v. 0.0.1.0
It was almost completely dark, but shuffling could be heard, and the shuffling past close by a spot of light. A form was hinted, just mentioned, by the shadows; a huge form, void of shape. It glinted and gleamed in the dim light like a null.
"Well, how are you today, Circuit? Enjoying that insignificant trifle of a task I assigned you?"
As those words shot out of the darkness, the form whirled, "Lights!" it cried out and light flooded the room. It illuminated walls plastered with buttons and display screens. And oh! the form that was revealed! A hideous form it was. It was a huge null, but as it turned and twisted, you could just make out some semblance of a sprites face. It stuck out its. . . face? But that is what we will call it. It stuck its face out and glared at the female across the room. "Why have you come back, Daemon? Not content with my misery?" it said.
"Come, come, Circuit. It's not as if I havent helped you at all. Why if I hadnt intervened, you might be a mindless, energy-absorbing null at this moment."
Circuit (who was the form by the way, if you didnt catch that) turned away, his mind wandering back to the time when he had been a real sprite, when he hadnt owed his life to the most deadly virus in hours. He remembered that day well. He had entered a game with explicit instructions from an anonymous beneficiary, to come out of the game with a copy of the code for the sprite he would find within. He was used to copying codes, having done it before for people who had a deletion wish for someone. He would merely create a clone of a particular sprite, leaving their code so someone could easily manipulate it on the other end. He had extreme trouble getting close enough to this sprite to get the data. He had just gotten a complete copy when the shots rang out.
"Circuit! Stop reminiscing and pay attention. Is the clone well planted in Mainframe?" Daemon roughly asked. Circuit slowly looked up at her as his mind cleared of the memories.
"Yes. The clone is in Mainframe. He should be picked up by your son any minute now."
"You impudent scum!" Daemon retorted, "My son is now in the web. You acted too late. I told you to enter the clone into the game, before they had a chance to defeat him. I knew he couldnt stand up against them for long. He was too impatient."
Circuit laughed a low evil laugh. "So I guess your plan is foiled after all?"
Daemon stared at him. "My plans have changed. He still has a delete command in him. Hell have that idiot boy gone in no time. And then Ill have him to myself. Hell be a powerful weapon." She turned and started walking away, "And as for you, Circuit. Ill hold you responsible if the original plan doesnt unfold." And with that, she suddenly opened a portal, stepped through it, and disappeared.
To be continued. . . . .
