A Tribute To Australia - My Home
Tram at Melbourne - Flinders Station
Southbank - Yarra River
One of the world's most spectacular coastal drives, the Great Ocean Road winds along beside quiet bays, pounding surf beaches, tranquil rainforests and starkly beautiful columns of rock set in the ocean.
Melbourne, Australia's cultural capital, is known for the good things in life. The capital of Victoria and Australia's second-largest metropolis is a city of style, of Victorian architecture, trams, fashion, food, theatres, art galleries, and leafy gardens. The city offers easy access to the Victorian Alps and the Grampians, and fabulous coastal scenery. It's not far either to desert plateaus, fertile river valleys, vineyards, historic goldfield country, and untouched rainforests.
VICTORIA
TASMANIA
Craggy pink granite peaks, spectacular white beaches, vivid green ocean, wetlands, coastal dunes, and swathes of dry eucalyptus forest make Freycinet National Park one of Tasmania's most stunning
Tasmania's capital, Hobart, is a cosmopolitan harbour-side city which straddles the mouth of the River Derwent. The harbour - called Sullivan's Cove - is the city's focal point and is next to the narrow lanes of Battery Point, famed for its colonial cottages. Nearby is picturesque Salamanca Place, with its row of sandstone warehouses dating back to Hobart's days as a whaling base. Today, it is famed for its galleries, pubs, and cafes, and the Salamanca markets which take place every Saturday.
NEW SOUTH WALES
The free-spirited coastal town of Byron Bay is famous for beaches, surfing, diving, and whale-watching. A thriving artistic and alternative lifestyle centre, this tropical beach bohemia attracts both backpackers and those with a mind for sophistication.
Sunny, sexy and sophisticated, Sydney is the shining star of the southern hemisphere. The white-sailed Sydney Opera House, caught mid-billow over the waters of Sydney Cove, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are the pride and joy, but there's far more on offer. You'll need days to discover the harbour, the city's historic enclaves, restaurants and cafes, Olympic venues, glamorous beaches, museums and art galleries, and the national parks and wildlife within the city and on its fringes. In all, they make Sydney an essential Australian experience.
Less than two hours by car or train west of Sydney, the Blue Mountains National Park is Australia's latest World Heritage site.
Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is the best known of Tasmania's national parks. Its alpine landscape of glacial valleys, jagged peaks and littering lakes contrasts with pockets of lush rainforest.
