Chapter Eight

Jason’s penthouse

“So are you going to tell me what you were meeting with Alan for?” Jason asked.  He was lying on the couch with Robin in his arms.

Robin propped herself up on one elbow and looked at Jason.  “Alan found out about a new experimental cure for HIV.  He wanted to know if I was interested in it.  It’s a lot like the protocol, I’ll still be taking loads of pills, but if it works I would only have to take them for one year and I would become HIV free.”  Robin smiled at Jason.

“Well what did you tell Alan?”  Jason asked impatiently.

“I told him that I would be in touch.”

“Well what are you going to do?”

“What do you think I’m going to do?  If this thing is really a cure, it could be just what we have been hoping for.  First thing first I’m going to do a little research and find out what I can about these drugs.”

“No need.  I’ve been keeping up to date on everything going on concerning new HIV treatments.  If this is the one I’ve been reading about I already have all the info on the drugs.  Is it from Switzerland?”

“I should of guessed that you would already know about this.  Yes it is the one from Switzerland.  So what do you know about it?”

“From what I read it is an amazing breakthrough.  The man who found it is named Mazoono.  He was originally thought to be a hoax but he provided amazing results when it was tested.  He started the human testing 15 months ago and so far 85% have tested negative for HIV and the other 15% have improved.  50% of the group had been on the protocol and all of them were in the 85% that were cured the other 35% had only contracted HIV within 6 moths of starting the new treatment…”

Robin placed a finger to Jason’s lips.  “Okay I believe you, you’ve read up on this.  Enough talking.”  Robin leaned over and kissed Jason softly on the lips.  Jason kidded her back deeply and passionately.  Robin knew that was where she belonged, despite what anyone else said, her and Jason were meant to be together.  Jason scooped Robin up into his arms and carried her upstairs.

On the docks

Erin heard a gun shot explode.  She felt it wiz by her head, Erin instinctively ducked down and covered her head.  She felt Carrie through herself on top of her to serve as a human shield.  Another shot rang out.  Moments latter Carrie moved and someone grabbed her by the shoulders,  “Come with me Miss Brown.  We need to get you out of here,” Sam whispered hurriedly in her ear.  When she didn’t move he picked her up and carried her quickly to the car.  Erin sat in the car, she hadn’t moved from the place Sam had placed her.  She could feel something warm and wet soaking through her cloths and to her skin.  As it dried it became extremely sticky.  Erin knew by the smell that it was blood, and it didn’t belong to her.  There was only one other person who the blood could belong to, Carrie.  Erin’s eye’s welled up with tears as she thought of what her friend, her only friend, had done for her.  Without having to be told Erin knew that Carrie had sacrificed her own life to save her.  It seemed like an eternity before Sam returned.

“Is Carrie…I mean Miss Carelson dead?

“Yes she is.”

“Did you catch the shooter?”

“No we didn’t.”  Sam said softly hoping not to upset her further.

“Have you called Jason yet?”  Erin asked robotically.

“O was just boat to.  I wanted to check on you first.”  Sam closed the car door and pulled out his cell phone.

Jason’s penthouse

Jason carried Robin through the door to his room and placed her tenderly on the bed.

“Jason, Erin could return any moment.” Robin whispered between kisses.

“You sure do know how to spoil the moment, don’t you?” Jason joked.  “But you’re right.”

“That doesn’t have to spoil our fun totally.”  Robin said off the bed and walked over to the stereo system in the corner of the room and put in a CD, soft music filled the room.

Jason walked over to her and raped his arms around her waist and Robin placed her arms around Jason’s neck.  They swayed to the music for a few minutes.   Jason leaned down to kiss Robin on the lips when his cell phone rang.  Jason exhaled angrily.  He stormed over to where he had dropped his jacket.  “This better be good.”  Jason roared in a frustrated tone.

“Ah…Morgan I have some bad news.  Miss Brown was shot at wile she was at the docks.  Her teacher was killed.  I’m bringing Miss Brown back right now.”

“Is she okay?  Let me speak to her,” Robin walked over to Jason and stood worriedly next to him.  “Rein?  Are you there?”

“Yah, I’m here.” Erin whispered shakily.

“Can you tell me what happened?”

“I’m covered in blood,” she said, her voice breaking with tears.  “It’s not my blood, it’s Carrie’s.  Her blood is all over me.”

Erin, calm down.  I need you to be calm.  Can you do that for me?”  Jason asked in a soothing voice.

“Calm…”  Erin took a shaky breath.  “I’m calm now.  What do you need to know?”

“Are you sure that none of the blood is yours?  Where you hurt at all?”  Robin’s eyes widened with feat at the mention of blood.  She sank weakly into a nearby chare.

“I’m not hurt.  Carrie dove on top of me and used her body as a shield.”

“Okay.  Could you give the phone back to Sam?  I need to talk to him.”  Erin held the phone out to Sam.

“Yes?”

“Bring her back here as quick as you can.  Leave someone behind to talk to the cops when they get there.”

“Will do.”

Sam led Erin quickly into Jason’s apartment.  Robin gasped in shock, Erin had blood all over her, her face, her hands, and all over her cloths.  “I’ll help you get cleaned up,” Robin lead Erin by the hand out the door.  Normally Erin would have resented that kind of treatment but she was still in shock and very little registered with her.
