| Creation Genesis 1-2 |
| The First Day In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was empty and without form. Darkness was everywhere, and in the darkness was the spirit of God. The God said: " Let there be light." And there was light. God saw that light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. the light God called Day, and the darkness He called Night. Then there was evening and morning, the first day. The Second Day Then God said: "Let there be sky in the midst of the waters." And sky appeared, to separate the waters bove from the waters below. God called the sky Heaven. There was evening and there was morning, the second day. The Third Day Then God said: "Let the waters under he heaven be gathered together and let dry land appear." And it was so. God called the dry land Earth and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. God saw that it was good. God said: "Let the earth make plants grow and trees and grass." The plants grew and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning the thirs day. The Fourth Day Then God said: "Let there be lights in the sky to divide day form night. Let them be for signs to count out the seasons adn days and months and years. Let them shine and give light to the earth." So there came into being two great lights: the greater light, the Sun, to rule the day; the lesser light, the Moon, to rule the night. Stars appeared also, and God saw that it was good. This was the fourth day. The Fifth Day Then God said: "Let there be great swarms of living creatures in the waters, and let birds fly above the earth in great numbers." So God created whales and fishes and all kinds of living creatures in the waters, and He created birds to fly over the waters and over the earth. God saw that it was good. he blessed the creatures and He said: "Be fruitful and multipy to fill the seas. The birds also shall multiply upon the earth." There was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. The Sixth Day Then God said: "Let there be living creatures upon the earth, catle and beasts and all kinds of creeping things." And it was so: cattle and beasts and creeping things appeared on the earth. Then God said: "Let man be made in our image to have power over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, over the earth and over everything that moves on the earth." So God created man in His own image. In the image of God were man and woman created. And He blessed them and He said: "Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth. You shall have power over all the fish, all the birds, and over every living thing on earth. "Every plant and the fruit of every tree on the earth you shall have for food. "To every beast, to every bird, to every living creature on earth, I give every green plant for food." And God saw everything that He made, and it was good. This was the sixth day. The Seventh Day Now the heavens and the earth were finished, and they were filled with life. On the seventh day God rested from His work. He saw that all He has done was good. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day He had rested. This is how the earth and the heavens and every little thing was created by God. When God had made man, a mist had gone up from the earth to water the surface of the earth. God formed man from dust of the earth and breathed into him the breath of life. And man became a living being. God called the first man Adam, a name which means earth. |
