My fascination with belly dance began when I was 13. I began dancing under Samira in 1999 and continue my studies through workshops and seminars.
My focus is on using the dance to evoke the inner Spirit or Goddess within, and researching the history of women's sacred dancing.
I dance to to express joy and praise The Great Goddess – the Source and Mother of all things, worshipped since the dawn of time. I also dance to connect with my roots – my French/Gypsy heritage, from a long line of foremothers who traveled and danced from Egypt to India to Europe.
My Dance Resumé:
Began studying under Samira in 1999
Taught weekly classes since 2000
Was a co-founder of the Meira Nawal dance troupe in 2001.
I am also a choreographer and a professional dancer. As a soloist, I perform an original and high-energy style of belly dance drawing inspiration from Turkish, Arabic, and Persian styles.
In addition to being a dancer, I am also a graphic artist, writer, wife, mother, priestess and social activist.
