Chapter 37

“I’m glad you’re back, I was beginning to think that we were going to have to go out and look for you again.”  Sonny said trying to slip in a little humor.

Erin looked from him to Charlie and back again.  “I’m not really sure how I feel about either of you at the moment, so I think it would be best if both of you just leave me alone for a wile until I get everything sorted out.”  They both nodded in understanding and parted as she walked past them and into the cabin.

Charlie turned and looked at Rose.  “Rose I can’t thank you enough for watching Erin wile I was with Delgoto and for helping her when I couldn’t.”

Rose gave him a sweet smile.  “It was a pleasure.  She’s a charming girl, your daughter.  If it’s all right with you, I’ll be heading home.  I left in such a rush that I didn’t get anyone to take care of my plants while I was gone.”

“Yes, that will be fine.  Have a nice flight home.”

Charlie and Sonny watch as the old woman walked off towards the road.  When she was out of earshot Sonny turned to Charlie.  “Who was that?”

“Just an old associate of mine.  She retired a few years back and I found out that she was living close to Robin, so I’ve just been having her keep me up to date with everything that has been going on over there.”

Inside

Everyone was sitting around the small table talking when Erin walked in.  She gave each of them a soft smile.  “Good your back.”  Jax got up and gave her a tight hug.  “We were just talking about packing up and heading home.”

“What about Delgoto?  We aren’t just going to leave and let him get by without so much as a word, are we?”  Erin asked worriedly.

Jax read her thoughts.  Don’t worry, Delgoto won’t be bothering you.  Robin made sure of that.”

“How?”  Erin asked looking at Robin.

“One of my mother’s friends lives here and he promised to make sure that Delgoto is out of commission… for a very long time.”  Robin added with a smile.  As it had turned out Robin had recognized the name Dawn Drake.  And when she had been in the hospital she had made the connection.  Him and her mother had gone to school together and they had kept in touch up until she had been killed.  Dawn had been more then happy to help her track down Erin’s kidnaper, and sense Delgoto was one of his competitors this just gave him the little push he needed to take over his small organization.  Over the years it had been gaining in power and by then to was too big to be considered just a mild nuisance.
