Chapter Four

Late that night

There she was-it was her 10th birthday and she was in the passenger seat of her father’s car.  A black car was speeding down the road.  She screamed.  There was glass everywhere and then there was Sonny leaning over her.  A few moments passed and everything faded to black.

Erin awoke to the phone ringing.  She answered it.  “Hello?”

“Hey, little one.  How is everything going?” a male’s voice came over the phone.

“Sonny?  Is that you?  It’s been a long time.  How have you been?  You had me worried for a wile.  There were at least 2 moths between this and the last call.  You don’t know how happy I was to get your letter and the book.  Oh and thank you for the book.  How did you remember that I like Shakespeare?”

“Woh, slow down kid.  I’m sorry that you didn’t hear form me.  But you gotta remember that I might not be able to call you all the time, you know that.  And how could I forget that you liked Shakespeare?  You spent three hours talking about what you were reading.  So how have you been doing?  Are you still getting those head aches?”

“Yah I still get them but they aren’t as strong as when they started.  I guess you won’t be here for the anniversary will you?”  Erin asked a little disappointed.

“And miss giving you your birthday gift on your birthday?  Never.”  Sonny said kindly.

“But how?  I thought that you said that you could never come back here?  I tried to get dad to leave me somewhere else but he insisted on here.”

“I’ll find a way to get there and stay out of sight.  But it was smart of your dad to leave you with Jason.  He will keep you out of trouble and maybe you cane keep him out of some.  I gotta get going.  I’ll call you in a few days.  Be good.”

“Okay Sonny, luv ya, bye.”

“Love you too kiddo.  Bye.”

Erin hug up the phone feeling better.  She curled up and fell back asleep.
