Chapter Eleven

½ an hour latter

“Have you noticed that one of those boys has been staring at you for the last 10 minutes?” Robin whispered into Erin’s ear.

“No.  I haven’t.  Which one?”

“The one in the blue shirt.”

“Oh really?” Erin smiled and casually looked over at the group of boys.

“Lucky, do you know who that is?”  Devon asked not able to take his eyes off of the girl sitting at one of the tables.

“That’s Jason Morgan and his girlfriend Robin Scorpio and I have no clue who the other girl is.”

“You’re friends with Morgan.  You introduce up.”  Devon said giving Lucky a little nudge.

“Hey, my dad is the one who is friends with him not me.  Sorry you’re on your own this time man.”

“Thanx you’re a big help.”

“I’m going to the bar to get another pop.  I’ll be right back.”  Erin got up and walked over to the bar.  “Could I get another Coke?”  She asked the bartender.

Devon saw his chance and walked up to her.  “Excuse me, do you have a quarter?”

“No, sorry.”

“Oh that’s too bad.  Cuse’ someone needs to call heaven and tell them that there is an angle missing.”

Erin had to smile.  It had been a long time sense someone had tried a pick-up line on her.  “Well thank you.  But how can you be sure I’m from heaven?” Erin joked back.

“Because you have a face that only an angle could have.”

“You’re good at this.  But I’m afraid that I’ve already heard that line.”

“If you stick around for a few minutes I’m sure I can come up with one that you haven’t heard.”

“I’m sure you could,” Erin said looking up to meet his eyes with hers.  Their eyes locked and both of them could feel electricity.  “I’m Erin.  What’s your name?”

“Anything you want it to be,” Devon said moving a step closer.  “But really my name is Devon.”

“We’ll Devon I have to say that you are smooth.  But I don’t want to keep you from your friends.” Erin said looking by Devon to the rest of the boys.

“Don’t worry about them.” Devon leaned casually on the bar.

“Well that didn’t take very long.” Robin said with a grin.

“What didn’t take very long?”  Jason asked.

“Take a look for yourself.  I think Erin is beginning to enjoy the thought of being here for a wile.”  Jason turned around and saw Erin talking to a tall hansom young man.

Jason shook his head and laughed quietly.

Lucky walked up behind Devon.  “Hay man, aren’t you going to introduce me to your beautiful companion?”

“You two are cut form the same fabric aren’t you?” Erin laughed.  “You must be Lucky Spencer.  I’m Erin Brown.”

“You’re right how do you know me.  I don’t seem to recognize you, and never forget a beautiful face.”

“Oh, you wouldn’t know me.  We have a mutual friend.  Michele Corinthos Jr.”  Erin said the last name quiet enough so that Devon couldn’t hear but Lucky could.

Lucky was shocked.  How could she know Sonny?  “Oh really?” Lucky asked trying to hide his surprise.

“So Devon says that you’re a good pool player,” Erin said changing the subject. “I doubt you could beat me.”

“I don’t know about that…I’ve been playing for a long time.”

“Then I challenge you to a game of pool.” Erin said with a devilish grin.

“This should be good.  I’ll go set up the table.”  Devon said giving himself an excuse to leave.  He knew better then to be the Third person in a conversation.

“So how do you know Sonny?” Lucky asked as soon as Devon was out of earshot.

“It’s a long story.  I’ll tell it to you some other time.  I’ll be right there, I just have to tell Jason what I’m doing.”  Erin walked over to the table and told Jason where she was going and told him to come get her when they wanted to leave.

25 minuets latter

“I demand a rematch.”  Lucky joked as they left the poolroom.

“Hey man, I have to get going talk to you latter.  Erin it was a real pleasure to meet you.” Devon said softly.

“We have to get going too.” Mark said grabbing his and Tom’s jackets.

“So now that it’s just you an me why don’t you tell me how you know Sonny?” Lucky suggested suspiciously.

“My father worked for Sonny.  And I was injured wile my dad was protecting him.  Sonny always blamed himself.  So he tried to make it up to me.  He was almost like a second father to me.”

“I never know Sonny had a soft spot for kids.”

“He never liked to see someone get hurt.  After Lilly died he tried even harder to make up for what he lost by helping me.  And after Brenda, he was a mess. He could forgive himself for the way he had hurt her.  Up until about 6 months ago he had carried their wedding announcement in his wallet.”

“You’ve talked to him sense he left?”

“Oh,” Erin groaned. “You have to swear no to tell a soul.  No one was to know that we have kept in touch.”

“Don’t worry.  I won’t tell anyone.  How is he doing?”

“He’s okay.  HE often regrets leaving.  But there’s no way he can come back now.  Too much has happened.  Even if he could he wouldn’t want to.  Things would be too hard for him to handle.”  Erin whispered.  Erin and Lucky were sitting with their head close talking quietly.

“It looks like Erin and lucky have hit if off really well.  I’m glad she’s making friends here,” Robin said glancing over at them and smiled.  After a thoughtful pause.  “I was thinking that I would take her to meet Brenda and to see the cottage.  Wile we were up last night she was telling me how much she loved the outdoors and I thing she would like all the woods ant are around it.”

“If she wants to go I have no problem with it.  But if Brenda gives her any trouble…”

“Don’t worry, Robin said cutting him off.”  Brenda will love her.  And I think she’ll like Brenda, most people so.  Hey, even you two get along now.”  Robin pointed out.

“But it took a plain crash to do that.  Remember?”  Jason returned.

“I remember that accident all too well, but you two still get along.”  Robin said quietly remembering the terror of that time.

Jason looked sown at his watch.  “I have a meeting to go to.  Can you make sure that she gets home when she’s done?”

“Sure.  When will you be home?”

“I’ll be home around 6.”

“Okay, I have to pick some things up form the cottage so I’ll probably be home before you.”

“I’ll see you then.”  Jason kissed Robin softly and left.

“I’m so glad I can talk to you about Sonny.  It’s so hard for mw to hear someone badmouth him and not attack them.  I have to look like I don’t care that they say, not only for my safety but for Sonny’s.  IF the wrong person were to tear of our true relationship…”

“Relationship?” Lucky said raising an eyebrow.

“It’s kinda hard to explain.  If anything were to happen to my father I would be passed on to Sonny.  There aren’t many people who would give custody of their only child to their one time boss, not to mention a mob boss on the run.  If someone found out they could use em to get to Sonny.  He would talk into a trap without even blinking.  The scary part is he would die for me.  And I wouldn’t want him to but he would just the same, so I have to make sure that he never gets the chance,” Erin shook her head and sighted.  “I’m sorry you should ‘t have to sit here and listen to me rant and rave.”

“That’s okay.  It sounded like you needed to get that off your chest.  How about a change of subject?”

“Sure I could go for that.”

“How long are you going to be in town?”

“I’m not sure, but I’m positive that I won’t be home for my birthday.”

“Oh?  When’s that?”

“Two weeks.  I’ll be sixteen.” Erin said happily.

“Well then that means that you will have to celebrate here.”  Lucky joked.

“I’ve never been gin on birthdays.  They bring back bad memories,” Erin paused.  “But I think this year might me different.”  Erin said hopefully.

“It most definitely will be.  You’re going to be sixteen.  That’s a big occasion.  I remember on my sixteenth my dad decided that he was going to through me a huge surprise party.  It was really wild.”  Lucky said with a laugh.

“I’d love to hear about it, but it looks like Robin would like to get going so you can tell it to me the next time we see each other.”  Erin said getting up.

“Oh just one more thing when is your birthday?”

“August 25.  Why?”

“Just wondering.” Lucky said with a devilish grin.

“Okay bye,” Erin walked over to Robin.  “It looks like you are ready to go.”

“Yah, I am.  I need to run an errand.  Do you want to come with me or would you like me just to take you back to the penthouse?”

“I’ll go with you.  I have nothing else to do.”
