Chapter Twelve

In Robin’s car

“So how old is Lucky Spencer?” Erin asked trying to sound casual.

“I think he turns 17 in a few days.  Why?” Robin asked.

“No reason, I was just wondering.”

Erin, don’t think you can hid anything from me.  I can read it on your face.  You like him don’t you?”

“Well,” Erin said biting her lip.  “I guess I would have to say I do.  Normally I have a hard time talking to boys but he was easy to talk to and he didn’t try that male mocho thing when I beat him at pool.”

“You like pool?  Then you and Jason should play sometime.  He is very good, about the only person I know that comes close to beating him is Carly Quartermaine.”

“I think Lucky let me win.  I’m not that good.”

“Well that’s the first sign that he likes you too.  Normally guys won’t let a girl win at anything.”

“You think so?”

“Yes, I know so.  It’s one of those rules that they don’t teach you in school.  Speaking of school.  What are you going to do about it?  Are you going to get another tutor?”

“I don’t think so.  Carrie was my sixth tutor and I don’t think I could handle another one.  Most of them were really distant and they all know who I was and what my father did.  I think it would be nice to have a teacher that doesn’t know what my dad does.”  Erin said sighing.  She hated having tutors.  She never got to meet people her own age or do things with a group that didn’t involve bodyguards.

“Why don’t you see about talking Jason into enrolling you in PC High.  They just built a brand-new building.  Everything is state-of-the-art.”  Robin suggested.  She knew how tuff it was to grow up detached from her peers.  She remembered that her high school years had been the beginning of many things for her.  She had met both Jason and Stone in high school.

“Jason wouldn’t be the problem, my dad would.  I’ve never gone to a regular school before.  I’ve always had a tutor.   Though I would like to try.  When I talk to my dad tonight I’ll see what I can do.  So tell me more about Lucky.”  Erin asked with an innocent smile.

“I don’t know lucky too well but I do know he’s very good on computers and he has a knack at getting into trouble, and he has great taste in music.  If you want to know more about him you should talk to Emily.”

“Who’s that?”  Erin asked.  She thought she would just die if Robin said she was his girlfriend.

“Oh, Em is one of his best friends.  They used to get into quite a bit of trouble together.  But don’t worry they are just friends.”

“I wasn’t worried,” Erin looked over at Robin who was giving her the look that said ‘Yah right’.  “Well maybe just a little,” Erin paused.  “To tell you the truth I was ready to crawl under a rock and die if you said that they were dating,” Erin had to laugh at herself.  “Look at me.  I’m falling for a guy I barley know.”

“That’s how it was who I first me Jason.  It was lobe at first sight, for me that is.  When Jason first knew me he was already dating someone else.  It wasn’t until after the accident that we got close,” Robin smiled softly as she thought of Jason.  “Here we are.”  Robin drove up a long wooded driveway.

“Wow, it’s beautiful!” Erin looked on in amazement at the woods surrounding the cottage.  “You own this?”

“No a friend of mine owns it.  We used to live together until she got married.  We’ll only be here a few minutes, I just need to pick up some things,” Robin and Erin entered the house and Robin ran up the stairs.  “Make yourself at home.”

Erin walked slowly through the loving room and looked at the pictures.  There were pictures of Robin and Jason, and one picture of Robin and some other guy.  The picture looked to be 5 or 6 years old and they were both dressed in old costumes.  The guy was good looking with dark hair and dark eyes.  Robin came down the stairs with a small overnight bag and saw Erin looking at her pictures.  “Who is this?” Erin asked holding up the photo she was looking at.

Robin put down her bag and walked over to her to see which picture she was looking at.  “That is Stone.  The picture was taken at the Nurse’s Ball 6 years ago, we performed a scene form Romeo and Juliet,” Robin sighed.  “So much has changed sense then.  It seems so long ago.”

“So that’s Stone?  Sonny used to talk quite a bit about him.  He loved that boy like his own brother.  When he died something inside of Sonny died too.  I wish I could have known him.”  Erin added softly.

“I think you would have liked him,” Robin said looking at the picture again.  “ He was a fighter, like you.  He never gave in to AIDS virus, even he found out that I had gotten HIV.  He taught me to fight for the things I wonted the most, and that is Jason.  I guess you could say that he is the reason I went back to Jason.”

Brenda walked through the front door.  She didn’t notice Erin.  “Oh Robin you’re here!  That’s great!  I have the best news to tell you,” then Brenda noticed Erin.  “Oh hi.  I didn’t know Robin had anyone over,” Brenda put down the grocery bags she had been carrying.

“Hello, I’m Erin Brown.”

“I’m Robin’s roommate, Brenda.” She said shaking Erin’s hand.

“I know, Robin told me about you.  It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Likewise,” Brenda looked at Erin for a moment. “Robin I have the best news to tell you,” Brenda clapped her hands in excitement.  Jax and I are going to have a baby!”  Brenda squealed.

Robin’s jaw fell open.  She couldn’t believe it.  Brenda and Jax had only been married a year.  “Brenda that’s wonderful!  I can’t believe that you’re going to have a baby.  Congratulations.”  Robin and Erin sat down on one of the couches and Brenda sat on the other.

“I still can’t believe it.  I’m going to be a mother.  I never thought this day would come. If it’s a girl I’m going to name her Robin and if it’s a boy I’m going to name him Jasper.” Brenda was beaming.  Robin hadn’t seen her this happy sense Brenda’s wedding day.  They talked for 25 minutes more.  Brenda asked Robin to be the god-mother and Robin accepted happily.

Bren, I’ve gotta run but I’ll call you tonight and we can talk some more okay?”

“Yah, no problem.  It was nice to meet you Erin.  I hope I’ll see you again.”

Robin and Erin got back to the penthouse and decided to have some fun in the kitchen.  Jason got home just as they were putting the finishing touches on the food.  They ate at the big dinning room table they talked and laughed as if they were a real family.

Jason couldn’t remember the last time he had felt like he had was part of a family.

“Wow, look at the time, it’s already 10.”  Erin commented as she picked up the dishes.

“Here let me help.”  Jason got up and took a few plated to the kitchen.  Robin followed suite and got the rest of the dishes.

They worked together washing the dishes, Erin washed, Jason rinsed and Robin dried.  Erin picked up the spry nozzle and sprayed Jason.  He in turn grabbed a handful of bubbles and threw them at her.  Robin laughed as she watched Erin and Jason get into a water fight.  “Jason it’s no use, your not going to win.”  Robin said still giggling.

“Robin’s right.  There is no way you’re going to win.  How about a truce?”

“Okay as long as you put down the spray nozzle, okay?”

“Fine, truce?”  Erin held her hand out.

“Truce.”  Jason shook her hand.  They finished cleaning up and sat down at the kitchen table talking.

“”Erin, where did you learn to cook so well?  The was a great dinner.”  Robin asked.

“My mother taught me how to cook before she died,” Erin replied.  “It’s kind of funny, I met Sonny because of my cooking.  I got board one day and decided to find out more about the man my dad worked for.  It took me a few hours but I got hold of his birth certificate and I sent him a cake on his birthday.  I was funny, neither my dad nor Sonny could understand how a nine-year-old could get all the information of him.  I guess I proved the saying right that said ‘The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.  He came over to thank me for the cake and from then till the accident I visited him when ever I was in town,” Erin looked at the kitchen clock.  It was already 11.  Where had all the time gone?  “I’m going to go hit the sack.  See you tomorrow.”
