LOST LOVE
Sunlight replaces the soft glow of the stars A new day upon me as I wake; Surrounded by the loud beats of my heart As they feel so torn apart. Lost is the warmth they once knew The rhythm gone as I think of you So cold, so sad is the blood that fills my veins A lost Love is what remains. Your touch gone from my world Your heartbeat faded in the distant light My body aches, my heart cries; For the love I was so deprived Slowly, Silently, tear drops fall Beckoning your name my heart calls; Your missed my Love My heart cries each night My empty soul stands under the soft glow of moonlight Wanting to feel your touch, hear your heartbeat As I lay my head against the warmth of your chest By your side I long to be Yet life took you so coldly from me. May you find warmth, and the love you need As you comfort that bottle instead of me Hold it tight, for it runs in your veins Each beat of your heart filled with its love For it has your soul locked in it's grasp Beckoning your name as I once did Taking you from my arms Hold it tight my love For it took you from me As my last tear drop falls For my Love you do not need.
This poem was written in 1997 as a result of losing someone who was very special to the addiction of alcohol.
