Chapter 26

“Why kidnap me?  Why didn’t you just kill me?”  Erin asked Mickey after she had regained her train of thought.

“Because I have a little surprise for you before you die.  I have someone I think you would like to meet.  We’re going to be in the air for five more hours so why don’t you try and get some sleep, I want to make sure that you’re in tip pot shape when you see him.”  Mickey said with a sneer.

“We’re in a plane?”  Erin asked looking around.  It didn’t look like a plane, there were no windows and no isles of seats, just a couch in the far left end of the room and a table and chairs to the right of them.

“Why of course we’re in a plane, how else would we get to Europe?  I’ll leave you to get some sleep.  Oh and don’t think about trying anything funny.  This whole room is wired so I’ll know if you try anything.”  With that Mickey went out the only door.  Erin could hear a lock slid in place after the door shut.  She sat down on the couch and looked around.  There was nothing for her to do and after a few minutes she began to feel sleepy in spite of herself.  She lay down on the couch and curled up to get some sleep, there was no way she could operate efficiently if she was tired.

Hours later she woke up when she heard someone coming in the room.  “I’m glad you took my advice and got some sleep.  Now if you will just weight a few minutes we will land and be able to get off this flying tin bird.”

Just like Mickey had said, they landed and a few minutes later they got off.  Erin didn’t talk the whole time.  There was a car weighting for them and she was ushered into it.  Erin sat in the leather seat with her jaw clenched and arms folded across her chest.  “We have one stop before we get to our destination.”  Erin looked at him with disgust.  “Well aren’t you going to ask what it is?”  Mickey asked amused.

“Fine, where is it?”  Erin asked through clenched teeth.

“Now that’s a good girl.  We are going to stop off at a house of mine and pick up some cloths for you.  We want you looking your best when you meat my friend.”

Erin had no clue why he was doing this.  She looked away from him and stared out the window.  She hadn’t noticed it but the whole time she was wake, the little blue light on her watch was blinking.

Liz and Lucky’s apartment

Sonny nervously paised the living room floor.  “Why hasn’t she gotten back to us?”  Sonny asked sitting back down.

Liz silently pulled Lucky aside.  “Why don’t you sugest that you use Jason’s, this place is going to get really small once Jason and everyone else decide that they want to get into the action.”

“That’s a good idea, I’ll ask him right now, he seems ready to explode.”  Lucky walked back over to Sonny.  “Hey man, how about we move this operation over to Jason’s.  This place is going to get real small once everyone else gets here?”

“Yah, you’re right.  By the way, where is Luke?”

“He’s checking in to see if he can get any more info on the person who’s calling in Helena’s favors.”  Lucky gathered everything that he and Sonny had been working on and put it into his backpack.  A few minutes later Lucky, Liz and Sonny were on their way to Jason’s penthouse.

hours later

Sonny walked out of the kitchen into the silent living room.  He looked over to the couch and saw Lucky and Liz curled up in each other’s arms, asleep.  A sad smile crossed his lips; seeing them like that reminded him of how he and Brenda had been when they had first gotten together.  But that had gone sour and she had turned to Jax, and now she was gone for good.  It seemed like everyone he had ever loved and that had loved him, he had lost in some way or another.  Sonny resolved to not let that happen to Erin, he would find her, bring her back and when the time was right he would tell her the truth about him being her true father.  He walked over to the two and pulled a blanket over them.  Sonny then walked over to the window and just looked out over the city and watched the lights; he had a lot to think about, and what better time then at two in the morning.

Lucky woke up somewhere around five; he didn’t have the heart to wake up Liz so he just sat there watching her sleep.  But that didn’t last very long; six minuets later there was a nock on the door that woke her up.  Sonny went to the door and opened it.  Johnny stood in the doorway, “Nikolas Cassadine, to see you sir.”

“Let him in.”  Sonny waved him in.

Nikolas walked in looking like he hadn’t slept for days, his hair was a mess and he hadn’t shaved; he and Sonny looked almost alike.

“You look like the night of the living dead, where have you been?”  Lucky asked and Liz jabbed him in the ribs.

“I’ve been up all night checking out leads.”

“Did you get anything?”  Sonny asked.

“I actually found something that might be of use.”  Nikolas said holding up some papers.

“Well tell us.”  Sonny told him impatiently.

Nikolas sat down on the couch and everyone followed suit, he looked at them with a weak smile.  “It wasn’t much but I followed a hunch after Erin disappeared.  I did some checking with every airport within 50 miles of here.  Forty plains have taken off sense yesterday, thirty-five of them were commercial flights, and I don’t think whomever did this would take the chance of using a commercial jet.  Two of the remaining flights were headed to the Midwest, and both of them company plains, one is owned by an oil company in Texas and the other was an ELQ jet, Mr. Ashton had to attend some company board meeting.   The other three are privately owned.  One owned by some computer executive from Washington, named Paul Allen, and its destinations was SeaTac Airport, in Washington.  I called the airport and they called ahead with their flight plan.  So I ruled out those three.

“The other two are the ones that I am interested in.  The first no one knows who it belonged to or where it was headed, I have my people trying to track it down but they haven’t had any luck yet.”  Sonny stood up and walked over to the window.  “The other is owned by a Michael Delgoto from LA.  I wouldn’t have given it a second thought but the name sounded formilure so I checked where he was headed.  He told them he was headed to Spain, but after about half an hour in the air the plain altered it’s direction from the main coarse to Spain and started heading toward Europe.  I did a little more checking and not even moderate size airport had a scheduled land for him.  I told me people to call the moment-  Just then Nikolas’ cell phone rang.

“Hello?  Yes…Thank you.”  He hung up the phone and looked over to Sonny.  “That was one of my men, the plain landed in Europe about ten minuets ago.  He said that they tried to get a look at the passengers but the moment they got off the plain they were rushed into a weighting car.  But they did see a girl with long dark hair with a man about forty, and she didn’t look happy.”

Sonny looked away from the window and looked at Nikolas.  This kid was good, if it wasn’t for him being a Cassadine he would make a good employee.  “Good job.  Do you think you can have any of your men in Europe check them out, it’s a long shot but we don’t have much else to go on.”  Sonny paused a moment.  “What did you say the owner’s name was?”

Nikolas looked at on of the papers.  “Michael Delgoto.  Why?”

“Nothing, it’s just I think I’ve heard that name before.  If Jason was here he would know.”

“Yah, where is Jason, I expected him to be here with you.”  Nikolas asked.

Sonny closed his eyes.  He forgot that Nikolas didn’t know about Robin.  “He’s at the hospital with Robin.”

Nikolas looked around the room in shock.  “Why what happened?”

“Robin was poisoned.”  Sonny told him flatly.
