Mates

To each thing there is a perfect mate
Its stands before us as though by fate
The moon within the dark of night
The sun the fills the world with light

An eagle soars across the sky
A gust of air that helps it fly
The windswept wave upon the sea
It meets the beach in ecstasy
One searching half will always find
The thing it seeks - most every time

Within this frame I seem to see
There is a match for most of me
I have two arms to hold you tight
Two hands to seek you in the night

I have two eyes to gaze at you
Two lips to kiss... oh yes I do
Alas I find to my dismay - one heart
That beats one beat apart
And there with it one lonely mind
That whispers thoughts that I must find

But you my love I'm sure you see
You have that missing part of me
Two arms to hold me when I cry
Two hands to touch and make me sigh

Two twinkling eyes that make me smile
To lips to kiss me all the while
And there within your loving chest
The heart that matches mine the best
And too my mind shall never fear
It's found its mate in you my Dear
