whispered the answer in my ear as he gently swept the hair from my face,
so I can see clearly.

I asked the tree this question
and she stood there, strong and proud,
even as the Winter Wind blew hard through her bare branches.

I asked the Sun this question
and he rose in the sky with a smile that brightened the land all around
and warmed the chill from my nose and cheeks.

I aked the Eagle this question
and he told me to soar with my wings through the clouds
and chase my dreams in the sky overhead.

I asked the Robin this question
and she simply said I should sing,
even when I am sad.

I asked the Moon this question
and she showed me her many faces of change,
each one opening a door and offering a new opportunity.

I asked the Mountain this question
and she told me to climb and climb and climb,
even when my arms ached and my body was weary.

I asked the Lake this question
and she revealed the truth in her frozen water
and in my own reflection.

I asked the Lord and Lady this question
and they swept me into their arms
and told me to dance through life with joy
and with love.

Nature has great wisdom to share,
but we must listen with our hearts to hear her speak.

When we do...

The wind whispers, "Open your eyes."

The Tree says, "Be strong."

The Sun beams, "Smile and you will warm the hearts of others."

The Eagle believes, "Follow your dreams."

The Robin chirps, "Be happy."

The Moon admits, "Accept change."

The Mountain declares, "Never give up."

The Lake reveals, "Look within."

The Gods state, "Enjoy life and love each other."
