The night started out good. I had 2 friends over to spend the night. We decided to pull out the couch and make our bed there. As we went to bed, I tbought of things of the future. After thinking of mostly good things, I slowly fell asleep tucked tight under the covers. Soon I begin to dream fairytale dreams.
All of a sudden I was awaken by being pulled out of bed. I was so scared, because I didn't know what was going on. Soon I realized that my mother had been drinking. She was arguing with my grandmother. I couldn't understand why my mother did this to me. I realized that even though I said things to her, she would not remember them once she woke up in a few hours. When she drank, she forgot things.
We, the girls, were crying from being scared of thte events going on. One of the neighbors came over to help with situation. She sent the little gril across the street to go home. The little girl entered the house and walked back to the bedroom to tell her mom what was going on.
The mom told her to curl up in the bed while she went across the road to get the little girl's belongings. The mom grabbed some clothes to put on and walked over to the house. When the mom entered the house, we were in the back bedroom with tears in our eyes being sheltered by the grandparent. We were really scared of what may happen next. We grabbed the other girl's belongings and gave them to the mom.
While hiding in the back, the decision was made for us to go back with the woman to her house. So we packed up our stuff and headed off. The mother of the little girl being pulled out of bed just kept apologizing to everyone. She felt that I didn't want her anymore. She was reassured that I really wanted her, but wanted her to be sober.
We made our beds on the floor and were left to wonder what was going to happen later on the night. I asked many times if my mom would be alright come morning after getting some sleep. Soon I drifted off again hoping for a better day. |
