v. 1.0.0
You could hear the huffing and puffing of machinery. It was dark, except for one spotlight shining on the floor. The noise got louder and louder still. Just when you thought that it would burst your ears, it stopped; as a tall rectangular box, that gleamed in the brightness, slid into the light. For a few moments it stood quietly. Then it started to hiss, and steam began to surge out of the widening crack in the sides and top. As the front of the box slid away into the darkness, a form was partially revealed, shrouded in the shadows depths. Two eyes opened slowly in that darkness, glowing red in two "(V)"s. An evil chuckle sounded from somewhere in the surrounding darkness, and the forms hand raised and shot out four foot long spikes.
"Bob, down!" Matrix shouted. Bob ducked just in time to miss a stray bullet from the crossfire.
"Whew! That was a close one. Thanks, Matrix," Bob replied quickly.
"No time to talk, Bob. Weve got to beat this user."
This was one of the hardest fights they had played up to this time. Oh, dont get me wrong, Bob and Matrix were good, but the fact that the user could sustain 12 shots before dying, and still had 5 lives on top of that, it just took a while to beat the game.
"OK," said Bob, "at the same time. On the count of three. One, two three!"
Matrix and Bob jumped up from behind the bunker at the same time and fired simultaneously. Boom, boom. The users shelter exploded in a fiery ball.
"Game Over."
Matrix and Bob were left standing in-between two buildings in a dead-end.
"That was good Matrix. Youve really gotten good with your aim."
"Dont mention it Bob. I work best under pressure."
"Matrix!" Bob exclaimed, "whats that on your icon?"
"I dunno," said Matrix, as he touched it. Beep. A white glittery stream of energy leaped from his icon and flew back into the shadows behind them, where it shone for a moment and then faded quickly.
"What was that?" asked Matrix.
"I havent the slightest idea," said Bob, "Ive seen alot of strange stuff, but Ive never seen that before"
"Should I worry about it?"
"I dont think so, but lets head back to the Principal Office and see if Phong knows what it was. Besides, Ive got do some work on Glitch. His tear repair tool is malfunctioning, and only seems to make a tear worse. And thats a bad situation to find yourself in. Why just the other day I was repairing a tear. . . ." But he didnt get to finish, for a large tear suddenly appeared right in front of them, blocking theyre path out of the dead end.
"This is bad. Very bad," exclaimed Bob.
Suddenly, out of the shadows behind them, leaped a form. It landed right between them and the tear, where it was silhouetted perfectly. Its left hand advertised four long spikes, while in his other it held a gun. Suddenly, it thrust its spikes deep into the tear. It gleamed bright as the energy from the tear coursed through it. But instead of deleting him, the tear suddenly flashed bright and disappeared. Bob and Matrix stood peering into the now extremely dark dead-end, trying to adjust theyre eyes to the darkness so they could see this form that had saved theyre lives. And out of the darkness gleamed to bright, red "(V)"s.
