Chapter One

“I’m not leaving without her!”

Everyone turned and looked at Robby, standing defiantly next to the door.

“Robby, don’t cause any trouble, let’s just do as they say.  We’ll get Kate back later.”  Candra begged.  She didn’t want to see their only chance at getting away, disappear because someone tried to play the hero.

The one who seemed to be the leader ignored Candra’s plea.  “You would choose to stay here if we did not let her leave with the rest?”  Through the thick Mexican accent Robby could sense a hint of amusement.

“If Kate doesn’t leave, then I don’t leave.”  Out of the corner of his eye Robby could see fear in the faces of everyone.

“If that is your wish, then so be it!”  The leaded said with a nod of his head.

“You’ll let Kate come with us?”  Robby asked hopefully.

“No.  You will stay here and the rest will leave.”  One man came up behind Robby blocking his exit while two others leveled their guns at the rest of the group and walked them out the door.
