PATCHED SUMMER TUTORIAL
NEEDED:

- Letter Creator
- Tube of your choice
- Funhouse � Patchwork

LEVEL:
Advanced Beginner with basic knowledge of using filters/plug-ins
PREPARING
- Open your tube
- Duplicate your tube (Shift D)
- Chose a light color from tube and select it as foreground color
in the materialbox
- Chose a dark (matching) color from tube and select it as background
color in the materialbox
- Close the original tube
- Edit - Copy
- Minimize your copy of the tube
BACKGROUND TILE
- File � New � New image of 400 x 400 pixels
- In your materialbox change color to gradient (foreground-background)
- In the material properties box use the following settings:
settings: angle: 45, repeats: 1, invert checked, lineair style
- Floodfill your new image with your gradient
- Effects - Image effects - Seamless tiling: default settings
- Effects � Funhouse � Patchwork: Patchsize 120
- Effects � Image effects � Seamless tiling at default
- Image � Resize: resize to 50 % bicubic, lock aspect ratio,
Resize all layers checked
Variation: Resize to 25 % bicubic.
- Minimize your background tile
BACKGROUND
- File � New � New image of 1280x400 pixels
- In your material box change your background to pattern
- In your Material Properties box use these settings:
Angle: 0, Scale 100, chose your background tile
- Floodfill your background with the background tile
- Edit � Paste as a new layer
- Move your tube to the left side
- Effects � 3d effects � Dropshadow: Horizontal & Vertical: 3,
Opacity: 45, Blur: 15
- Layers � New raster layer
- Add your watermark
- Layers � Merge � Merge all (flatten)
FINISHING
- File � Export: JPEG Optimizer with compression of 20-25
- Open Letter Creator
- In your Body open your background
- In your Body tile your background
- In your Footer mention your credits
- Finish
Another example:
This example shows a variation. Resize to 25 % instead of 50 %.
Step 15.
Last example:
This example shows another variation. We use the same scale,
but we chose a smaller sized tube and position it in the left corner
below. Replace from step 22 forward. Then continue with 'FINISHING'
and finish this letter.
- 22. Move your tube to the left side below
- 23. Effects - 3d Effects - Dropshadow: with these settings:
horizontal & vertical: 4, opacity: 45, blur: 15
Layers � New raster layer
- 24. In you tool box chose your text tool
- 25. In your foreground color and background color box you
Should select two contrasting colors.
- 26. Chose a nice eyecatching letter type
- 27. On the space above the tube type your text.
- 28. Optional: Effects � 3dEffects � Dropshadow to your liking
I used Horizontal & Vertical: 1, Opacity: 100, Blur: 1
- 29. Add your watermark
- 30. Layers � Merge � Merge all (flatten)
Continue with 'FINISHING'.
