SUNNY SPOKES TUTORIAL
NEEDED:
- PSP
- Letter Creator
- Filter Factory E: Gradient/Spokes Ratio Maker

- Tube of your choice. A tube taller in height then wide works
the best
LEVEL:
Beginner with basic knowledge of paint shop pro,
letter
creator and filters.
PREPARING
- Open tube, width/height maximum 320 px.
- Duplicate tube (Shift D) and close original
- Choose a light colour from tube and select it as fore-
ground colour in the material box
- Choose a darker colour from tube and select it as
background colour in the material box
- Edit - Copy
- Minimize Tube
BACKGROUND TILE
- File � New � New Image: 400x400
- Selections � Select all
- Edit � Paste � Paste into Selection
- Selections � Select None
- Layers � New raster layer
- Floodfill with light foreground color
- Layers � Arrange � Send to bottom
- Layers � Merge � Merge all (Flatten)
- Effects � Image Effects � Seamless tiling: default
- Adjust � Blur � Gaussian Blur: radius of 25
- Effects � Filter Factory E � Gradient/Spokes Ratio Maker:
these settings:
Gradient/Spokes: 80
- Effects � Texture Effects: Blinds: with these settings:
Width: 6, Opacity: 50, , Color: choose your background color.
Horizontal NOT checked. Light from top: checked.
- Repeat Blinds but now with Horizontal checked.
- Effects � Image effects � Seamless Tiling: settings:
Mirror and Bidirectional checked, Horizontal & Vertical offset: 0,
Width: 50.
- Selections � Select all
- Selections � Modify � Contract: number of pixels: 15
- ?Effects � 3d effects � Dropshadow: Vertical & Horizontal: 3,
Opacity: 45, Blur: 15 and Color: Black
- Effects � 3d effects � Dropshadow: Vertical & Horizontal: - 3,
Opacity: 45, Blur: 15 and Color: Black
- Selections � Select None
- Effects � 3d Effects � Inner Bevel: with these settings:
Bevel: 2, Smoothness: 0, Width: 4, Depth: 4, Ambiance: 0,
Shininess: 0, Corner: 315, Intensity: 50 and Elevation: 30
- Duplicate: Shift � D
- Image � Resize � Resize to 50 % (bicubic, all layers
checked)
- Minimize
BACKGROUND TUBE
- Activate the original background tile
- Image � Resize � Resize to 90 %
- Edit � Paste � Paste as New layer
- Effects � 3d Effects � Dropshadow: Vertical and Horizontal: 3,
Opacity: 45, Blur: 15 and Color: Black
- Layers � New raster layer
- Add your watermark
- Layers � Merge � Merge all
- Edit � Copy
- You can close this image
BACKGROUND
- File � New � New image: 1280 x 400, transparent
- Go to your material pallet and put your background color
(box) to pattern
- Click once to open your Material Properties box.
- Choose your settings: angle 0, scale 100,
- Choose your background tile as pattern
- Floodfill the background with your pattern
- Layers � New raster layer
- Floodfill this layer with your foreground color
- Put the opacity of this layer to 50 - 90, the
spokes should still be visible. I used 78.
- Layers � Merge � Merge All (Flatten)
- Edit � Paste � Paste as New Layer
- Move tube to the left with your mover tool
- Position the square nicely
- Optional :Effects � 3d effects � Dropshadow: Vertical
and Horizontal: 3, Opacity: 45, Blur: 15 and color: black
And repeat then with Vertical and Horizontal -3.
- Layers � Merge � Merge all (flatten)
FINISHING
- File � Export � PJEG Optimizer: compression of 22
- Open Letter Creator
- File � open your letter
- Tile in your body
- Mention your credits in your footer
- Finish
VARIATION
You can leave the blinds behind and the result will look
like the next example.
Compare it to example 1 on top to see the difference with and
without blinds.
