FOLDED RIPPLES TUTORIAL
MADE BY JETTY, THE NETHERLANDS,
FEBRUARY 2008



    PREPARING
  1. Open your tube, largest side no more then 380 pixels.
  2. Duplicate tube (Shift D) and close original
  3. Choose a light colour from tube and select it as fore-
    ground colour in the Materials box
  4. Choose a dark colour from tube and select it as
    background colour in the Materials box
  5. Edit - Copy
  6. Minimize tube

    BACKGROUND TILE
  7. 6. File � New Image: 400 x 400, transparent 7. In your Materials box change your background color to gradient.

  8. Left click once in your background box to enter your
    Materials Properties box.
  9. Change your settings to Foreground-background,
    Angle: 90, Repeats: 5, Style: Linear style. Invert not
    checked.
  10. Flood fill your image with this new gradient (right click)
  11. Effects � Distortion effects � Wave: these settings:

    Horizontal displacement: Amplitude: 35, Wavelength: 12
    Vertical displacement: Amplitude: 35, Wavelength: 12
    Edge mode: Wrap
  12. Effects � Distortion Effects � Twirl: these settings:
    180 Degrees
  13. Effects � Image Effects � Seamless Tiling: default
  14. Layers � New Raster Layer
  15. Flood fill with your light foreground color
  16. In your Layers Palette lower the opacity of this raster 2
    to a number between 40 and 80 to make it text friendly.
  17. Layers � Merge � Merge All (Flatten)
  18. Your background pattern is now ready, minimize

    BACKGROUND
  19. File � New Image: 1580 x 400, transparent
  20. In your Materials box change your foreground
    color to pattern


  21. Left click to enter your Materials Properties box.
  22. Change settings to: Angle: 0 and Scale: 50
    Variation: Angle: 0 and Scale: 100
  23. Flood fill your new image with your background pattern (left click)
  24. Edit � Paste � Paste as New Layer
  25. With your Move Tool move your tube to the left corner
  26. Effects � 3D Effects � Drop shadow: Vertical &
    Horizontal: 3, Opacity: 40, Blur: 10 and Color: Black.
  27. Layers � New Raster Layer
  28. Add your watermark
  29. Layers � Merge � Merge All (Flatten)
  30. File � Export � JPEG Optimizer: save with a Compression of 22.

    FINISHING
  31. Open Letter Creator
  32. In your body open your background and tile
  33. Mention your credits in your footer
  34. Finish
