Chapter Eight
Kate
followed Kristean up a flight of grand circular
stairs and then down a long darkly paneled hall. Kristean opened a
door and led Kate into a large bedroom.
It was furnished in period pieces from the 20s. “You can use the bathroom through those
doors.” Kristean
pointed to a set of double doors off to the far right. “Your friend is down the hall to the
left. And there is a change of cloths in
there if you want them.” Kate nodded her
head in a thank you and headed through the double doors. She stepped into a bathroom that was larger
than her bedroom back home. There was a
3-clawed porcelain bathtub to one side and a large modern shower to the
other. The floors and counters were
white marble. The walls were wallpapered
in green with a gold floral boarder.
Everything on the counter was down in shinning brass.
Kate
figured she had enough time to shower and clean off the grime of the night
before. Ten minuets later Kate wiped the
mirror off with a towel and looked at the clothes that were left for her, it
was a trendy little t-shirt with a cut off jean skirt. Kate was surprised that they were her size,
but then she figured that they must have been Maggie’s.
Kate walked
down the hall to Robby’s room and knocked on the door. “Come in.”
Kate heard he muffled voice over the sound of a faucet.
“You know I
was thinking,” Kate started to tell Robby as when opened the door to the
bathroom, “about what Senior Moyer was saying about…” Kate’s voice trailed off
when she saw Robby. He was standing at the
sink with his back to her washing his face.
Kate couldn’t find her voice, he was standing here with she shirt off and she couldn’t help but wonder when he found
the time to work out, because she could see every well-defined muscle in
his back.
Kate quickly
caught herself and blushed at her thoughts and looked away from Robby before
she could see her staring.
Robby
smiled to himself, he had seen her staring at him. When her face blushed he couldn’t’ help but
wonder what she had been thinking to cause it.
But she wasn’t the only one who was taking their time looking, Robby was
doing some looking of his own and he couldn’t help but notice how Kate’s
beautiful shape was accented well in her cothes. He cleared his throat but when Kate didn’t
look up, “Saying about what?”
“Huh?” Kate’s head shot up and she looked more than
a little confused.
“Are you
going to finish your train of thought?”
Robby asked her teasingly.
Kate’s eyes
traveled from his face down to his chest, he wasn’t ripped or anything, but there
was just something about the way he looked with his shirt off. When she realized her eyes were wondering
again she studied the lines in the marble floor. “Yah, um as I was saying…” She was having a
hard time finding a coherent thought in her head. “If Moyer was serious about us performing for
the kids at the farm I think we should bring it up with Candra
and the others.”
Robby
closed the space between them in two steps and was standing less than a foot
away from her.
Kate closed
her eyes and tried to even out her breathing, she had read that some people
could slow down their heartbeat by controlling their breathing, and right then
her heart was flying a mile-a-minute.
Robby lifted her chin so she was looking up into his eyes.
“I think
that’s a great idea,” Robby’s body inched closer to Kate and he lowered his
lips to kiss Kate. Their eyes fluttered
shut together, they had both been waiting a long time
for this moment.
At the
sound of someone knocking on the door they both flew apart and Kate gave a startled
squeal, the spell had been broken.
“Yes?” Robby managed to say.
The butler
poked his head in. “Senior Moyer wanted
to know if everything was satisfactory?”
“Everything
is fine. You can tell him that we will
be down momentarily.” Robby answered nodding
to him as he left.
“Um…yah, we
might want to head down. We don’t’ know
hoe long it will take to get back.” Kate
attempted to back up and add a little space between them but ended up bumping
into the wall. Robby make no attempt to
move out of her way and let her by, he was to busy looking intently into Kate’s
eyes. Kate soon forgot any and all ideas
of retreating from Robby’s eyes.
“Do you
really want to go down there?” Robby
asked in a low voice as he once more leaning in to capture the lips of the
woman who entranced him.
“We don’t
want to be rude,” Kate whispered breathlessly as his lips brushed against her
awaiting ones. All at once every thought
left her mind and the only thing she knew was the firestorm of emotion that
flooded her senses when he finally did kiss her.
It was the
sweetest most breathtaking kiss Kate had ever experienced. Slow and full of promise
for the future, the kiss was soul sealing.
