History Lesson

In this fic, after the annihilation of the Twin City, and the death of her father, Dot took Enzo out into the Net where she became a renegade. Turbo was an old childhood friend of hers who doubled as her dancing partner. They became very good and traveled all over like this for cycles. Then Turbo went off to the Guardians Academy in the Super Computer and left Dot behind. Well, Dot being the free-spirited young woman she is, would have none of that. She took Enzo and went to the Super Computer with Turbo. After four cycles of being together (Dot is now sixteen and Turbo is seventeen) Turbo and Dot became serious. He was one of the top guardians in his sophomore class and Dot was a famous singer and club-hopper. After he graduated from the third year academy course, Turbo asked Dot to marry him. After much deliberation, Dot turned him down. (There is no reference to this in my seasons 1, 2, and3. So Bob doesnt know because she doesnt even mention the fact that she even knows Turbo, which will add to the heat in the next chapter) Dot didnt know why she turned him down, she said that he just didnt feel right. He didnt feel like the man she that was meant to marry. Dot believed in the right guy scenario. She believed that everyone had a match and they just had to find it. Well, she didnt think Turbo was her match. So, with Enzo now five years old, she trudged back to Mainframe where she turned in her twin swords for a personal organizer and became an entrepreneur, quietly dabbling in business here and there. She and Turbo still remained friends, however, and he still loved her. Dot didnt reciprocate his feelings and so she continued with her quiet charade as a Mainframe businesswoman. Then, along came a young blue guardian, who had taken a wrong turn on his way to Dracar, a neighboring system. A game cube crashed and the guardian was the only one qualified to go inside it. He liked the quaint little system, so he rented a condominium in Kits sector, by the Marina. Then two mean viruses came along and ruined the peace in Mainframe. Well, one thing lead to another, on double-cross to the next and soon the guardian was thrown out into the web. Somewhere along the way, Enzo picked up a game sprite that became his best friend. Mouse, a hacker who knew Bob in the Super Computer. Before being thrown into the web by the viruses, the guardian appointed Enzo as the systems protector if anything should happen to him. Well, the young guardian and his friend soon became good at the games and protecting the system. But one day, they entered a game they couldnt possibly win and were forced to either game hop out of it, or face certain nullification. Well, the girl, being a game sprite, was very clever and converted all of their icons to game sprite mode. So the boy, the girl, and their tough feral dog game hopped for an entire cycle. Towards the end of their journey, they acquired the friendship of a next generation surfr by the name RayTracer. He helps them make a portal to the net via the ship of one of Dots business comrades, and they travel the web, in search of the guardian. Hes the only one who has the entry access codes to Mainframe from the web so they need his help.

Well, during all of this, a deadly super virus named Daemon has broken into the guardian collective and has infected all the guardians. This is where Turbo re-enters the picture. He needs Bob, Mainframes guardian, to help him. Bob is the only un-infected guardian in the entire computer, except for Enzo (now called Matrix). Turbo doesnt know about Enzo because he never went to the guardian academy. Well, Bob is now back in mainframe. Turbo never got a hold of him; therefore he is totally unaware of the horror that awaits him in his home system. Oh yea, the war in mainframe never stopped, just eased up a little bit. Megabyte is deleted, as he is in the series, but Hexadecimal is still totally viral and bad. She continues trying to wreak havoc and chaos in Mainframe. However, she stays on Lost Angles because she has no need to go to the mainland since the Tor was blown to bits after Megabyte died.

I know, I know, this is way confusing. This history basically follows seasons one and two really close to the framework, and there are only a few twists on season three. I just needed to inform you of the history of this fic so you arent totally lost in the rest of the chapters. Kay?

Chapter One

(Romance poem written by Bob to Dot)
Note: We're assuming that Bob even writes romantic poems, which, by the way, he probably doesn't!

Did you ever love someone but know they didn't care?
Did you sit here all alone, and wonder what those couples share?
Did you ever say "I love you," but didn't let them know?
Did you ever stop and wonder why your feelings never show?
Did you ever gaze into their eyes, and say a little prayer?
Did you ever look into their heart, wishing you were there?
Don't ever fall in love, my friend;
The price you'll pay is high.
If I could choose between life and death;
I think I'd rather die.
For the love you'll feel is bittersweet, fleeting as the night
Duck for cover, within your mind, hide your eyes from the fight.
I know one thing, one simple thing, you'll hurt before it's through;
You see my friend, I should know, for I fell in love with you.

"Warning, Incoming Game. Warning, Incoming Game".

An ominous voice bellowed above the city, letting the inhabitants know of the fate that could await them. Just then, a muscular young man and a lithe blue defender headed towards the place where the gigantic purple column of energy would land. All the while, a beautiful, green angel sat in a booth in the diner across the way, longingly gazing at the two men headed toward the cube. Well, actually, the lithe green sprite was gazing at one of the men in particular. Namely, the handsome blue guardian, Bob. She sighed gently as the cube landed with a crash on the sector named "G-prime". Just then, the doors of the diner swung open as a confident creature strolled in at a leisurely pace and landed with a thud adjacent from the green sprite. Without hesitation, the green sprite hurriedly flipped open the cover of her personal organizer and began typing anonymous commands as a diversion for the new sprite. Sadly, the leather-clad purple sprite was not to be fooled by the mock concentration of the sprite across from her. So she began to proceed with the questioning of her newest victim.

"Hey sugah, whats processin?" asked the blazing purple sprite innocently.

"Nothing Mouse. Just sending these archive commands to the Principal Office. We need to update the database. Mainframe could definitely use an upgrade command."

"Sure ya are. And Im a yellow null!" said Mouse in a sarcastic tone.

"What do you mean?" said Dot sounding confused.

"You know exactly what I mean sugah. You were thinking about Bob." Mouse looked pointedly at Dot and smirked.

"No I wasnt." said Dot defensively. "I was organizing my files for an archive upgrade."

"Come on sugah, I know you better than that. Just admit it; youre gone on Bob. Completely and utterly love-struck. Oh, come know, dont blush. Its perfectly all right to have a crush on him. Believe me darlin, Ive seen a lotta guardians and a lotta sprites and Bob is by far the most handsome. Not only that, but his personality is to die for!" Mouse smiled gently at Dot, who just sat there rolling her eyes.

"I do NOT love Bob! Hell, I dont even LIKE Bob! I merely put up with him because he is the defender of this system and Enzos mentor/hero. Thats all. Hes a stubborn, unruly, insubordinate, spontaneous, egotistical, sexy, jerk! Oops! I meant..um..oh" Dot blushed a lovely shade of fuschia as she tried to think up a logical comeback.

"Ha! I knew it! You are a sprite after all! Well whoda thought the untouchable, conservative, always sensible Dot Matrix would get her feathers flustered and fall for the spontaneous young Guardian from the super computer, Well I do declare; this should go down in the archives! I can see it now: The first female Command.com has fallen in love with the systems first guardian! Oh, that would be rich!" Mouse burst out laughing and Dot just sat there, miserable and blushing. "Mouse! Will you keep it down! All right, I admit it; I think Bobs sexy, Okay? Are you happy?"

"Oh Im happy all right! I was hoping youd admit it. Just one more thing;"

"What?" Mouse leaned closely to Dot.

"Can I be the maid of honor at your wedding?"

"MOUSE!!!!!!!!"

Chapter Two

"Game Over." The ominous voice sounded once more, putting both the men and their admirers at ease. Nullification wasnt an option in Mainframe. Nullification meant lives, and the sacrifice of lives was not on the agenda of the vigilant Command.com. So the guardian and his companion couldnt lose. As the two gentlemen stepped off their zip boards, the muscular green one was greeted by a beautiful aquatic game sprite. They kissed passionately before the man picked up the woman and twirled her around in his arms, causing her to laugh merrily. To him, her laughter was like the ringing of bells. A sound that is always beautiful. As the two young lovers were off in a world of their own, the onlookers smiled warmly at their apparent affection towards the other. Slowly, a pair of brown eyes turned their attention toward the petite green sprite standing adjacent to him. She glanced up and her eyes caught his. Suddenly, everything else went still; the rest of the world faded away, and they were left alone. They gazed at each other for what seemed like an eternity. Neither one dared to breathe, for the slightest movement would break the glorious peace between them.

As hard as she may, Mouse could no longer hold it in. She let out a loud sneeze and both sprites heads shot up. Dot was the first to recover.

"Bless you! Geez Mouse, you should really see a repairman about those allergies."

"And you should go see a preacher." Mouse muttered under her breath.

"WHAT!" Both sprites shouted in unison. Mouse put on a sugar-sweet smile.

"Oh, nothin." She turned and walked away, brushing past Dot and grinned evilly. Dot blushed brightly. Bob was totally confused but decided it was probably something he didnt want to know about. AndrAIa and Enzo, now awakened from their reverie noticed the uncomfortable silence and tried to break it gently. AndrAIa was the first to attempt.

"Hey! Why dont we all head down to the diner and grab some energy shakes and chips. Ive got a craving for pickles anyway, so we might as well go there. Enzo, do I look fat to you?" AndrAIa laughed nervously as three pairs of eyes stared blankly at her. Slowly, it dawned on her what they were thinking. "Whoa! Wait a nano! Delete that thought! Im NOT pregnant!" "Ahh. Thats good!" They all let relaxed and shook their heads. Enzo was the next to try his luck at getting Dot and Bob occupied; yet isolated.

"I think we should all head down to level 31 for some shakes. Cecil gets enough business as it is, and were not in a hurry." Everyone pondered this for a minute, then gradually came to the decision that Dots diner would be a better choice, since Dot had to do filing for the archives.

Bob was in the highest of spirits on the way to the diner. But he stopped himself. He had a lot to consider about Dot. Dots the most beautiful, talented, independent, gentle creature in this system. What I would give to kiss those sweet lips of hers. To hold her in my arms, caress her soft hair; inhale her delicate, sweet scent. I need to tell her how I feel, but I cant. And even if I could bring myself to tell her, shed probably just laugh at me. A girl like her deserves better than me. But still, I could try. But I have tried! Shes totally oblivious to the fact that I even exist. She hasnt taken any hints or even ventured to ask. Shes much too quick to blame my affection on spontaneity rather than love. Oh God, I love her! And shell never know. Come on Bob, pull yourself together! Stop wasting your time on Dot, she doesnt care. You can do all the loving and affectionate things you want and she still will brush you off. Ive gotta stop this, I know Ill only get hurt, but I dont care! For some reason, non of that matters. I only want Dot. She consumes my every thought. Every night when I go to sleep, I dream of her. I see her face everywhere. I cant seem to think of anything else. What should I do?!

Meanwhile...

Bob is so handsome! Ugh, Mouse was right; it is impossible to deny or hide the way I feel. Too bad Bob doesnt feel the same way. It doesnt matter though. Even if he did feel the same way, which he doesnt, it wouldnt work out. Im the conservative, work-a-holic Command.com and hes the handsome, strong, spontaneous, easy-going guardian. I shouldnt waste my time. I might as well accept the fact that Im going to face deletion single and alone. But what I would give to have him hold me, and whisper in m ear. Id just die if kissed me. Heck, Id probably drool all over him. But it weird, he seems to keep more distance from me now that Im the Command.com. I guess its because I crowd him with all my planning and organization. I should stick with a guy I know will always love me. And that guy would be Turbo. Turbo said he loved me. He even proposed to me. And when I turned him down, he said his offer would still stand as long as I was alive and single. But I turned him down for a reason. It didnt feel right back then, and it wont feel right now. But I dont care. Im so tired of being alone. I wonder what Turbos doing right now.

Bob and Dot entered the diner and sat down at their unofficial corner booth; totally unaware of the battle that would soon ensue. Neither could have predicted the tragic and painful turns their lives were about to take...

Stay tuned for chapter three. Oh. By the way, this fic will get kind of weird considering the fact that it is an alternate reality. But dont worry, as gruesome as it will be, it all ends up sappy and romantic in the end. This might get to a strong PG13 rating or even a mild to medium R rating. So, I advise little kids to be careful. Theres not going to be anything obscene or bad and the language will be mild, but I love description and will get kinda graphic. My bad, I know. Just dont file a lawsuit. Please!
