Consecration rituals are held to cleanse and bless an object for magickal workings. Although I am influenced by the Wiccan tradition, I am a Solitary Eclectic Witch. Normally, I do not name my gods. Feel free to dedicate your tools to whatever deities you call upon or change this ritual in any way to suit your path. In my opinion, rituals should be personal and natural, not rehearsed. That is why I keep it simple. Some people will tell you that there are different rituals for each tool, but I don't feel this is necessary. Whatever works for you is all that really matters.
With that said, to begin, you will need a pentagram, incense, a candle, water, salt, and the tool you are consecrating for this ritual.
Hold your tool in both hands close to your heart and claim it as your own. If you are dedicating this tool to a specific diety, now would be the time.
Place your tool inside the pentagram on your alter.
~~~~
Turn to the East. Light the incense and pass the tool over the smoke three times while saying:
Guardians of Air
Please cleanse this (thing) tonight.
Bless it with the power
of wisdom's sight.
~~~~
Turn to the South. Light a candle and pass the tool over its flame three times while saying:
Guardians of Fire
Please cleanse this (thing) tonight.
Bless it with the power
of your sacred light.
~~~~
Turn to the West. Sprinkle some water over your tool while saying:
Guardians of Water
please cleanse this (tool) tonight.
Charge it with the power
to heal what isn't right.
~~~~
Turn to the North. Sprinkle some salt over your tool while saying:
Guardians of Earth
please cleanse this (tool) tonight.
Charge it with the power
of stability and might.
~~~~
Close the ritual with something like this:
Thank you one and all
for your blessings on this night.
May this (object) always guide me,
with love and light.
So Mote it Be.
~~~~
Once a tool has been consecrated, it shouldn't be handled by anyone else other than yourself.
Many Blessings.
